Calen stared at her for a second before a chuckle escaped his lips. "Oh..." His eyes curved with amusement. "My wife has learned how to be naughty."

Roxanna raised an eyebrow. "Naughty?"

"Yes." Calen moved a little closer to her, the smile on his face growing wider. "Who taught you to deceive others like this?"

Roxanna tried to look innocent. "Deceive? What are you talking about? Zeir told us to rest, and that’s exactly what we’re doing."

Calen laughed again. "But you just said we should pretend to be asleep."

"That’s different."

"How?"

Roxanna opened her mouth, but no answer came out.

Calen’s smile immediately turned smug.

Seeing his expression, Roxanna reached over and lightly pinched his cheek. "Why are you asking so many questions? I just told you that you could have me all to yourself for the rest of the day."

Those words immediately shut him up and his tail began wagging behind him again.

Roxanna laughed. "See? Now you’re happy."

"I was already happy!"

Calen then scooched closer to Roxanna until there was barely any space left between them. Without saying anything, he wrapped both arms around her waist and pulled her against his chest.

Roxanna naturally slipped her arms around him in return. Since they were already lying face-to-face, the position made it easy for her to bury herself in his embrace.

Calen immediately looked satisfied, and his tail continued wagging behind him.

"You really wanted this much attention?" Roxanna asked with a laugh.

"Yes," Calen answered without even trying to deny it. He tightened his arms around her and rested his forehead against hers. "I’ve wanted to hug you like this for a long time."

Roxanna blinked. "A long time?"

"Since we were at the ocean," Calen admitted. "I kept wanting to hug you and kiss you like this, but there were always other people around."

Roxanna could not help but smile. They had spent so much time traveling across the sea, but privacy had been almost impossible to find.

Even when they were together, Zeir and Azul were usually nearby, along with the other people traveling with them.

"It’s not like you couldn’t kiss or hug me in front of the others," Roxanna said. "No one would have minded."

Calen pouted a little and leaned forward to kiss her cheek several more times. "It’s different."

"How is it different?" Roxanna asked, laughing when another kiss landed near the corner of her lips.

"Because when the others are there, they always want your attention too," Calen complained. "If I hug you, someone else comes over. If I kiss you, someone else suddenly wants to kiss you too."

Roxanna blinked before bursting into laughter. Now that he mentioned it, that had happened more than once.

Calen clearly did not find it as funny as she did. He tightened his arms around her waist and pulled her even closer. "See? You’re laughing, but I’m serious."

"I know, I know." Roxanna tried to stop laughing as she gently rubbed his back. "So what you really wanted was to have me all to yourself."

"Yes," he answered in hesitation.

Calen lowered his head and kissed her again, this time directly on the lips. It was a slow and gentle kiss, and when he pulled away, he stayed close enough that Roxanna could still feel his warm breath against her face.

"I wanted to do this without anyone interrupting us," he murmured, and then kissed her again.

Roxanna happily returned the kiss, wrapping one arm around his neck while her other hand moved into his hair. Calen immediately relaxed against her touch, but his arms remained firmly around her waist as though he had no intention of letting her go anytime soon.

When their lips finally parted, Roxanna smiled. "Satisfied now?"

Calen shook his head. "No?"

"No." He kissed her forehead. "I’ve been waiting since we were at sea. A few kisses aren’t enough."

Roxanna laughed. "Then how many do you need?"

Calen seemed to seriously consider her question for a moment. "A lot."

Roxanna frowned. "That’s not a number."

"I don’t know the number yet," Calen replied. "I’ll tell you when I’ve had enough."

Before Roxanna could respond, he kissed her cheek again, then the other one, before placing another kiss on the tip of her nose.

Roxanna could only laugh and hide her face against his chest. "You’re going to cover my entire face with kisses at this rate."

"That’s fine."

"It’s fine for you."

Calen smiled until two small fangs in the corner of his lips were visible. "It should be fine for you too. You said you’re mine for the rest of the day."

Roxanna lifted her head and looked at him. "You’re really going to use my own words against me?"

Calen smiled brightly. "Yes."

His ears were standing proudly again, and his tail had not stopped wagging for even a second.

Roxanna stared at him for a moment before reaching up and pulling him down for another kiss herself.

Calen froze in surprise for barely a second before eagerly kissing her back. When Roxanna finally pulled away, the pout that had been on his face earlier was completely gone.

"There," she said with a satisfied smile. "That one was from me."

Calen stared at her with bright eyes, then his arms tightened around her again. "Wife."

Roxanna answered, "What?"

"Do it again," Calen said.

Roxanna immediately laughed. "You’re getting greedy."

"I waited a long time," Calen reminded her shamelessly. "I’m allowed to be greedy today."

To be honest, Roxanna did not understand why Calen was acting as if she never let him kiss or hug her whenever the others were around. She had never even stopped him from doing either of those things.

Still, since he wanted her attention so badly today, Roxanna decided to give him exactly what he wanted.

Before Calen could figure out what she was planning, Roxanna suddenly pushed him onto his back. She moved with him, rolling across the soft animal pelts until their positions completely changed.

Now, Roxanna was lying on top of him.

Calen blinked up at her in surprise, but his expression quickly changed when he saw the teasing smile on her face. His ears immediately perked up, and his tail began moving excitedly beneath them.

Roxanna placed her hands on his chest and leaned closer. "Then I hope I can satisfy my greedy dog today," she teased.
