Chapter Sixty-Eight: Cassandra’s Wrath

Slytherin Dungeons — Girls’ Dormitory

Cassandra stared at the five diaries before her with reddened eyes.

At first, when she learned that Vesey would have five wives in the future, she had felt somewhat disgusted.

She hated people like that most of all.

Whether someone liked men or women, they shouldn’t be so careless with their feelings.

But as she continued reading, she gradually began to feel sorry for Vesey.

Cassandra gently rubbed her eyes, her expression growing darker.

Will I really become one of Vesey’s wives in the future?

She couldn’t make sense of such feelings without knowing what had happened.

In fact, the first time she saw Vesey was on Hagrid’s shoulder.

The girl was holding onto Hagrid’s head, her little mouth slightly open, her face flushed with happiness and excitement.

At the time, Cassandra had thought:

This girl is quite pretty. But how can she sit on a man’s shoulder in such an undignified manner?

She wasn’t even wearing any headband or jewelry.

As someone who had been meticulously dressed since childhood, Cassandra had found the sight rather unpleasant.

But she was proud, and there was no way she would point out Vesey’s shortcomings in front of everyone.

So she simply turned her head away indifferently.

Who could have known that just two seconds later, Hagrid would grab Vesey and run off?

Cassandra stared after the two of them as they disappeared.

She couldn’t help rolling her eyes.

Later, Hagrid came running back in a panic, urging everyone to move forward.

Cassandra accidentally fell along the way.

That nearly made her furious.

Especially when she saw the girl sitting neatly inside the carriage, she almost wanted to take her anger out on her.

But...

Vesey apologized.

Her eyes were slightly red.

She even drew her wand and helped clean all the dirt from their robes.

Cassandra looked down at her spotless clothes and felt a little uncomfortable.

But then she thought about it.

It was that idiot Hagrid who caused this. It actually has nothing to do with Vesey.

The thought softened her somewhat.

Later, they boarded the boats.

Cassandra sat not far from Vesey and overheard her talking about her own appearance.

Cassandra had thought:

This is ridiculous. Doesn’t she know whether she’s attractive or not?

Then she was proven wrong.

Vesey really didn’t know.

She had prosopagnosia.

She couldn’t properly recognize faces—not even her own.

Everything she knew about her appearance came from what other people told her.

It was obvious that the people around her had been jealous of her appearance and had deliberately convinced her that she was ugly.

Cassandra carefully examined Vesey.

It was obvious that there was nothing wrong with her appearance.

She simply had extremely low self-esteem.

But she’s just the Savior’s sister. What does that have to do with me?

Cassandra shook her head and told herself to stop thinking about it.

The next time she noticed Vesey was in the small chamber before the Sorting.

As soon as the ghosts appeared, Vesey stepped in front of everyone.

Even though her legs were trembling with fear, she still wanted to stand in front of the others.

Cassandra sneered inwardly.

If those ghosts really were Death Eaters, the Savior’s sister could die in the next second.

Fortunately, the most frightening people at Hogwarts were probably the descendants of Death Eaters like themselves.

So Vesey remained unharmed and was even blessed by the ghost before proceeding to the Sorting.

Cassandra almost looked down on her.

Hufflepuff?

That house where everyone just eats all day?

I’ve heard it’s the house for losers.

Cassandra thought Vesey would be upset.

But no.

Vesey still looked happy.

Cassandra gave her a disdainful look.

She hadn’t expected this pretty little girl to be such a troublemaker.

Later, when the ghost left, Vesey leaned against Cassandra.

At first, Cassandra had merely been watching the commotion and was almost knocked over by the impact.

She became furious and genuinely wanted to push away the girl who had dared to grab her.

But then Vesey timidly said,

"My legs are weak..."

Cassandra ultimately gave in and allowed her to lean against her.

She still warned Vesey not to stand in front of everyone like that.

But Vesey seemed to think that protecting everyone was simply what she ought to do.

Before Cassandra could say anything else, she saw Harry Potter squeezing through the crowd.

The girl who had obviously been terrified moments ago immediately straightened up when she saw her brother.

Cassandra watched her leave and snorted.

Stupid girl.

You’ll definitely be sorted into Gryffindor—that ridiculous lion’s den.

But to her surprise, Vesey wasn’t sorted into Gryffindor.

The Sorting Hat bounced around and talked with her for a long time.

Cassandra even saw Professor McGonagall about to interrupt.

Then the Sorting Hat suddenly shouted:

"Slytherin!"

The stupid lion became a snake?

Cassandra couldn’t believe it.

Even after returning to the common room following dinner, she still found it unbelievable.

That feeling reached its peak when the Head of House entered and everyone immediately gathered around him, while Vesey was happily playing with the fish.

Did the Sorting Hat make a mistake?

How could someone like Vesey possibly belong in Slytherin?

Later, Cassandra learned that Vesey had apparently chosen Slytherin herself.

She seemed to like the Head of House very much.

And he was exceptionally kind to her.

He had even given her a dormitory all to herself.

She wasn’t required to participate in the prefect selection either.

Cassandra was a little envious.

But when she saw Vesey foolishly raising her hand as though she wanted to live with the other students, Cassandra couldn’t help complaining internally.

This stupid Savior’s sister.

Cassandra was far more capable.

She deserved to be a first-year prefect.

The next morning, while getting ready, Cassandra took a small crown from her dressing table.

It was a beautiful little crown decorated with precious stones.

She didn’t know why, but she suddenly felt that the little crown suited Vesey very well.

So she awkwardly handed it to her.

But Vesey immediately recoiled in fear.

Seeing her reddened eyes and hearing the words that escaped her mouth, Cassandra became furious.

How could the Savior’s sister have lived such a miserable life before?

Dumbledore had clearly told everyone that Vesey had been living in a sanatorium.

But that obviously wasn’t the whole truth.

At that moment, Cassandra couldn’t help feeling disgust toward Dumbledore.

The greatest wizard of all time?

He couldn’t even take proper care of the Savior’s sister.

She really wanted to tell the entire wizarding world about this and let all of Potter’s old friends confront Dumbledore.

Now, after reading the diary, Cassandra’s disgust toward Dumbledore had grown even stronger.

Vesey had suffered so much.

She had even been subjected to terrible abuse by a man, yet Dumbledore had completely concealed what had happened.

A sanatorium?

Cassandra’s expression darkened.

I think Dumbledore’s idea of a sanatorium must have been something completely different.
