Chapter Twenty-Five: The Appearance of Malfoy

Seeing Harry and Ron defending her, Vesey smiled, pulled them both closer, and said:

"I’ve been here since the beginning. Professor Snape sent me directly to this compartment today."

Hermione frowned.

Professor Snape?

She had seen that name in her diary.

In fact, she had memorized the diary by now and remembered its contents very clearly.

Professor Snape had been mentioned in the first diary entry.

She remembered that he had given Vesey an artifact to prevent her from dying on the spot.

He should be a good person.

So the good Professor had sent Vesey to this compartment.

But why this compartment instead of another one?

Hermione immediately wondered whether Professor Snape had also seen the diary.

She was a little worried.

She didn’t know what effect it would have on Vesey if someone else could see the diary.

But the Professor Snape described in the diary seemed like a good person.

A good person should treat Vesey kindly, right?

After all, he had sent Vesey to this compartment to stay with Harry Potter!

Hermione breathed a sigh of relief.

Her previous confidence returned.

"My name is Hermione Granger. What are your names?"

She looked toward Vesey.

Vesey smiled.

"Vesey Potter. This is my brother, Harry Potter, and this is Ronald, Ronald Weasley!"

Hermione glanced at Vesey.

Then she asked, "Are you and Harry Potter brother and sister?"

Vesey nodded.

Hermione wanted to ask more questions, but Harry and Ron beside her were already impatient.

"Are you done? You should leave."

"Yes, you should go back to your own compartment!"

Hermione snorted.

Not only did she not leave, she sat down beside Vesey and said loudly:

"I just wanted to talk to some children from wizarding families. Which of you can use magic?"

Harry shook his head.

Ron remained silent.

Hermione scoffed.

"It seems children from wizarding families aren’t much better than us!"

She said this disdainfully.

Then she turned to Vesey.

"I’ve tried many spells at home, and quite a few of them worked. What about you? Have you been reading at home?"

Vesey shook her head.

She looked guilty, lowered her head, and said:

"Sorry, I haven’t."

Hermione had originally thought that if Vesey were a girl who didn’t read, she definitely wouldn’t become friends with her.

But when she saw Vesey lower her head, she suddenly felt guilty for no reason.

Just as she was about to say that it didn’t matter, she saw that Harry and Ron were already furious.

"What’s wrong with not reading? You’re just showing off!"

"Vesey is just an idiot. We’ll take care of her, so you don’t need to worry about it!"

The two of them spoke angrily.

Hermione snorted.

She swallowed the words she had been about to say to Vesey.

She turned around and prepared to leave, deciding to stay away from these ignorant fools.

But when she saw Vesey’s emerald-green eyes, she couldn’t help saying one last thing:

"The train will be arriving at the station soon. Hurry up and change your clothes. And... read more books!"

It would have been fine if she hadn’t added that last sentence.

But adding it made it sound almost like a provocation.

Harry and Ron were furious.

"Read more books? It’s as if she’s already read every book there is. Who does she think she is?"

"She’s really too arrogant. I hope she doesn’t get sorted into the same House as Vesey. Otherwise, I’m worried she’ll bully Vesey."

Harry looked at Vesey worriedly.

It was as though he could already see Vesey being bullied by Hermione in the future.

"Don’t play with her anymore!"

Harry said seriously.

Vesey didn’t object.

After all, Hermione was very straightforward at this age, and spending time with her was actually rather exhausting.

Let’s wait until after Halloween!

So she obediently nodded.

"I know, Brother. I’ll definitely listen to you."

Harry rubbed her head affectionately.

No wonder everyone wants a little sister.

My sister is so obedient.

He silently thanked his parents once again for giving him such a wonderful sister.

"By the way, Brother, you and Ron still need to change your clothes. I’ll go outside first!"

Vesey looked at the scenery outside and realized that the train was about to arrive at the station, so she quickly reminded Harry.

Harry nodded.

But instead of letting Vesey leave, he took Ron with him and walked out.

Ron was still holding his clothes, waiting for Vesey to leave, when Harry pulled him away.

Ron asked in confusion:

"We’re changing clothes. Why did you pull me out?"

Harry gave him a disdainful look.

"Why would you let my sister stay inside while you’re changing clothes? It’s so chaotic outside, and she’s so young and well-behaved. What if something scares her?"

Ron: "..."

Fine!

What else can I do?

The two of them could only shamelessly find an empty compartment to change clothes before returning to find Vesey.

"It’s being spread everywhere. Everyone is talking about it, saying that Harry Potter has a twin sister..."

Not long after Harry and Ron returned to the compartment, three boys walked in.

There was a handsome boy in the middle whom Harry immediately recognized.

It was the unpleasant boy he had met in Diagon Alley.

As they spoke, they looked at Harry and Vesey, seemingly having already determined that these were the two people they were looking for.

Harry immediately stepped in front of Vesey.

He looked warily at the three boys.

"It seems you’re Harry Potter. And the one behind you..."

The boy looked at Vesey and immediately blushed.

I knew it.

Harry Potter’s sister is so pretty!

He immediately extended his hand.

"So, let’s get to know each other."

He pointed at the two boys beside him.

"This is Goyle, and this is Crabbe. I’m Draco—Draco Malfoy."

Ron scoffed.

Malfoy immediately looked at him.

"Why are you laughing? Do you think my name is funny?

"No need to ask. I know you’re a poor member of the Weasley family. My father told me that all the Weasleys have red hair, are covered in freckles, and have so many children that they can’t afford to raise them properly!"

Then he looked back at Harry.

"Harry Potter, you should know who would be the best friend for you. No one would want to associate with a low-class Weasley!"

He held out his hand.

But Harry refused.

He said coldly:

"I know exactly who the low-class one is, and I won’t be friends with you!"

Malfoy’s face reddened slightly.

He looked at Vesey again.

"So, Miss Potter, are you willing to be friends with me? I have a white peacock at home that’s very popular with ladies, as well as all kinds of gemstones. Look at this watch..."
