Chapter 208: Ch 208- Frostwind Base
Within five minutes, Mo Yuan arrived at the Beast Association building. He immediately took the elevator to Bai Chuan’s floor, where he saw the familiar secretary sitting outside the office.
"Good morning, sir," she greeted him politely.
Mo Yuan nodded and walked into the office.
As usual, Bai Chuan was sitting behind his desk. However, compared to yesterday, the piles of documents around him seemed to have increased even more.
Seeing Mo Yuan enter, Bai Chuan put down the document in his hand and smiled.
"You’re here. I was waiting for you."
Mo Yuan sat down across from him.
"Yes, Senior. I came here as soon as I finished my training."
Bai Chuan nodded. He then took an envelope out of his storage space and handed it to Mo Yuan.
"Keep this with you. Show it to the guards at the entrance of Frostwind Base and they’ll allow you to enter after verifying it."
Mo Yuan accepted the envelope and put it away.
"Also, the leader of the Beast Association in Frostwind Base is named Louis. I’ve already sent him a message about your visit. Once you arrive at the Beast Association, you can meet him directly. He’ll know you’re coming and will arrange for you to see the beasts."
"Thank you, Senior."
Bai Chuan waved his hand before taking out a map. He spread it across the table and pointed toward a location.
"Frostwind Base is approximately three thousand kilometres from here. You’ll need to cross this Tier 3 base first, then travel through this region before reaching your destination."
He carefully explained the route, pointing out the major bases and the areas Mo Yuan would need to pass through.
Mo Yuan studied the map briefly before nodding.
’Three thousand kilometres, huh? If I travel through the Shadow Realm, I won’t even need a second to reach it.’
Of course, he didn’t say that aloud. Instead, he listened patiently until Bai Chuan finished explaining everything.
"Do you have any other questions?" Bai Chuan asked.
"No, Senior. You’ve already explained everything clearly."
"Good. Then you can leave whenever you’re ready."
Mo Yuan stood up and cupped his hands.
"Thank you for your help, Senior. I’ll take my leave now."
"Go, go. I still have plenty of work to finish."
Mo Yuan smiled and walked out of the office.
Bai Chuan watched his departing figure for a moment. Just as Mo Yuan was about to disappear from sight, a strange feeling suddenly crossed Bai Chuan’s heart.
’What was that?’
He frowned slightly.
’Why did I feel a sense of danger from him?’
Bai Chuan was a Sovereign Realm cultivator, while Mo Yuan was only at the Late Origin Lord Realm. Even if Mo Yuan was an extraordinary genius, the difference between their realms was still enormous.
’Perhaps I’m just tired from dealing with these documents.’
After thinking for a moment, Bai Chuan shook his head and returned to his work.
Meanwhile, Mo Yuan had already left the Beast Association building.
’I’ve got everything I need. There’s no reason to waste time here.’
He planned to return to Cang Lan Base as soon as he had finished observing the beasts and if possible, copying their talents. There was no need to stay in Frostwind Base longer than necessary.
With that in mind, he headed toward the main gate.
After reaching the entrance, he showed his identification card to the guards and walked out of Cang Lan Base.
Once he was far enough from the base, Mo Yuan activated his Shadow Walk and entered the Shadow Realm.
The familiar darkness surrounded him. In this place, his Shadowspawn abilities could be used more freely and the Shadow Realm’s blessing would further increase his strength and speed.
Mo Yuan took a deep breath before activating his talents.
Ultimate Speed!
Phantom Walk!
Shadow Walk!
Shadow Blessing!
His Primordial Qi surged through his body and his figure instantly shot forward.
He jumped high into the air and accelerated toward Frostwind Base.
The world outside seemed to slow down as he moved at an incredible speed. Even though he was travelling through the Shadow Realm, he could still observe the real world around him.
A few moments later, he spotted Frostwind Base in the distance.
However, he was moving too fast.
By the time his mind registered the sight, his body had already passed the base by a considerable distance.
Mo Yuan continued flying forward for a short while before finally slowing down and landing on the ground.
He looked back in the direction he had come from and couldn’t help but sigh.
"Ah, having too much speed is a problem too."
If anyone else heard him saying such words, they would probably want to beat him up.
Most cultivators spent their entire lives searching for ways to increase their speed, yet this fellow was complaining because he had travelled too fast!
Mo Yuan shook his head and jumped into the air again.
This time, he didn’t activate all his talents at full strength. He carefully controlled his speed, making sure he wouldn’t overshoot his destination again.
After travelling for a few more seconds, Frostwind Base finally appeared before him.
Mo Yuan slowed down and landed outside the wilderness surrounding the base. He then left the Shadow Realm and looked toward the enormous structure in front of him.
Frostwind Base was just as impressive as Cang Lan Base. Massive walls surrounded the city, while a protective formation covered the entire base. From a distance, the faint glow of the formation could be seen spreading across the sky like an enormous shield.
’As expected of a Tier 2 base. It has the same kind of protective formation as Cang Lan Base.’
He looked at the towering walls with interest.
’I wonder what the formation around a Tier 1 base looks like and what about the Holy Base?’
He could not help feeling curious. The higher he climbed in the cultivation world, the more he realized how much he still had to learn.
After admiring the base for a moment, Mo Yuan headed toward the main entrance.
As he approached the gate, he noticed something different from what he was used to seeing in Cang Lan Base.
The people standing in line came from many different countries and backgrounds. Their hair colours, facial features and appearances varied greatly.
Mo Yuan looked around with interest.
’So this is what a more international base looks like.’
A thousand years had passed since the arrival of the beasts and the rise of cultivation. The old countries had gradually disappeared and humanity had reorganized itself around its bases. People from different regions now lived and worked together, especially in the larger bases.
Mo Yuan suddenly wondered whether everyone here spoke English.
However, he wasn’t particularly worried. In his previous life, English had been his first language, so communicating with foreigners wouldn’t be a problem for him.
Soon, it was his turn at the entrance.
The guard looked at him politely and said in English, "Please show me your identification card."
’Oh, English. Just as I expected.’
Mo Yuan nodded and handed over his identification card along with the envelope Bai Chuan had given him.
The guard examined the documents before asking him to wait.
A few minutes later, another guard returned and handed everything back.
"Welcome to Frostwind Base, sir. Your entry has been approved."
"Thank you."
Mo Yuan accepted his documents and walked through the massive gates.
