"Ginny really came to see me today. She was very calm—the kind of calm that makes you feel as though she has already been through a great many things.
"I only had to look at her to know that she wasn’t suicidal.
"Mrs. Weasley’s worries about her are unnecessary. In other words, Ginny has already moved on.
"She has gotten over Vesey’s death. I think I should be happy for her, but I also find it amusing that the girl who once chased after Vesey like a moth drawn to a flame might not even like her anymore.
"I suspect she has a new lover.
"My guess was correct.
"Ginny told me that she had married someone else. She even showed me the ring on her finger.
"Ginny told me that the man was a Muggle. According to their customs, after getting married, couples give each other rings and wear them on their ring fingers as a symbol of marriage.
"I was a little shocked when I heard that.
"But no matter what, I still gave her my blessing. I believe Vesey would be happy to see this scene.
"Ginny sat there without saying anything for a while. She drank two glasses of water before finally telling me that she hadn’t originally intended to come and see me.
"When Mrs. Weasley went to visit her, Ginny had secretly looked at her schedule. She became bored, so she changed the schedule and came to visit me instead.
"I never expected Mrs. Weasley to come looking for me. She had learned about me from Mr. Weasley.
"She felt very sorry about what had happened, so she came specifically to apologize.
"I told her that if Ginny had truly moved on, she should go back and see Mrs. Weasley. I believe Mrs. Weasley would be happy to see that her daughter was doing well.
"But Ginny said nothing.
"She stared into the distance for a while.
"I noticed that she was looking toward the direction of Godric’s Hollow.
"Was she thinking about Vesey?
"I’m not sure, and I don’t think it matters.
"Since she has moved on, she shouldn’t keep dwelling on the people she left behind. Since she has decided to move forward, she should keep moving forward.
"After a while, she told me that Vesey had once saved her life.
"I knew about it. It happened during Vesey’s second year, when she saved Ginny after Ginny was dragged into the Chamber of Secrets.
"It seems that incident also caused an accident involving one of the professors.
"He was a professor who had written many books. He forgot who he was and ended up spending the rest of his life in St. Mungo’s.
"Vesey told me helplessly at the time that it had been an accident.
"She had realized not long after arriving at Hogwarts that the professor was a fraud, but she had never intended to hurt him.
"Yet the professor treated her badly in the end and even tried to use a Memory Charm on her.
"Who could have known that something would go wrong with the spell?
"The professor ultimately ended up in St. Mungo’s for the rest of his life.
"Vesey did research a way to reverse the spell at the time. She had been hesitating over whether she should undo it for the professor.
"But she hesitated again.
"Because she later learned that the professor had done many terrible things, and those things had brought misfortune upon many people.
"That made her unwilling to undo the spell.
"She thought perhaps this was the professor’s punishment.
"This may have been the first time in Vesey’s life that she genuinely disliked someone.
"I understand her.
"She is human too. She is bound to have people she doesn’t like.
"But her dislike has always been directed toward bad people. I have never seen her genuinely dislike a good person.
"I told Ginny that Vesey had saved many people, so she didn’t need to worry about it.
"Vesey also hoped that Ginny could forget the past and live her own life.
"Ginny looked at me emotionally and said that I was the first person to forgive her like this.
"Everyone else who knew Vesey would tell her to get lost as soon as they heard that she had found someone else to marry.
"I felt guilty and didn’t say anything.
"Because, just a moment ago, I had wanted to say the same thing.
"She probably saw the guilt on my face.
"And for the first time since arriving here, she smiled.
"That smile suddenly made her look much younger, almost like the girl she had been when she was with Vesey many years ago.
"Ginny suddenly stood up.
"She told me that the ring was a lie.
"She had originally wanted me to send a message to Mrs. Weasley, telling her that she was married so that her mother would stop worrying.
"But she couldn’t pretend in front of me.
"She couldn’t show off some imaginary married life.
"She looked at me comforting her from Vesey’s point of view, and her heart ached.
"Yet she still begged me to write to Mrs. Weasley and tell her that she was married, that she had moved on, and that she would no longer be sad over Vesey.
"She still loves her mother.
"But Mrs. Weasley always forces her to get married and even threw away all of Vesey’s belongings.
"That made it impossible for Ginny to face her mother again.
"Of course, she also promised me that she wouldn’t commit suicide.
"Vesey had once told her that there were many beautiful things in life and that love wasn’t the only thing worth living for.
"That made me feel relieved.
"She was right.
"I really should pass those words on to Cassandra.
"I hope she can live well.
"After that awkward moment, Ginny and I became closer.
"She told me that she was now the captain of the Quidditch team and that they had even played in a world-class match.
"She really is busy if she doesn’t even have time to go home.
"She also told me that she had originally dreamed of playing Quidditch because of Harry, because Harry had been the first person she ever liked.
"She once thought that Harry was her whole world.
"She would blush whenever she saw Harry.
"She had even thought about establishing a Harry Potter Protection Society.
"Who could have imagined that she would eventually fall for Vesey instead?
"She said with a laugh that luckily Vesey hadn’t taken her childish behavior back then seriously. Otherwise, she would have died of embarrassment.
"Now, whenever she sees Harry, she still blushes.
"But it isn’t the blush of admiration and affection she once had.
"It is the blush of remembering all the embarrassing things she used to do.
"I laughed loudly at her.
"Then the two of us went out and bought a great deal of food before going to Vesey’s grave to share the happiness of that moment with her.
"We talked until late at night before Ginny took me home.
"After we arrived, she hesitated for a while before asking me:
’Have you seen Harry recently?’
"I nodded, because Harry had indeed been here.
"She immediately looked serious and told me to stay away from Harry.
"She had always felt that something about Harry’s soul was corrupted, although she couldn’t explain exactly what was wrong.
"She wanted to question Harry carefully, but Harry always avoided the subject.
"He had even stopped contacting her recently.
"I thought about what I had previously heard from Harry.
"After hesitating for a while, I decided not to tell her that Harry might have killed someone.
"Harry was doing what he believed was right.
"Perhaps I shouldn’t expose him.
"Besides, I think that if I told Ginny what Harry had done, she might follow the same path.
"Although she seems fine now, I know she wouldn’t truly be happy.
"Even the smile lines on her face have disappeared.
"That isn’t the expression of a happy person.
"I don’t want her to walk down a road from which there is no return.
"This is the little thing I can do as Vesey’s friend.
"Besides, I don’t think Vesey would want them to keep killing one another."
