Chapter 2: Granger’s Fear

London.

Granger Dental Clinic.

Hermione listened to her father talk about the guests he had met that day, her eyes bright and sparkling.

Every now and then, she would let out an exclamation of surprise.

"Wow, Dad, you’re amazing!"

Her praise made Mr. Granger smile.

"What’s that?"

Little Hermione suddenly tilted her head and saw something she had only ever seen on television.

A black diary was floating in front of her.

The moment she saw it, she somehow knew how to use it.

Open it.

And never reveal its existence to anyone by any means.

She didn’t believe it, so she opened her mouth to tell her father about it.

But the moment she opened her mouth, she forgot everything she had wanted to say.

She hurried upstairs, intending to write everything down.

But when she picked up a pen, she discovered that she had forgotten how to write.

However, as long as what she wanted to write had nothing to do with the diary, she wasn’t affected in the slightest.

"Did the devil do this?"

Her eyes widened in horror.

"Go away! I don’t want to look at you!"

She tried to throw the diary away, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t move the floating diary even a fraction.

Before she could even think about what to do, the diary opened by itself. Without the slightest breeze, its pages slowly turned until the first page was revealed.

Hermione didn’t want to look at it, but wherever she went, the diary remained right in front of her. In the end, she had no choice but to give in.

"Even if it’s some kind of demon, there’s nothing I can do about it."

She thought desperately.

Her eyes finally fell upon the diary.

Lines of black writing slowly appeared on the page.

July 5, 2023

Today, I met the Potter family at the cemetery.

Harry Potter took the initiative to greet me, a Muggle, which reminded me of Vesey once again.

It has been fifteen years since Vesey passed away.

I’ve had many friends throughout my life, and Vesey was undoubtedly one of the most special.

Especially considering that, as a woman, she married five women.

It was truly an incredible thing.

Even in this day and age, homosexuality is still enough to attract plenty of attention, let alone the fact that she found so many women to marry.

But the reason I became her good friend wasn’t because of how many women she had. It was because she saved me, a Muggle.

And she did it with magic.

That’s right.

The word "Muggle" was taught to me by Vesey. It refers to people who don’t know magic.

Vesey was an extremely powerful witch.

But when I met her, she was already dying.

At the time, her wives had taken her on a trip. They said they simply wanted her to enjoy the last part of her life in comfort.

Naturally, I was incredibly grateful that she had saved me, so I prepared all kinds of medicinal meals for her as a way of thanking her.

The medicinal food helped ease her pain, and she liked me very much because of it.

Gradually, we became close friends who could talk about anything.

She told me that she was Harry Potter’s twin sister.

Apparently, even her parents hadn’t known about her birth.

Later, an accident occurred and she experienced a magical outburst. The Ministry of Magic discovered her and eventually learned that she was actually Harry Potter’s biological sister.

But no one knew exactly how she had ended up living outside her family.

I asked her who Harry Potter was, and she told me that Harry Potter was the savior of the wizarding world, her favorite brother, and someone she loved dearly.

I was curious.

If he was her favorite brother and the one who loved her most, then why was she in this condition while Harry Potter wasn’t even by her side?

She told me that her brother, Harry Potter, was currently the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic and a very powerful wizard.

And Harry Potter didn’t know that she was sick. He simply thought she was out traveling with her wives and having a good time.

"What is the Department of Magical Law Enforcement?"

I asked her curiously.

She didn’t mind explaining it to me.

She told me in detail that it was a department of the Ministry of Magic staffed by powerful Aurors and other officials, responsible for capturing criminals and handling various matters of magical law enforcement.

It suddenly dawned on me.

So it was basically their equivalent of our public security department!

If that was the case, then her brother was the head of their public security department.

He really was a high-ranking official.

If I had such a high-ranking brother, I definitely wouldn’t want to hold back his future.

But after spending more time with Vesey, I realized that she was unwilling to tell her brother about her condition because she was afraid he would blame himself.

She told me that during the final battle, she had taken a Killing Curse meant for Harry Potter.

It was a curse used to kill people.

She had a protective artifact on her.

It had been given to her by a professor named Snape.

That’s why she hadn’t died immediately.

But the Killing Curse was simply too powerful.

Even though she had survived it at the time, she couldn’t possibly hold on for more than a few years.

As she spoke, she suddenly coughed several times, bringing up several mouthfuls of blood.

One of her wives, a woman named Hermione Granger, immediately wiped the blood from her mouth with concern.

I could tell that Miss Granger loved Vesey very much.

Her eyes were red, but she still refused to let Vesey see her tears.

That made me curious about Miss Granger’s identity.

I had thought she was just an ordinary woman. How could a wealthy and powerful woman be willing to share her lover with others?

Vesey told me that Miss Granger was already the Minister for Magic.

She was the only Muggle-born witch in history to become Minister for Magic.

I looked at Miss Granger in surprise.

"Minister for Magic? Then you must have plenty of free time!"

Miss Granger was silent for a moment before telling me that she wasn’t idle at all.

She was extremely busy.

Very, very busy.

But she would rather spend every night dealing with official business than leave Vesey unattended.

"She doesn’t have much time left."

Miss Granger said this while holding back her tears.

"If she says something that bothers you, could you please bear with her? I can tell that she enjoys talking to you. She even told you about the magical world."

I didn’t understand.

"Can’t we talk about things from the magical world?"

Hermione shook her head.

"It’s not that we can’t talk about it. We’re only allowed to reveal the existence of the magical world to Muggles who have magical relatives. After all, if everyone found out that wizards existed, it would cause a great deal of trouble."

I was about to ask Vesey whether she had broken the rules by telling me all these things and whether she would be punished for it.

But then I looked at Miss Granger in front of me and understood.

After all, Miss Granger was the Minister for Magic. Surely she could take care of something this minor.

Miss Granger privately asked me not to ask Vesey why she had experienced a magical outburst in the past. Doing so would reopen Vesey’s deepest wound.

I didn’t press the matter at the time.

Later, however, I learned that Vesey had lived in an orphanage in London called Angel Babies until she was eleven years old.

It was a place involved in a dark criminal enterprise.

Vesey had been handed over to a powerful figure because of her beauty.

He abused her.

If Vesey’s magic hadn’t erupted and killed him, he would have...

But even so, by the time the wizards found Vesey, she was already on the verge of death.

From then on, Vesey became extremely afraid of men.

Even her own brother couldn’t touch her without making her panic.

I still remember the date when Miss Granger told me about it.

July 8, 1991.

Miss Granger remembered it with absolute clarity.

She told me that if she could go back in time, she would personally kill those people and avenge Vesey.

Unfortunately, all I could do was talk about it.

After all, it had already happened.

Come to think of it, Miss Granger was dead too.

The year after Vesey’s death, she committed suicide in front of Vesey’s tombstone, bringing her short life to an end.

I think she must have loved Vesey very, very much, didn’t she?
