Chapter 147: Chapter 147 — Ginny’s Fear

Chapter 147 — Ginny’s Fear

For several days, the students talked about nothing but Mrs. Norris.

Of course, Filch was doing his part to keep the incident fresh in everyone’s minds.

He spent every day wandering around the place where Mrs. Norris had been found petrified. Whenever he had free time, he would even drag a chair over there and sit guard.

On top of that, he blamed the students for what had happened to Mrs. Norris.

Nowadays, he would give students detention simply for making too much noise or fooling around.

Harry had originally thought Filch would hate them. After all, they had been right beside Mrs. Norris when she was found.

But he had been overthinking it.

Not only did Mr. Filch not hate them, he even turned a blind eye to them from time to time.

Harry initially thought that perhaps Filch had finally developed a conscience.

It wasn’t until he saw Filch handing Vesey a few candies with a stiff expression that he realized the real reason.

Filch had finally understood how kind Vesey had been to Mrs. Norris.

He believed everything Vesey said.

Harry couldn’t help feeling a little emotional.

He never expected that Mr. Filch would one day be kind to students.

Harry still felt somewhat guilty, though.

He felt guilty because he hadn’t told Dumbledore that he had heard that strange voice before.

Because of that guilt, he didn’t even dare tell Vesey about it.

He was afraid Vesey would feel guilty too.

Vesey wasn’t a bad person, and she couldn’t do anything to help if she knew. She would only keep it bottled up inside and make herself miserable.

So Harry, Ron, and Hermione unanimously decided to keep Vesey out of it.

They were left to bear their own uneasy thoughts.

And there was another person who looked just as guilty and uneasy as Harry.

Ginny.

Ginny looked even more frightened and troubled than Harry and the others.

Vesey would take the initiative to comfort her every time.

"It’s all right. Just wait a little longer. The professors will brew the antidote, and Mrs. Norris will recover."

But Ginny didn’t look relieved at all.

She remained anxious and looked as though she might burst into tears at any moment.

This left Ron and the others particularly puzzled.

"She and Mrs. Norris have never gotten along. So why is she so upset?"

Why?

Of course Vesey knew.

But she couldn’t tell them.

So she could only say that Ginny was probably very kind-hearted and didn’t want to see anyone suffer.

Ron didn’t really believe that.

After all, other people might not understand Ginny, but as her brother, he knew her well.

Ginny wasn’t particularly gentle or kind-hearted.

She was actually quite stubborn and strong-willed.

He was certain that Ginny’s current behavior had nothing to do with the kindness Vesey described.

She must simply be frightened.

But after thinking it over, Ron still didn’t say anything.

He didn’t want to make Ginny angry.

Apart from comforting Ginny, Vesey had recently begun preparing for her research into the Vampire Conversion Potion.

Every day, she pretended to read large numbers of books, borrowed piles of them back to her dormitory, and came up with all sorts of questions to ask every professor at Hogwarts except Lockhart.

Of course, all of this was an illusion.

In reality, she was watching movies and television in her head.

In private, she had become a completely game-addicted girl in her dormitory, wishing she could hold her game console and play forever.

To make everyone believe that she was working extremely hard, she even specifically asked the system to give her dark circles under her eyes.

The result made her look like she hadn’t slept properly in weeks.

Harry and the others tried to persuade her to rest.

But Vesey firmly insisted that she already had an idea and was currently working through the process of gradually integrating all her thoughts.

"If you’re really doing this for my sake, then let me continue researching this potion."

She looked at them seriously.

"I want to let Millicent and all the other people suffering from vampirism return to normal."

Those words quickly spread throughout Hogwarts.

And they brought Vesey a large amount of Energy Points.

Whenever people encountered Vesey afterward, they would even lower their voices and move more carefully, afraid of disturbing her train of thought.

Even at mealtimes, Cassandra would put Vesey’s favorite food directly into her reach so that she could grab it without having to look away from whatever she was thinking about.

In short, all the teachers and students at Hogwarts tried their best to create the ideal environment for her research.

This made Vesey, who was actually spending most of her time slacking off, feel slightly embarrassed.

If she hadn’t known that it was impossible to produce results so quickly, she would have been tempted to take out a completed Vampire Conversion Potion right then and there.

But she couldn’t do that.

She had to wait.

At the very least, she needed to wait until she had written her next diary entry.

Fortunately, the next diary entry wouldn’t take long.

She planned to write about Ginny this time.

The diary had already revealed that Ginny would soon come to see the diary writer.

That was the starting point for Vesey’s next entry.

Late that night—

Around four in the morning—

After losing another game, Vesey took the diary out of the system.

She kept encountering players who cheated in her games, and she had finally lost her temper.

She decided to wake everyone up.

Time to write the diary.

At the same time—

Ginny, who had been having a nightmare in the middle of the night, suddenly woke up.

She wiped the sweat from her forehead, her face still filled with lingering fear.

She had dreamed that she was being controlled by something and had hurt Mrs. Norris.

In other words...

It wasn’t a dream.

On several occasions after waking up, she had found herself covered in blood.

She didn’t even know what she had hurt.

Ginny covered her face in despair.

Suddenly, she felt that something around her was wrong.

Her body stiffened.

I didn’t hurt something again, did I?

Just as panic began to overwhelm her, she suddenly saw a diary appear in front of her.

It looked very similar to the diary she had seen before.

Ginny’s body began to tremble.

During this period, she had constantly suspected that the things she had done were connected to that diary.

That was why she had hidden it away for the past few days.

She never expected it to appear again.

With trembling hands, Ginny hurriedly tried to put the diary into her schoolbag.

She didn’t want anyone else to see it.

If one of her classmates discovered it, they would definitely become suspicious.

Maybe she’d be expelled from school.

I’d probably be the student who got expelled the fastest in Hogwarts history!

Ginny thought miserably.

She was so upset that she almost cried.

Resentment filled her as she stared at the diary.

She subconsciously waved her hand at it.

She wanted to make it disappear.

But to her surprise, the diary opened to a new page.

This page was different from the ones she had seen before.

Previously, the diary had always been blank, and she had needed to write something herself.

This time, however, the page was already filled with words.

Ginny stared at it carefully.

Then she suddenly realized that this diary was different from the one she was holding.

This diary looked far more mysterious and refined.

It was also considerably larger than her own diary.

Is this a new diary?

Ginny stared blankly at it.

Then she noticed that the diary was sitting directly in front of her.

She instinctively looked down.

At first, she was surprised to see Harry’s name and saddened by what she read about Vesey’s death.

But then she reached the latest entry.

It said that, in the future, she would become Vesey’s wife.

Ginny was stunned.

She was almost too shocked to speak.

She had always thought that she liked Harry very much.

She had even imagined being with Harry in the future.

So how could she become Vesey’s wife?

At present, she only had a friendship with Vesey.

Why would she eventually want to take Vesey home with her?

And why would she refuse to leave even after Vesey died?

Did I really do all of that?
