I AM BARBARIAN
Chapter 7: First Level Up
Chapter 7: Chapter 7: First Level Up
When I thought of this plan, selective amnesia must have happened in my mind. Because how could I have forgotten this part.
Victor stared at the opened mouth of the Basalt Dragonic Lizard as it enclosed around him.
BAM—shut close.
Popo, Kiki, Boramo and the rest of the audience stared—wide eyed—frozen. And for a moment, no one made a sound.
Then the crowd erupted. It was a mix of cheer, wailing, and sheer shock.
Boramo laughed heartily, beating his thigh. The Shaman beside him was no different.
"Zaza, it would seem that your balls also spat stupidity." Boramo added.
Popo could not take the shock, dropping to his knees. "Brother, Milkshake22!!!"
Even Kiki was surprised. ’Although an unworthy death. The ancestors would still accept his soul.’
After after consuming Victor, the Basalt Dragonic Lizard turned towards the remaining Babarians.
Of all the many that began this battle, only about 20 remained.
Many had died. But there was something significant about Victor’s death that drained the morale from those remaining.
If even the blood of the old king could not bring down such a beast, then who were they kidding?
Babarians were not cowards by nature. But all morale had been lost. Even Popo was too mentally devastated to be of use.
Kiki looked to her betrothed. "Useless." She exclaimed, stepping forward, broad sword at the ready. If she was going to die here, then it was going to be a good death.
The shadow of the beast stood tall over them—all three red inverted eyes ready to devour. One could almost see a smirk at one side of the beast’s mouth.
And then it happened.
The Basalt Dragonic lizard paused. Then it fell on the ground, thumbling.
It SHRIEKED in pain.
Some babarians were unfortunately too close, and got smacked.
"Stay away from it!" Kiki yelled, pulling the distracted Popo by his hair.
She flung him to safety, diving after him.
Boramo raised a brow. "What’s wrong with it? Is that another unique skill?"
"Urh..." the shaman was similarly confused.
But just as it rolled around, it suddenly stopped.
The arena went quiet. People asked questions.
"What’s happening?"
"Is it going to kill them?"
"Why is it lying on its back?"
And then its inverted eyes gave one final glow before the middle one popped out.
The ruby rolled off its face and down the ground.
Everyone knew what this meant.
[Congratulations, you have defeated the Basalt Dragonic Lizard]
The Basalt Dragonic Lizard was dead. But how did it happen? Till now, all damage dealt to the beast was futile. So how did it die?
Curiosity pulled Popo and Kiki towards it.
Then it’s jaw moved. They leaped back.
Then came the groaning of a man.
"Fuck! Fuck!! Fuck!!! This is so disgusting. It was never this bad through the screen. Like what the hell, man?"
Through the gap of the destroyed teeth Kiki created, Victor staggered out.
He was a mess—entire body stained with an awful mix of saliva, mucus and blood.
But it was still him.
Boramo could no longer stay seated.
The Shaman dropped his staff.
Kiki and all the other babarians stared astonished.
The crowd was left stunned silent once again.
Then Popo screamed. "YEAH!!!"
His cheer was the catalyst that erupted the crowd.
Popo rushed up the body of the beast to embrace his brother in a huge hug—no care for his current state—lifting him into the air like he weighed nothing.
He laughed heartily.
"Stay away from me, I am covered in disgusting mucus." Victor tried to push back. But Popo did not care, and so did the other barbarians that hurried over.
"Brother Milkshake22, how did you do it?" A random barbarian asked.
For a moment, everyone paused the celebrating to hear him speak.
"Well, it was kind of easy. The Basalt Dragonic Lizard has a body that is literally made of impenetrable rocks from a volcano. All I did was make a bold guess. Just because it’s made of stone on the outside, doesn’t mean that its also made of stone on the inside—"
"And so your brilliant solution was to get swallowed by the beast." Kiki interrupted.
The gathered babarians made way for her to pass through. Kiki had that much respect amongst them.
She stopped before Victor, expecting a reply.
"Erm... well, it was worth the shot if we are going to all die in the first place."
Her gaze was stern, and then she burst into a chuckle. The other babarians joined in.
Of course, there is another reason I was willing to take on such a very stupid task despite its obvious risk.
I could not let go of that one item. An item that only appears when the Basalt Dragonic Lizard had been forced into its attack pattern on purpose.

Other system alerts came up, but Victor was too engaged to view them.
Boramo’s thick fingers, squeezed the guard rails to dust.
He turned sharply to the shaman, "I thought you said that it could not be defeated?"
"Huh... well, my king... Urh... I was sure that."
"Enough."
The Shaman shut his mouth.
Popo swaggered forward with his battle axe in hand, "BORAMO!!!" He called loudly, stealing the attention of the entire arena.
"I, Popo, first son of late King Zaza the bountiful, have fulfilled the challenge requirement for the throne—my father’s throne. As it is tradition, we shall battle during the next Solstice.
Do you honor our fathers and our father’s fathers. Do you honor our tradition and accept my challenge?"
The Babarians had their eyes shift from between Popo to Boramo.
Everyone was eager for the result of such a challenge.
Having taken the challenge condition with his followers and conquering the Basalt Dragonic Lizard, Popo now had the right to challenge Boramo for the position of king of the Babarian tribes.
But would he respect this tradition was the question on everyone’s mind.
Boramo gave a smirk...
