Chapter 44: He Just Hates Us!

No one cared about what Hermione was thinking anymore.

Snape was in a good mood, so he stopped making things difficult for Harry and officially began the lesson.

He divided the students into pairs and instructed them to brew a potion for treating scabies.

Vesey was paired with Cassandra.

Snape stood beside her, happily watching Vesey brew the potion.

He thought Vesey’s method of handling the ingredients was excellent and kept pointing out her techniques and ingredients to the students around her.

While Vesey was brewing the potion, Snape practically stayed by her side.

However, after confirming that Vesey was indeed very good at brewing potions, he finally moved a short distance away.

He deliberately picked on the Gryffindor students, asking them questions and deducting points whenever they failed to answer.

Especially Harry.

Snape practically drained Gryffindor’s points through him.

Vesey held back her laughter as she brewed her potion.

Fortunately, she had thoroughly studied the textbook, so there was basically no chance of making a mistake.

Just as Vesey was watching Snape look for trouble with Harry, a plume of acidic green smoke suddenly rose from the dungeon.

Then came the unmistakable hissing sound of a cauldron being burned through.

Somehow, Neville had managed to burn Seamus’s cauldron into a twisted mess.

The potion inside spilled wildly over the surrounding students.

Snape immediately turned around and pulled Vesey into his arms.

After all the potion had spilled out, he drew his wand and, with a dark expression, cleaned every trace of it from the floor.

Only then did he release Vesey.

Seeing the burns caused by the potion on the surrounding students, as well as Neville’s red and swollen appearance, Vesey couldn’t help feeling a moment of silence for him.

Of course, to maintain her character, Vesey immediately rushed toward Neville and pointed her wand at him.

"Heal!"

Neville immediately felt a little better, but he still couldn’t help crying.

Vesey looked at Snape with a helpless expression.

"Professor, what spell should I use? I don’t know what to do!"

A trace of nostalgia flashed through Snape’s eyes.

He reached out and gently ruffled her hair.

"I think what you should do is return to your seat. Your professor will take care of everything here."

Vesey didn’t leave. She still looked worried.

Snape had no choice but to turn toward Neville and shout:

"Go upstairs to the hospital wing and get yourself checked!"

After shouting, he noticed that Vesey still looked concerned.

"It only takes a couple of potions to cure it."

Vesey finally relaxed.

She returned to her seat.

Snape turned toward Seamus.

"What’s the matter with you? Why didn’t you stop that idiot when he released the porcupine quills?"

Seamus was speechless.

Snape felt a little better after scolding him.

Then he walked around Harry twice before inexplicably turning his attention on him.

"Why didn’t you stop Longbottom? Ten points from Gryffindor for failing to look after your classmate!"

Harry stared at him in disbelief.

Even after Snape walked away in a good mood, Harry still hadn’t recovered.

It wasn’t until Ron nudged him that he lowered his voice and cursed in disbelief.

"Is he sick? Is he crazy?"

Ron also wanted to say that Snape didn’t seem like a normal person.

But when he noticed Snape’s eyes searching in their direction, he quickly kicked Harry.

"Shut up! Gryffindor has already lost enough points because of you today!"

An hour later, Harry and Ron dragged Vesey out of the Potions classroom.

Neither of them was in a good mood.

Harry felt particularly aggrieved.

Thirty points had been deducted because of him during their first week at school.

He genuinely couldn’t understand why Snape seemed to hold such a grudge against him.

"Actually, Professor Snape is pretty good. He’s just strict..."

Vesey stood beside them and spoke hesitantly.

Harry and Ron stared at her in disbelief.

"Don’t be stupid, Vesey. He just hates us. What professor asks a first-year about sixth-year material during the very first lesson?"

Because Snape had asked Vesey so many questions, Harry thought that Snape didn’t like Vesey either.

"When you were brewing the potion, he stood right beside you. Luckily, you did a good job, so he couldn’t find an excuse to deduct your points."

Harry was still furious.

"I’m telling you, he just hates the two of us. And he deliberately gave you a separate dormitory. He wants you to be alone without any friends!"

Vesey shook her head helplessly.

"But I don’t think Professor Snape is targeting me. He asked me a lot of questions, but he also gave me fifty points!"

Harry and Ron looked even more exasperated.

"He didn’t give you points at all. He gave them to Slytherin. You were fooled by him..."

Harry practically wore out his lips trying to make Vesey realize how sinister Snape was.

Unfortunately, Vesey, who knew the plot beforehand, firmly believed that Professor Snape was a good person.

This made Harry and Ron secretly wonder whether Snape had brainwashed her.

They looked at Vesey with growing pity.

Vesey always felt that, in their eyes, she was no different from those delinquent youths who had been tricked into joining a cult-like organization.

Fortunately, Snape finally came out at that moment.

Harry and Ron were startled.

They grabbed Vesey and ran away without looking back.

Before dinner in the Great Hall, Harry told Vesey that Hagrid had invited them to visit him at three in the afternoon.

Vesey nodded.

"No problem."

She would go after eating and take a nap first.

3:00 p.m.

They left the castle and crossed the grounds toward the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Hagrid lived in a small wooden house on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Vesey looked curiously at Hagrid’s home.

There was a stone bow and a pair of rubber boots outside the door.

The boots were so enormous that Vesey felt like she could probably fit herself inside one.

Just then, the door opened.

A huge black hound rushed out.

It crashed straight into Vesey’s arms.

"Fang! Get up quickly! You’re about to knock Vesey over!"

Hagrid shouted loudly.

Then he looked at Fang with surprise.

"Well, it seems Fang really likes you, Vesey. He rarely does this with people. Looks like he’s very happy to see you."
