Chapter Forty-Six: What to Say to My Sister!
During the second week of term, an announcement was posted on the notice board in the Slytherin common room.
Vesey knew it was about flying lessons without even looking at it.
Malfoy had been so excited about the announcement that he had been showing off to everyone in the Great Hall every day, bragging about how he had spent his childhood riding broomsticks and even chasing helicopters.
He also told the girls that his broom was covered in gems specially ordered by his mother. It was a one-of-a-kind broom.
Vesey watched as several Slytherin girls gasped in admiration and nearly crowded around Malfoy.
Malfoy glanced proudly at Vesey, clearly hoping to see envy on her face.
Unfortunately, Vesey disliked him immensely.
Vulgar!
She put on an exaggeratedly jealous expression.
When I get rich in the future, I’ll cover my broom in gems too. Then girls will like me as well!
But that was a matter for the future.
Right now, Vesey was thinking about flying lessons.
She didn’t really want to take them.
She had been afraid of heights in her previous life, and even now she had no desire to fly around in the air.
Besides, she didn’t think she had much talent for flying.
According to the system’s explanation, there was a good chance her Flying Talent was just as poor as her other talents.
Should I spend the remaining hundred or so Energy Points on Flying Talent?
After thinking about it, however, she gave up on the idea.
She had only a little over a hundred Energy Points left, so she had better use them sparingly. Even if she raised her Flying Talent to the level of an ordinary person, she still wouldn’t be able to compare with Harry and the others.
Forget it. It’s hopeless.
How could Vesey, who was so proud herself, possibly admire Malfoy for showing off his flying skills?
She merely snorted at him before leaving the Great Hall.
Malfoy watched her walk away in confusion.
What’s wrong with this girl?
Why couldn’t he get her attention no matter what he did?
Strange.
Malfoy genuinely wanted to pursue Vesey. It wasn’t merely because she was beautiful; he also felt that Vesey was interested in him.
After all, it was obvious that she was an unusual person who had somehow ended up in Slytherin, yet she never seemed to feel inferior in the slightest.
Malfoy saw her sweet smile every day and kept trying to find ways to get closer to her.
Who would have thought that after all that effort, Vesey would still dare to snort at him?
"She has no idea what she’s missing!"
Malfoy said angrily.
Pansy looked at him with a smile.
"Who is she? The one from the Potter family? All she thinks about now is her brother. What do you think she is?"
Malfoy became even more annoyed.
"Who is Harry Potter? How can he possibly compare with me? And she’s always hanging around with that poor Weasley. I wonder what kind of love potion those two idiots gave her!"
Pansy covered her mouth and laughed.
"No matter what, Harry Potter is the one who saved the wizarding world. In that respect, he’s already much better than you."
Malfoy’s face flushed.
"Saved it? Hmph! That’s only because Potter has no sense of judgment. Sooner or later, she’ll realize that if she wants to find a man, she should find someone like me!"
He clenched his fists.
"Just wait and see! When we have flying lessons, I’ll make that Harry Potter suffer and let Vesey see exactly how good I am!"
Still angry, Malfoy deliberately passed by the Gryffindor table after lunch.
He wanted to knock Harry’s food over, cover him in a mess, and then laugh at him.
But Harry and Ronald had already stood up, both looking at Malfoy warily.
Malfoy opened his mouth in annoyance.
Too late.
If only I’d come a little earlier.
Unwilling to leave without causing some trouble for Harry and the others, Malfoy’s eyes swept across the entire Gryffindor table.
They immediately landed on Neville’s crystal ball.
"It’s mine!"
He snatched the crystal ball and ran out of the Great Hall.
Harry and Ronald didn’t manage to catch him.
All they could do was comfort Neville and promise that they would take the crystal ball back the next time Malfoy showed up.
That opportunity would come soon enough.
---
Three o’clock.
Harry and the other Gryffindor students arrived on the lawn outside the castle for their flying lesson.
The weather was bright and sunny, with a pleasant breeze blowing across the grounds.
But when Harry saw someone standing beside his sister, he immediately felt uncomfortable.
It was Malfoy.
He was standing next to Vesey, saying something to her with a smug smile.
To be fair, Malfoy wasn’t ugly. In fact, he was rather handsome.
And when he spoke to Vesey, he wasn’t particularly obnoxious.
But in Harry’s eyes, he was simply the ugliest person in the world.
And now this ugly git was shamelessly hovering around his kind and innocent sister.
"What are you doing?"
Harry stormed over angrily.
He had heard Malfoy once again telling Vesey various things about flying.
"What rubbish are you talking about? Vesey, don’t listen to him. You’re only going to hurt your ears!"
Malfoy frowned at him.
"Why don’t you mind your own business?"
He really hated Harry Potter.
He had finally found something Vesey was interested in talking about, and after only a few sentences, Harry had interrupted them.
"Vesey, come here. Stop hanging around with those ungrateful people!"
Harry grabbed Vesey and pulled her over, positioning himself between her and Malfoy.
"Come on. If you have anything to say, say it now!"
Malfoy’s face turned red with fury.
"Just wait and see!"
He turned and walked over to where the Slytherin boys were standing on the other side of the field, occasionally glaring back at Harry.
Harry wasn’t afraid of him in the slightest.
He told Vesey to return to where she had been standing, then deliberately walked behind Malfoy and glared at him menacingly.
"If you dare take advantage of my sister, I’ll kill you!"
Malfoy scoffed.
"You’d better take a good look at yourself! If you embarrass yourself in front of Vesey during today’s flying lesson—tsk, tsk—you might as well stop calling yourself Vesey’s brother from now on!"
Harry’s expression turned ugly.
He had never ridden a broomstick before!
Just imagining Malfoy flying above him on a broom with Vesey sitting beside him made Harry clench his fists in anger.
Fortunately, Madam Hooch arrived at that moment.
Harry barely managed to suppress his urge to beat Malfoy right then and there.
"What are you all standing around for? Everyone, stand beside your broomstick and shout at it—’Up!’"
