Chapter 71 — A Lesson for Vesey

Cassandra caught Vesey in her arms.

Vesey immediately collapsed against her, almost burying herself in Cassandra’s chest.

Good grief. Cassandra may still be young, but she’s already grown quite tall.

"Brother, brother..."

Vesey cried out miserably, secretly enjoying Cassandra’s embrace and almost reluctant to pull away.

Unfortunately, she could feel countless eyes on her.

She had clearly attracted everyone’s attention. It would be unrealistic to keep lying there.

So, after staying in Cassandra’s arms for a moment, Vesey finally summoned up the determination to push her away and ran toward the pitch.

Cassandra quickly grabbed her again.

"Don’t move! Don’t run! Your brother has already caught the Snitch!"

Cassandra said worriedly.

Vesey froze and stared at her blankly.

"Really?"

She sounded as though she couldn’t quite believe it.

Seeing that Vesey didn’t even dare turn around to look at Harry, Cassandra knew just how frightened she was.

She was afraid of seeing Harry lying on the ground, badly injured.

Cassandra sighed and couldn’t help saying, "Turn around and look at him. He’s perfectly fine. Besides, even if he did fall, do you really think he’d fall to his death here?"

Vesey pursed her lips and said in a trembling voice, "It’s very possible. I saw it in the book..."

Cassandra shook her head helplessly.

She turned Vesey around and made her look toward Harry.

Harry had already fallen back to the ground. He was covering his mouth as though he was about to be sick.

"See? He’s fine—"

Before Cassandra could finish, Vesey suddenly jumped from the stands.

Her heart nearly stopped.

Fortunately, Vesey landed safely.

At that moment, Harry finally spat out the Golden Snitch.

He raised it triumphantly, then immediately met Vesey’s worried gaze.

Harry threw the Snitch to Wood and ran over to hug Vesey.

"Vesey, we won!"

he shouted happily.

Only then did he realize that hardly anyone around him looked happy.

Even Wood looked gloomy, as though he had just done something terrible.

"You have no idea, Vesey—"

Hermione rushed over and started shouting, but Vesey quickly covered her mouth.

"Okay, Hermione. Please, stop!"

Hermione looked at her disapprovingly.

Vesey had jumped from such a height. Who did she think she could hide that from?

Somehow, though, they managed to keep it hidden.

At least, they managed to keep it hidden until they reached Hagrid’s hut.

The moment they entered, Hagrid angrily said, "Vesey, do you know how dangerous that was? If Professor Snape and Dumbledore hadn’t used the Levitation Charm on you, you could have fallen to your death!"

Vesey rubbed her eyes.

She saw Harry standing there with his eyes wide open in shock, while Ron and Hermione explained what she had just done.

Vesey’s shoulders slumped.

Harry was completely stunned by what they told him.

He looked at Vesey in disbelief.

"Do you not care about your life? What if—"

Before he could finish, Vesey whispered,

"But if you, my brother, had fallen to your death, I wouldn’t want to live either. I don’t have our parents anymore. If my brother were gone too, I wouldn’t have any family left."

Everyone fell silent.

Harry turned his head and quickly wiped his eyes before forcing a smile.

"How could that happen? I knew that I wasn’t going to fall. Look, didn’t I catch the Snitch and hold on until the end?"

He even deliberately rolled up his sweater to show Vesey that he wasn’t injured.

Vesey immediately lowered her head.

"Oh, brother!"

What are men even looking at?

Harry suddenly burst out laughing.

He rubbed her hair and said with a smile, "It’s my fault. Our Vesey is still just a little girl!"

Hermione glared sternly at Harry.

She winked at him, silently telling him that he needed to teach Vesey a lesson.

Vesey had been far too reckless.

Hermione had nearly thought something terrible was going to happen to her.

Harry hesitated and looked at Hagrid and Ron. They seemed to agree that he should teach Vesey a lesson.

Harry scratched his head.

Teach Vesey a lesson...

Vesey had been lucky this time, but what about next time?

The moment he imagined something happening to Vesey, the anger that had just faded returned.

"Vesey!"

he shouted.

He decided that this time, he had to make Vesey understand that what she had done was wrong.

But the moment his voice rose, Hermione immediately stepped in front of Vesey.

Ron and Hagrid also looked at Harry disapprovingly.

"Why are you shouting so loudly? Don’t scare Vesey!"

"She’s still so young, and you have the nerve to frighten her?"

The two of them spoke one after another, leaving Harry so angry that he almost laughed.

So they’re the ones who wanted me to teach Vesey a lesson, and now they’re the ones protecting her?

Why were these people so shameless?

"Then how exactly am I supposed to teach Vesey a lesson?"

Harry threw the question back at Hermione and the others.

The room fell silent.

In the end, Hagrid changed the subject.

"Er—Harry, what happened to your broom? I heard something like this happened to you before?"

Hagrid asked.

At the same time, he calmly poured Vesey a cup of milk tea and placed it in front of her.

Harry and the others rolled their eyes.

They remembered that Hagrid had been the first person to get angry with Vesey.

Yet it hadn’t taken long for him to defect.

But no one really wanted to be angry with Vesey, especially when they saw her sitting obediently on the chair, happily sipping her milk tea with narrowed eyes.

I really want to ruffle that soft red hair.

"I don’t know. It suddenly started shaking. The same thing happened last time."

Harry spoke casually, his eyes falling on Vesey.

His silly little sister was just too lovable.

"It was Snape. Hermione and I both saw it, right, Hermione?"

Ron suddenly spoke up.

He glanced at Hermione.

Hermione sighed and nodded.

"I did see him staring at Harry’s broom. Then I went over... Well, anyway, I interrupted him, and Harry’s broom stopped shaking."

Hermione glanced at Vesey guiltily.

She wasn’t exactly comfortable admitting that she had set Snape’s robes on fire.

After all, she had discovered during this period that Snape was actually very good to Vesey, and Vesey admired Snape greatly.

The two of them practically behaved like father and daughter.

The diary had even mentioned that Snape gave Vesey an artifact.

Snape really was a good person to Vesey.

If Hermione told Vesey that she had set Snape’s robes on fire, Vesey would probably be angry with her.

She didn’t want to upset Vesey.

"Nonsense! How could Professor Snape curse Harry?"

Hagrid asked loudly.

Hermione sighed again.

Seeing Vesey frown and look at them as though the idea were impossible, she said helplessly,

"Professor Snape does like Vesey, but he hates Harry.

"And this is a match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. He obviously wants Slytherin to win, so I don’t think it’s impossible."
