Chapter 72 — The Little Princess?

But Ron saw things differently.

"Snape may want Harry to lose, but I think he wants Harry dead even more!"

Vesey immediately frowned.

"How could that be? Professor Snape clearly cares about my brother. How could he possibly want him dead?"

Harry and the others were speechless.

How had their silly little sister figured out that Snape was paying so much attention to Harry?

But when they thought about it carefully, Vesey actually had a point.

After all, Snape was always keeping an eye on Harry. The moment Harry made even the slightest mistake, Snape would catch him and deduct points without hesitation.

From that perspective, Snape really did pay an excessive amount of attention to Harry.

Harry and Ron were helpless.

In the end, they could only tell her what they knew.

"I discovered something about him. On Halloween, the night you blew up the troll, we saw him sneak out of the Great Hall and head upstairs."

Vesey was about to respond, but Harry continued.

"And there’s more! Snape’s leg was bitten yesterday, and the wound looked exactly like a dog bite. I recognized it immediately.

"You didn’t see how angry Snape looked at the time. He must have figured something out. I know he went looking for that three-headed dog. He—"

Hagrid suddenly put down his teacup.

He stared at them in shock.

"How do you know about the three-headed dog, Fluffy?"

Harry and the others were astonished.

"That dog’s name is Fluffy?"

Hagrid’s expression froze.

"This is a secret. I shouldn’t have told you..."

"What’s so secret about that? Isn’t it just the name of a dog?"

"You still don’t understand how important Fluffy is! Dumbledore even asked me to borrow Fluffy and use him to guard—"

"Guard what?"

Hagrid immediately looked annoyed with himself.

He looked as though he wanted to slap himself.

Why did I say that?!

"This is Secret Number One! Don’t ask any more questions!"

he shouted.

But Harry’s voice was even louder.

"Snape wants to steal whatever is being guarded, and you’re only worried about keeping it a secret!"

Ron immediately chimed in.

"That’s right!"

Their voices were mixed with Vesey’s indignant protest.

"Professor Snape doesn’t steal things! What would he even want?"

Hermione also couldn’t believe Snape would steal anything.

After all, Snape was the Potions Master. The potions he brewed were highly sought after by countless people. Why would someone like him need to steal anything?

Besides, the diary had said that Vesey would eventually bury Snape beside her parents’ graves. That seemed to indicate that they had a very close relationship.

How could someone like that possibly be interested in stealing something?

But Harry and Ron remained convinced.

Hagrid angrily said, "You two, listen to Vesey. She’s right. How could Professor Snape possibly steal something?"

Ron immediately shot back, "Then why did he curse Harry?"

Vesey seized the opportunity.

"That must be impossible! You’re mistaken. Professor Snape definitely didn’t want to hurt my brother.

"Whatever my brother knows, I know too.

"That day, my brother was outside Professor Snape’s office, and I was right beside the professor. I knew about his injury, so if Professor Snape had wanted to silence me, he could have done so!"

"Maybe Snape likes you..."

Ron said uncertainly.

Vesey looked even more upset.

"Why do you think that if Professor Snape had really reached the point of wanting to kill my brother, he would still spare me just because he supposedly likes me?"

Harry and Ron fell silent.

Of course, what they really suspected was that Snape wanted to kill Harry, and Vesey would die along with him.

Everyone knew how much Vesey cared about Harry.

If Harry were killed, Vesey would probably lose the will to live as well.

Perhaps that was exactly what Snape was counting on, which was why he didn’t need to attack Vesey directly.

But they thought that "truth" was far too cruel.

They didn’t dare tell Vesey.

Seeing Harry and the others fall silent, Hagrid thought they had finally realized they were wrong. He breathed a sigh of relief.

"See? You have nothing to say now, do you?

"Although I don’t know why Harry’s broom started behaving like that, I know very well that it had nothing to do with Snape.

"And there’s something else I need to tell you. Don’t ask any more questions about Fluffy or what’s behind the trapdoor. That’s Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel’s—"

Harry and the others suddenly burst out laughing.

"So there really is someone named Nicolas Flamel!"

Hagrid immediately slapped himself hard.

He really did have a terrible habit of talking too much.

---

Christmas was approaching.

One day in mid-December, Vesey woke from her sleep and discovered that the entire castle was covered in thick snow.

The surface of the lake had frozen solid, layer upon layer of ice covering the water.

As soon as Vesey stepped outside the castle, she saw the Weasley twins chasing Quirrell around with snowballs and pelting him in the back of the head.

Several snowballs struck Quirrell one after another.

Vesey stared in stunned silence.

They’re practically dancing on the tip of Voldemort’s wand.

"Oh, who’s this?"

"The little princess, Vesey!"

The moment the twins spotted Vesey, they excitedly gathered around her.

Originally, Vesey hadn’t wanted to interfere with them tormenting Voldemort.

After all, they were at Hogwarts. There was no way anything truly serious could happen to them.

But now, Vesey had decided to take charge.

Little princess?

Who taught you to call me that?!

I told you not to keep bringing up my gender!

She immediately frowned and said disapprovingly,

"Fred, George, how could you two attack someone with snowballs? And he’s our professor! He’s worked so hard to teach us!"

Fred and George weren’t angry when Vesey began lecturing them from the moral high ground.

After all, everyone at Hogwarts knew that Vesey was such a well-behaved girl. She hated seeing people treat others badly.

Besides, Vesey was easy to placate. As long as they apologized sincerely and promised not to do it again, everything would be fine.

Unfortunately, they were a step too slow.

Professor McGonagall appeared.

She had heard exactly what Vesey was saying to them.

Fred and George were still looking rather unconcerned, but Professor McGonagall was furious.

"What exactly do you two think you’re doing? Hmm? Attacking a professor? Do you intend to pelt me with snowballs next?"

she demanded.

For the first time, McGonagall wondered why Gryffindor students couldn’t be more like Slytherins.

Especially when she compared the obedient Vesey with these two boys who had dared to attack a professor.

It would have been strange if Professor McGonagall weren’t angry.

"Fifty points from Gryffindor!"

Fred and George froze.

"Professor!"

"You can’t!"

Professor McGonagall was still furious.

"Not only will I deduct points, but the two of you will also report to Mr. Filch for detention. You attack professors, bully your classmates, and behave as though the rules don’t apply to you. The two of you are completely out of control!"

she scolded.

Vesey felt delighted.

How dare you call me little princess?

Brothers, remember this lesson. Next time you reincarnate, sew your mouths shut!
