Hogwarts Diary: Snape Goes Crazy
Chapter 45: He Does’nt Like Vesey
Chapter 45: Chapter 45: He Does’nt Like Vesey
Chapter Forty-Five: He does not Like Vesey
Before she transmigrated, Vesey had loved cats and dogs.
But because her family wouldn’t let her keep pets, she had eventually given up on the idea.
The most she could do was visit cat and dog cafés outside.
But now that there was a free dog right in front of her, how could she possibly let the opportunity go to waste?
So Vesey petted Fang enthusiastically several times until he finally collapsed onto the ground.
Only then was she reluctantly dragged into the cabin by Hagrid.
"No one just stands outside someone else’s house without coming in!"
Hagrid said helplessly as he peeled potatoes.
Vesey gave him an embarrassed smile.
"I just like Fang so much..."
A smile appeared on Hagrid’s face.
"I know. You’re always so lovable. Even Fang likes you a lot. Look at him! He wants to go home with you!"
He helplessly pointed toward Fang, who was lying against the window outside, wagging his tail furiously at Vesey.
Vesey laughed twice.
In her previous life, she had even taken classes to learn how to properly interact with animals just so she could pet them.
This wasn’t the first time she’d teased someone else’s cat or dog until it wanted to follow her home.
Hagrid could hardly bring himself to be angry with Vesey.
Vesey liked Fang, and that made him happy.
"This is Ron, right?"
Hagrid turned toward Ron.
Ron nodded.
Hagrid shook his head and sighed.
"I really wasted so much effort trying to drive those two brothers of yours out of the Forbidden Forest!"
He took a large pile of rock cakes from the cupboard and placed them in front of them.
"Try one. They taste pretty good!"
As Hagrid spoke, he noticed that the kettle was boiling and poured each of them another cup of tea.
Vesey curiously picked up a piece of rock cake and took a bite.
It really was hard enough to break her teeth.
But if she bit into it carefully and took her time, she had to admit Hagrid was right.
Apart from being ridiculously hard, the rock cake actually tasted pretty good.
So Vesey began battling the rock cake with determination.
After finally chewing through one, she noticed that Harry and the others had discovered the newspaper article about the break-in at Gringotts.
"Hagrid, the day Gringotts was robbed happened to be my birthday. We also went to Gringotts to withdraw some money. Do you think we might have passed the thief at the time?"
Hagrid immediately lowered his head and avoided Harry’s eyes.
"Right, let’s not talk about that anymore. Let’s talk about the start of the school year!"
Harry still wanted to ask Hagrid about it, but Hagrid refused to answer anything concerning Gringotts.
Harry immediately understood.
"Is the thing the thief wanted to steal the same thing you took away that day, Hagrid? Hagrid, what are you talking about?"
he asked excitedly.
Hagrid vaguely told them to forget about it.
Then he turned toward Vesey.
"Vesey, don’t worry about him. Tell me, how have you been these past few days?"
Vesey took a sip of tea and nodded.
"Very well. The professors seem to like me. It must be because I work hard. I’ll work even harder from now on!"
She clenched her fists as she spoke, as though making a solemn vow.
Hagrid looked surprised.
Ron quickly explained, "Vesey has face blindness. She doesn’t know that she’s beautiful. Honestly, even if she were a complete idiot, the professors would still like her because of how cute she is!"
Hagrid suddenly understood.
"I heard Vesey mention it before. How could this poor child have such a condition? I wonder if Madam Pomfrey can do anything about it?"
Harry shook his head.
"No. Madam Pomfrey said it’s a psychological problem. It’s something in the wizard’s mind.
"It’s like my eyesight. If I can’t believe that there’s nothing wrong with my eyes, then I can’t get rid of my glasses."
Hagrid sighed and sympathetically patted Vesey’s head.
"Listen to Harry. You have to be more confident in yourself from now on!"
Vesey shook her head with a fake smile.
"I don’t believe it! You all think I’m pretty because you like me. I already know that I’m ugly!"
Harry and Ron sighed.
Vesey was always like this.
The children at the orphanage had been jealous of her appearance and had hurt her because of it.
Even now, no matter how many people told her that she was beautiful, she still couldn’t believe them.
Fortunately, it wasn’t a serious problem.
At least Vesey seemed to be doing quite well now.
"All the other professors at Hogwarts like Vesey, but Snape doesn’t like either Vesey or me..."
Hagrid immediately looked up.
"Nonsense! Professor Snape definitely likes Vesey!"
Harry was unconvinced.
"But he asked Vesey questions all the way up to sixth-year material!"
Harry tried to use this as evidence that Snape was targeting Vesey.
But Hagrid suddenly thought of something else.
"Vesey, are you telling me you’ve already learned everything you’re supposed to know by sixth year?"
Vesey nodded sheepishly.
"I’m too stupid. I just wanted to learn some things in advance. I still haven’t memorized a lot of it. Otherwise, I would’ve been able to answer Professor Snape’s questions."
Hagrid was astonished.
"How did you get a brain like that?"
Vesey pretended to stare blankly at him for a moment.
Then she thought about it and answered seriously.
"According to Muggle science, the human brain is divided into the left and right hemispheres. Among them..."
She proceeded to explain the concept in detail.
Her serious expression made Hagrid and the others burst out laughing.
Hagrid ruffled her hair.
"Oh, Vesey, you’re such a cute girl. No professor could possibly dislike you."
Harry immediately said, "Snape does!"
Vesey shook her head.
"Brother, Professor Snape likes me very much."
Hagrid nodded in agreement.
"Exactly. How could Professor Snape possibly dislike Vesey?"
The conversation returned to the same point again.
"He’s just very strict with everyone. Even with his own Slytherin students, he’ll discipline them when they do something wrong. He won’t deduct their House points, but he’ll punish them by putting them in detention!"
Hagrid explained reassuringly.
Harry scratched his hair irritably.
"Anyway, I just don’t think he likes me. And there’s no evidence that he does!"
This time, Harry forgot to mention Vesey when he spoke.
Hagrid’s eyes flickered.
He suddenly turned his attention to Fang, who was lying against the window and whining pitifully.
It was as though he had suddenly found something extremely interesting to study outside.
