Chapter Fifty-Six: Rewarding the Snake-like Voice
[Ding! The fourth diary has been completed. Evaluation commencing...]
[Ding! Diary holder Dumbledore’s trust level: 90%.]
[Ding! Diary holder Snape’s trust level: 100%.]
[Ding! Diary holder McGonagall’s trust level: 95%.]
[Ding! Diary holder Voldemort’s trust level: 80%.]
[Ding! Diary holder Hermione’s trust level: 100%.]
Vesey laughed excitedly.
That evening, after returning from their adventure with Harry, she immediately began writing in her diary.
She had been thinking about this diary entry for a long time.
She guessed that if Voldemort saw these diaries, he would definitely try to get rid of her.
How easy would it be to deal with a girl?
How easy would it be to ruin a girl?
Vesey knew Voldemort’s methods almost without having to think about them.
Although she wasn’t afraid, she had even considered deliberately causing a few incidents herself to increase her reputation in the wizarding world.
But she didn’t want to face Voldemort directly.
Even if Voldemort disliked her impure blood and sent someone else to deal with her, she would still find it disgusting.
Of course, she had to prepare for that possibility.
So she had written a whole series of things in her diary, trying to make Voldemort believe that he would eventually lose because Vesey blocked his Killing Curse.
But that would actually be Dumbledore’s plan.
Think about it.
Dumbledore had deliberately allowed Voldemort to kill her.
After experiencing something like that, even if Voldemort didn’t care about her, he would never dare touch her again.
Of course, this wasn’t completely safe.
Vesey decided to deepen her connection with Voldemort through future diary entries.
If Voldemort really wanted to come and do something to her, wouldn’t that mean he would end up being trapped by his own suspicions?
[Ding! The comprehensive evaluation of the fourth diary is S-Rank.]
[Ding! The host has obtained an S-Rank evaluation and has been granted another diary-holder slot. Would you like to draw now?]
[Ding! If the host does not draw now, the system will automatically draw a new diary holder before the next diary entry is written.]
Vesey was a little helpless.
It was time to draw another diary holder.
I hope it’s someone as easy to fool as Professor McGonagall, rather than monsters like Dumbledore and Voldemort who are so difficult to fool.
"Draw. Draw now!"
[Ding! Randomly selecting the next diary holder... Selection successful.]
[Ding! The next diary holder is: Cassandra.]
Vesey froze.
Cassandra?
Her beautiful Slytherin prefect?
That doesn’t seem easy to fool, does it?
But after thinking about it, she felt that there was nothing wrong with the choice.
After all, Cassandra had been kind to her from the very beginning, so her trust level shouldn’t be too low.
Vesey thought about it hesitantly.
It seems I’ll have to pay close attention to Cassandra from now on and figure out what kind of personality she has.
Hopefully, the next victim will be easier to deceive.
[Ding! The rewards have been prepared. Would the host like to receive them?]
"Receive!"
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for acquiring the talent skill: Parseltongue.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for acquiring the talent skill: Potion Improvement.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining the White Lotus Aura. Charm and temperament increased.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for acquiring the talent skill: Quick Spellcasting.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining 500 Energy.]
Vesey was speechless.
The rewards this time are a little outrageous!
With Parseltongue and the White Lotus Aura, she really didn’t look like a particularly good person.
But Parseltongue still surprised her.
What she had always wanted was to create the impression that there was some kind of special connection between herself and Voldemort.
She had been worried that she wouldn’t have anything to prove it.
Now that she had Parseltongue, if Voldemort really wasn’t afraid of getting involved with her, she could simply speak Parseltongue.
She was certain Voldemort would draw his own conclusions.
...
The next day.
As soon as class ended, Harry and the others pulled Vesey aside, and the three of them began discussing the enormous dog they had seen the previous night.
"Hermione told us that there was a trapdoor underneath the dog. It must be guarding something!"
Harry said excitedly.
"I don’t know what it is. I really wish we could take a look!"
Vesey shook her head.
"I think we should stay out of this kind of thing. We broke into that room, and I almost turned myself in to the professors last night."
Vesey sighed.
Harry shook his head helplessly.
Vesey simply had too strong a sense of morality.
If only he and Ron could be like that too, they wouldn’t have so many problems.
"I really wish you’d become a little bit bad, Vesey. You make the rest of us look terrible!"
Ron said with a sigh.
But when he saw Vesey’s embarrassed expression, he quickly added,
"I’m just kidding, Vesey. It’s a good thing that you’re nice. Wanting you to become bad would be a bad thing!"
"If Professor McGonagall heard me say that, she’d probably beat me to death!"
He added with some self-awareness.
Vesey laughed in amusement.
Harry and Ron then excitedly recounted their experiences from the previous night.
From time to time, they praised Vesey.
Because even now, it seemed that Vesey had saved their lives several times the previous night.
They were extremely proud of her.
They even wanted to find the other two people involved in the incident and discuss everything with them.
But much to Harry and Ron’s disappointment, neither Hermione nor Neville wanted to talk about what had happened the previous night.
Hermione waved them away, telling them not to disturb her studies.
Now that she knew her relationship with Vesey would improve after Halloween, she was no longer obsessed with establishing her presence in front of Harry and the others.
As for Neville...
He had been scared out of his wits.
Whenever anyone mentioned what had happened that night, his face immediately changed with fear.
Harry and Ron had no choice but to give up on the subject.
However, with Neville keeping his distance from them and Hermione no longer constantly ordering them around, Harry and Ron felt much more relaxed.
Every day after class, they would go play with Vesey.
They thought Vesey was really great.
When they played games, she never expected them to go easy on her like other girls did.
Moreover, Vesey could play just as well as they could.
She was as talented at games as she was at studying.
Even at Wizard’s Chess, Ron could barely beat her.
They really enjoyed days like this.
The only thing they regretted was that they had no way to get revenge on Malfoy.
They really wanted to beat Malfoy up or humiliate him.
But the opportunity soon came.
