I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1891 - 1021: Center of the Orophin Floating City_2
Chapter 1891: Chapter 1021: Center of the Orophin Floating City_2
The forces permeating the Orophin Floating City are not singular, but are violently intermingled from multiple fragmented divine powers with chaotic and unruly magic.
These divine power auras are fractured and broken, and the primary one carries a magic aura.
This is likely the power left behind by the Magic Net Goddess, Mistra.
In addition to this, there are several divine powers that Lis does not recognize.
However, one of the divine powers makes Lis feel puzzled, the cold and eerie sensation giving Lis a sense of familiarity.
These divine powers haven’t fully merged, seeming to be forcibly bound, occupying every corner of the floating city.
Furious, restless, cold, and mingled with a trace of madness and greed emanating from the soul level.
This is Lis’s most direct feeling about this power.
He can clearly sense that if an ordinary legendary strongman or even a demigod were to rashly enter this place, it wouldn’t take long for their internal magic power and origin would be assimilated and torn apart by this chaotic power, ultimately becoming nourishment for this barren land.
Lis restrained his outward perception, calming the subtle movements in his heart.
With his current strength, merely this mixed chaotic power still cannot pose a substantial threat to him.
However, this also proves that the dangers within the Orophin Floating City are not so simple.
Once he confirmed that there were no hidden dangers around him and no targeted attacks, he no longer stayed in place.
Lis walked steadily, slowly advancing toward the deepest center of the floating city.
There is where his target lies for this journey.
The road ahead is a winding and broken street, with collapsed high walls on either side blocking most of the sight, and shattered magic reliefs and abandoned magic instruments scattered everywhere.
As Lis continued deeper, the chaotic aura in the surrounding air grew more intense, and the dangerous, bone-chilling sense of oppression kept rising.
A heavy weight pressed upon his heart, as if countless heavy objects were hanging above his head.
But more eerily, throughout the journey, not a single substantial attack descended upon Lis.
This is different from what he imagined: no sneak attacks from strange monsters, no ancient magic traps triggered, no rampaging divine power torrents; the whole floating city maintained its dead silent state.
Yet it’s precisely this baseless calmness that pushes the oppressive atmosphere to the peak, as if an invisible mental shackle is firmly binding the intruder’s spirit.
As Lis crossed three layers of broken floating platforms, gradually nearing the core area of the floating city, the space around him began to exhibit visible anomalies.
Faint black cracks appeared out of thin air with no order, then quietly vanished in mere seconds, like eyes opening and closing in the depths of darkness.
These space rifts varied in width, the thinnest no thicker than a strand of hair, the widest enough to swallow several human bodies.
Deep within the space rifts surges void-like darkness, that’s the influence of divine power, capable of easily slicing through flesh; even a legend would be torn into pieces instantly if caught within.
If it were someone else, they’d be walking on thin ice in such an environment, barely moving forward, and might instinctively use their own power to forcibly smooth out the surrounding space cracks, thereby creating a safe passage.
Though Lis’s mastery over space power far exceeds ordinary people, he also understands the peril of space rifts under divine power’s influence.
With a slight movement of his divine thought, he could precisely capture the trajectory of each space rift’s wave and expansion pattern.
Lis’s steps were calm and undisturbed, cleverly circumventing all danger zones, never releasing a shred of excess power to interfere with the surrounding environment.
In such a bizarre place where everything is in an imbalanced state, any active external disturbance might ignite the fuse of the entire floating city and awaken the unknown horror lurking deep within.
Cautious hibernation is far more prudent than rash action.
The closer he got to the center, the more outrageous the surrounding phenomena became, seemingly overturning the world’s laws entirely.
The originally orderly floating buildings twisted and deformed, with walls in illogical bending states, some floors inverted and floating in mid-air.
Broken metal beams, shattered stone debris, and scrapped magic puppet components all freed from gravity’s restraints, suspended chaotically in the air, motionless, as if frozen in time in an abandoned junkyard.
When Lis crossed the mist and completely stepped into the core region, his pupils subtly contracted, and for the first time in his heart, a sense of clear astonishment arose.
According to what he’d previously understood, the core of the Orophin Floating City should harbor a Magic Core Tower like other floating cities.
That’s the magic nexus of the entire floating city, its most important core.
But before Lis’s eyes, the Magic Core Tower that should be there had utterly vanished, as if it had never existed.
Instead, there was a pitch-black abyss extending deep into the earth beneath the floating city, boundaries unseen.
The opening of the abyss was perfectly round and well-defined, the inner walls dark and profound, where currents of divine power and magic mingled as one.
Surrounding the abyss’s area, debris of various sizes floated around layer by layer in a giant, lifeless ring of ruins.
Dim mists shrouded the abyss’s opening, blocking any divine detection; nobody knows what terrifying things are buried at the bottom.
As Lis was contemplating whether or not to enter and explore the hidden secrets, a cold, piercing sense of being watched suddenly crawled up his spine without warning.
The feeling was extraordinarily bizarre, unlike overt hostility locks, more like some unknown existence hidden in dark crevices, indifferently scrutinizing the intruder into its territory.
This sense of watching was omnipresent, defying origin identification.
It seemed to envelop Lis entirely, reaching deep into his soul.
Instantly, the magic power around Lis surged, his muscles tensed, warily scanning the entire core area.
He had quietly gathered his strength, ready to confront a sudden assault at any moment.
But no matter how he searched, he could not pinpoint the specific location of the watcher.
The opponent released no killing intent, showed no aura, nor produced any energy fluctuations, seemingly a void shadow rooted in the darkness of the floating city’s center.
Lis furrowed his brow, his gaze locking onto the central pitch-black abyss, already forming a judgment in his heart.
Is this sense of danger emanating from the abyss in front of him?
Could the entity that gives him this feeling of danger be a presence of divine rank?
But the Magic Net Goddess, Mistra, has already fallen, is it some monster formed from her remaining power?
Lis frowned, watching the abyss in front of him vigilantly.
Has it remained silent because the adversary can’t leave this abyss?
Is it due to an external seal?
But previously Holmes didn’t mention anything like this.
However, Holmes did say that he seldom observed the floating city, and was unaware of any changes within.
Since he arrived here, there’s no point in waiting endlessly.
Lis had prepared extensively for this exploration, feeling relatively confident.
Moments later, Lis decided to approach the abyss and summon an avatar with the Mirror Body skill to go in and see what the situation is.
Cold, damp, black mist lingered around the abyss, with foul chill surging continuously from the abyss’s depths.
Lis restrained his breath and focused, his steps slowing as he approached the edge of the abyss.
He constantly remained on guard against unknown dangers lurking in the abyss’s depths.
Just as he was about to reach the edge of the abyss, a graceful silhouette suddenly emerged from the thick darkness deep within.
It was a woman of incomparable beauty, her features flawless, her skin glistening white as jade, with an inherent unaffectedly clear posture.
A holy halo surrounded her, her natural aura of sacred purity strikingly incongruous with the eerie world, producing an extremely strong contrast.
A robe, woven from the four elemental colors of Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind, draped over her, the colors blended yet without chaos, the light faintly shimmering, every swirling pattern displaying divine-like greatness.
Lis’s pupils contracted slightly, instinctively halting his stance to gaze toward her.
The woman lifted her eyes to him, her clear and profound gaze resembling the night sky’s stars, seemingly harboring supreme wisdom that comprehends all worldly secrets.
Just one look, and Lis’s heart bred a sense of minuscule exposure.
Something’s not right!
Lis hurriedly retreated several steps.
