Chapter 91 — Professor, Listen to Me

Something really had happened.

Ron grinned bitterly.

"Yeah, my hand hurts, but that’s not the important part. The important thing is that Malfoy came just now.

"He told Madam Pomfrey that he was here to lend me a book, then came over and mocked me. He also said he was going to report to Madam Pomfrey that I’d been bitten by a dragon.

"Then he took one of my books with him.

"It took me a while to realize that Charlie’s reply was inside that book. Malfoy will probably figure out that we’re planning to send Norbert away on Saturday night!"

Ron said miserably.

Harry and the others were stunned.

At that moment, Madam Pomfrey came back in.

She told them not to stay too long and asked them to let Ron get some proper rest.

Vesey walked out with Harry and Hermione.

"What should we do? Should I ask him to bring the book back?"

she asked, pretending to be worried.

Harry and Hermione immediately shook their heads.

"No. If you ask for it now, he’ll definitely suspect that there’s something important inside. Maybe he didn’t notice the letter before, but now he’ll definitely look for it."

Hermione was visibly nervous.

Harry was sweating as well.

He gritted his teeth and said, "We can’t change the plan for Saturday. Malfoy will probably report us that night. If we send Norbert away before he can do anything, everything will be fine.

"And besides, have you forgotten? We have the Invisibility Cloak. As long as we wear it, nobody will be able to find us!"

It seemed there was no other choice.

They went to Hagrid’s hut to tell him about the plan, but Hagrid wouldn’t let them inside because Norbert was throwing a tantrum.

"He wants to be free, and this place is getting too small for him."

Hagrid said tearfully.

That might also have had something to do with the fact that Norbert had just bitten him on the leg.

"It’s all right, Vesey. Don’t worry. Norbert only bit my boot... Ow! It’s fine, he’s just playing! After all, he’s only a furry little baby!"

Hagrid hurriedly reassured Vesey.

The "furry little baby" in question was currently beating its tail against the window, almost smashing the window of Hagrid’s wooden hut.

Vesey and the others could only tell Hagrid what they had planned before leaving.

Hagrid was heartbroken at the thought of sending Norbert away on Saturday.

Every night, he hugged Norbert and cried.

Harry and the others thought they should probably look sad too, like Hagrid and Vesey.

But they couldn’t feel sad at all.

In fact, they were already imagining how peaceful their lives would be once Norbert was gone, which made them want to laugh.

Saturday arrived.

It was a dark, moonless night.

By the time Harry and the others reached Hagrid’s hut, it was already rather late.

Peeves had been running around hitting the walls with his tennis racket, so they had to wait until he finally left before they could sneak out of the castle.

They had already agreed on the plan.

Harry and Ron would take Norbert to the Astronomy Tower, while Vesey would keep watch below.

If a professor appeared, she would scream and run away.

Vesey had no objections.

In fact, she could probably run faster than any of them.

However, she hesitated.

She felt that it might actually be better if Professor McGonagall caught all of them together this time.

After all, Vesey had accumulated quite a lot of Energy Points recently.

Although she worked hard every day to earn more, she could usually only gain one or two hundred points at most.

So she had finally managed to save up a decent amount.

It would be a waste not to take advantage of this opportunity to harvest some more.

With something this exciting happening, she didn’t believe she couldn’t earn another two hundred Energy Points.

A smile appeared on Vesey’s face.

She had been spending Energy Points far too extravagantly lately.

The system could directly provide her with movies and television shows from her previous life.

Sometimes, when she became too absorbed in a show, she even had the system complete her homework for her.

Then there were all those books.

They were books she pretended to read, but to keep everyone from thinking she was merely flipping through them casually, she actually studied them as well.

Naturally, her Energy Points were disappearing like water.

Vesey would never miss an opportunity to earn more now.

After waiting beneath the Astronomy Tower for a while, Vesey finally heard Harry and Ron approaching.

The two boys were wearing the Invisibility Cloak, and Norbert had been placed inside a large box.

They had even put the stuffed toy Hagrid had given Norbert inside with him.

But as Vesey got closer, she heard a tearing sound.

Apparently, Norbert had already ripped the head off the stuffed toy.

Harry and Ron warned Vesey several more times that if anything happened, she had to scream and run as fast as possible.

They saw no difficulty in it.

Vesey didn’t think it was difficult either.

She could, however, make it difficult.

So after Harry and Ron left, Vesey sat down beside a statue and waited.

She didn’t have to wait long.

Soon, two figures appeared.

It was Professor McGonagall and Malfoy.

Professor McGonagall was holding Malfoy by the ear.

"Detention! A Slytherin student sneaking out of bed in the middle of the night! Twenty points from Slytherin. I have to tell you..."

Malfoy struggled.

"Oh, you don’t understand, Professor! Harry Potter is here! They’re carrying a dragon! They—"

It was at that moment that Vesey stood up.

She suddenly screamed.

Professor McGonagall and Malfoy both turned toward her.

Vesey didn’t run.

Instead, she looked at Professor McGonagall with an expression of guilt.

"Professor, I’m sorry. You’d better punish me!"

[Ding! Energy Points +3.]

[Ding! Energy Points +5.]

Professor McGonagall stared at her in disbelief.

"Vesey, why are you here?"

Malfoy was equally shocked.

"What are you doing here? Where’s Harry Potter? How could he let you stay here?"

Vesey immediately turned pale.

She pretended to stammer.

"No, you... don’t say things like that... My brother, my brother didn’t tell me to stay here..."

Professor McGonagall didn’t even need to think to know that Vesey was lying.

They had been together for almost a year.

How could Professor McGonagall not understand Vesey by now?

This child was so kind and honest that she could barely even tell a convincing lie.

Therefore, Harry must have tricked her into coming here.

Professor McGonagall was furious.

Of course, her anger was directed at Harry.

"I have never seen a student like him. How dare he deceive his own sister? He doesn’t care at all about how vulnerable she is!"

Professor McGonagall clenched her fists.

Apparently, if Harry had been standing in front of her at that moment, she would have given him a very severe scolding.

Then her gaze fell back on Vesey.

Her eyes were filled with sympathy and affection.

"Good girl. Come with me. We’ll go to my office and have something warm to drink."

She gently took Vesey’s hand and said disapprovingly,

"Look at these little hands. They’re freezing! Poor child. How could you have a brother who treats you like this? And he’s supposed to be a Gryffindor!"

Of course, Vesey had to defend Harry.

She pretended to struggle to find the right words.

"No, Professor McGonagall, you’ve misunderstood my brother. My brother didn’t deliberately leave me here. He... he has his reasons. He’s a very good person. It’s me. I didn’t do well enough. I’m... I’m too stupid."
