"Not at all?"

Mr. Voray asked again, almost unable to believe it.

Cassandra weakly shook her head.

"He's always hanging around that Gryffindor know-it-all. What am I supposed to do? It's not as if I can just grab him and drag him over here, is it?"

She complained angrily.

Mr. Voray looked even more bewildered.

"You haven't done anything?"

Wasn't this girl usually full of schemes?

"But whenever I see him, I just can't bring myself to do anything..."

Cassandra felt terribly aggrieved.

"It's over, then. You're completely done for!"

Mr. Voray shook his head bitterly. His daughter had fallen this hard for a boy. How could he possibly stop her?

"What if your mother and I don't agree?"

Mr. Voray sat opposite Cassandra and asked solemnly.

Cassandra pursed her lips.

She didn't know.

Perhaps she couldn't even bring herself to think about it. After all, that stupid guy barely ever spared her a proper glance.

"So..."

Mr. Voray stood up.

He was ready to end this pointless conversation.

Cassandra grew a little nervous.

Had Dad decided that she was too hopeless and wouldn't allow her to be with that guy?

Would he even transfer her to another school?

Would she never get to see him again?

Fortunately, he didn't seem to be planning to go that far.

Instead, he paused and said, "Then you'll have to work on it yourself! Once you've managed to win him over, come and tell your mother and me."

"It's not as though you've given us anything concrete to work with so far. Your mother and I have been asking around everywhere about whether there's a new version of the love potion and whether its effects can last for a month or two!"

Mr. Voray left indignantly.

Cassandra finally smiled.

Yes, she really would have to work hard.

Before long, it was time for the new school year to begin.

Cassandra and Pansy sat together on the train.

Pansy listened to Cassandra recount her conversation with her father, looking thoroughly entertained, before bursting out laughing.

"That's so like you! If my dad found out, he'd definitely tell me to get lost. And you're already telling your parents before anything has even happened!"

"Hmph! Mind your own business! Just tell me which compartment that stupid guy is in. I'll go and drag him over here..."

Cassandra said irritably.

Pansy winked at her, then asked with a mischievous grin, "Are you planning to call him over on the pretext that Slytherins should stick together?"

Cassandra was so embarrassed she could hardly speak.

What did any of this have to do with her?

"You've only just managed to get your family to agree, and you're already planning to be so blatant about it. Be careful that Dumbledore doesn't find out you're pursuing his precious Saviour's brother. Goodness..."

"He might already know. The last time I followed Professor McGonagall to the Hospital Wing, she spotted me."

"Does Professor McGonagall finding out count as Dumbledore finding out?"

"Well, it seems Dumbledore isn't planning to stop you. But your plan to call him over here is doomed to fail."

"Don't look at me like that! I'm not going to stop you. After all, I want to spend more time with him, too."

"It's just that you really can't do it this time. He didn't get on the train."

"I overheard that Gryffindor know-it-all telling the others that neither Harry Potter nor Ron Weasley had boarded the train."

"They might have..."

"Huh? Is that Harry Potter? Did they come in a car?"

Pansy excitedly pointed toward the car sparkling in the sky.

Cassandra frowned.

That car didn't look particularly safe, did it?

Still, it probably wouldn't matter. That guy was pretty powerful.

Even if the car crashed, he would probably find a way to survive.

It wasn't until they arrived at school that Cassandra learned the stupid guy hadn't come with Harry Potter in the car. He had been brought in by the Aurors instead.

This left her rather puzzled.

But she was relieved all the same.

Then she began hoping that the car would crash and send Harry Potter straight to the Hospital Wing.

That way, no one would be around to drag the stupid guy away from her all day.

However...

"Miss Cassandra, do you know where my brother is? If you tell me, I'll do anything!"

For the second time, that stupid guy was begging her for Harry Potter's sake.

Cassandra was upset.

She had done so much for that stupid guy. Why wouldn't he look at her a little more?

Angry, she refused to tell him.

And then...

His magic went out of control.

Cassandra watched as blood poured from him and that terrifying power erupted around him.

She was horrified.

How could this happen?

Was he going to die because of Harry Potter?

Fortunately, the Head of House seemed to say something to him. Gradually, he managed to draw his power back under control.

But he still sat pitifully on the ground, begging everyone to save his brother.

He was completely crazy!

Harry Potter had merely fallen from the sky, and he hadn't even looked half as miserable as this guy!

She thought irritably.

Fortunately, she saw the stupid guy again the following day.

Idiot.

The moment he saw Harry Potter, he went running off to Gryffindor again.

Why hadn't the Sorting Hat put him in Gryffindor from the very beginning?

What a nuisance!

Cassandra thought impatiently, yet she couldn't help paying attention to him.

He behaved himself during lessons, then hurried off to Gryffindor the moment class ended.

His schedule was packed.

There was time for everyone except her...

Until one particular day.

The Slytherin Quidditch team returned from outside.

They looked dejected, and some of them were angrily complaining to one another.

"I told you! You should've just mentioned those few people. Why did you have to bring Darren Potter into it?"

Malfoy's unpleasant voice reached Cassandra's ears.

Cassandra raised her eyebrows.

Had these people provoked the stupid guy?

How had they managed to avoid getting beaten up?

Pansy curiously asked what had happened, and soon they heard the whole story.

"Flint said Potter was a disgrace to Slytherin."

"And he called that Gryffindor know-it-all a Mudblood."

"Yeah! In the end, Darren Potter pointed his wand at us, and we had to apologize."

One after another, they recounted what had happened, speaking with great indignation.

They seemed completely oblivious to the sudden silence that had fallen over the common room.

Hmph!

They could insult Miss Know-It-All all they wanted, but why drag that stupid guy into it?

Besides, that stupid guy wasn't a disgrace to Slytherin at all.

The improved antidote he had developed was already a tremendous contribution to their House.

Cassandra felt annoyed.

She looked at Flint and cast a Jinx of Bad Luck on him. That could count as a little punishment for him.

He had been talking nonsense and damaging Slytherin's reputation!

That's right. She was doing it for Slytherin's reputation.

It absolutely had nothing to do with wanting to stand up for that stupid guy.

He hardly ever returned to the Slytherin common room anymore, so what right did she have to be angry with him?

She didn't care about him!
