Chapter Thirty-Seven: Third Diary Entry
Vesey looked at Harry’s expression and really wanted to tell him: It’s not that Snape doesn’t like you. He hates you.
After all, in the original story, Harry had the advantage of possessing Lily’s eyes, which kept Snape from being too harsh on him.
But now that Vesey was here, Snape no longer needed to look into Harry’s eyes and see Lily.
Naturally, he would be even more disgusted with Harry.
The fact that he hadn’t already gone over and beaten Harry up was probably only because of Lily.
But Vesey obviously couldn’t let Harry know any of this yet, so she could only keep her mouth shut regretfully.
"Let’s go eat!"
Harry grabbed Vesey and headed toward the Great Hall.
Ron followed them as well, happily talking about what he had heard the previous night.
Of course, they also asked Vesey worriedly whether Snape disliked her.
They had heard that Vesey was living alone in a dormitory.
Vesey shook her head.
"Professor Snape is doing it for my own good. I know he’s worried that the others might bully me."
"Really?"
Harry was a little unconvinced.
Everyone else could live together, talking and laughing. Was Snape really being kind by making Vesey live alone?
"Maybe he did it on purpose..."
"I’d hate to let the famous Harry Potter doubt my sincerity!"
Just as Harry was about to tell Vesey to be more careful, an eerie voice suddenly sounded from behind him.
He subconsciously turned around and came face-to-face with Snape.
Those empty eyes nearly made Harry jump out of his skin.
"Vesey, it’s time to eat. I assume you haven’t forgotten that you’re not completely recovered yet, have you?"
Vesey nodded quickly.
"See you again!"
Snape looked down at Harry.
After Vesey said goodbye to Harry, Snape immediately took her to the Slytherin table without even looking back at Harry.
Once he saw Vesey obediently sit down at the Slytherin table, he raised an eyebrow at Harry with a sinister expression.
Harry: "..."
Why does this feel so strange?
While Harry was still racking his brain, he suddenly heard Ron say in amazement:
"If I hadn’t known that Vesey was your sister, I would’ve almost thought Snape was her father!
"Do you know? There used to be a boy in our neighborhood who always wanted to play with Ginny, and my dad would get really angry whenever he saw him.
"Even though Dad never scolded the boy, he’d just take Ginny away right in front of him. Snape’s expression just now was exactly the same as my dad’s for a moment!"
Harry listened blankly to Ron’s comments about Snape, and his impression of the professor gradually began to change.
It did seem to make sense.
If some boy kept pestering Vesey, Harry would probably get angry too and pull her away.
Harry was just about to accept this explanation when he suddenly realized something.
He’s Vesey’s family. He’s her brother. He’s qualified to do that.
But who is Snape?
How could a professor prevent siblings from spending time together?
Sure enough, Snape simply didn’t like him, did he?
Harry gritted his teeth and really wanted to rush over to the Slytherin table and drag Vesey away himself.
But when he saw Snape watching him from the staff table, he restrained the urge.
Forget it. I’ll go find Vesey next time.
Vesey really should eat lunch.
She was so small. It would be even more pitiful if she didn’t eat.
Yes, that was it.
It definitely wasn’t because he thought he couldn’t beat Snape.
...
After dinner, Vesey returned to the Slytherin common room under Snape’s watchful gaze.
There weren’t many people in the common room. Most of the students had returned to their dormitories to rest.
Vesey planned to take advantage of this opportunity to write another diary entry.
She had spoken with Professor McGonagall today and confirmed that she was no different from the Professor McGonagall in the original story.
She had already thought about how to complete the third diary entry.
Vesey took the diary out of the System and turned to the third page.
At the same time.
In the Great Hall, Professor McGonagall, who was still keeping an eye on the Gryffindors to make sure they weren’t causing trouble, suddenly knocked over a bowl of soup.
She subconsciously cleaned the soup from her robes, but her gaze remained fixed in front of her.
A black diary was there.
The diary slowly descended in front of her before gently opening to the first page.
Professor McGonagall’s expression hardened.
"Quirrell, have you ever..."
She couldn’t continue.
She discovered that she couldn’t say anything related to the diary.
She drew her wand and tried casting a spell, but it had no effect.
"I’ve finished eating."
She quickly calmed herself, stood up, and left.
After returning to her office, Professor McGonagall cast one spell after another at the diary.
Useless.
Useless.
The diary remained completely untouched, almost as though it were mocking her helplessness.
She frowned and could only look at the words appearing on its pages.
What kind of terrifying existence is targeting me?
"July 5, 2023."
"Today, I met the Potter family at the cemetery..."
Professor McGonagall wiped her eyes and opened the second page of the diary.
"August 30, 2023."
"I haven’t written in my diary for a month, and today I don’t feel calm at all..."
After Professor McGonagall finished reading the second diary entry, she shook her head with reddened eyes before turning to the third entry.
"September 1, 2023."
"Today, I saw an owl flying over to Peter’s house next door, with a letter tied to its leg. Speaking of which, even after so many years, I’m still surprised that an owl can do so many things."
"Because I was apparently acquainted with a professor at Hogwarts, Peter’s family invited me to come along and listen to their child’s letter."
"The letter said that the headmaster of Hogwarts was Minerva McGonagall. I seemed to have heard that name before, but I didn’t tell them. I simply made an excuse and went home."
"I thought about it for a long time at home before finally remembering who she was."
"This Professor McGonagall seems to be Vesey’s Transfiguration professor. She was also invited to help during Vesey’s final days, but she obviously couldn’t do anything. I saw her crying outside the door."
"When she saw me, she quickly wiped away her tears. She didn’t want to cry in front of me."
"The two of us also talked for a long time. During our conversation, she said that she had seen off Vesey’s grandparents, Vesey’s parents, Headmaster Dumbledore, and many of her students."
"Now, she also have to see Vesey, who has been left all alone."
