Chapter 184: Putting an End to Certain People’s Notions

Although Evelyn Grant was suspicious, she didn’t let her brother notice.

She just asked nonchalantly, “So, the school didn’t say anything else?”

“Nope! They just called me into the dean’s office alone. They said my grades are excellent and that I’m the school’s great hope, so they’ve decided to give me special support.”

‘Only Alex would believe that.’

‘If they really wanted to focus on his development, they would have stepped in long ago. How could they wait until right before exams to offer him extra teachers, and just for him?’

“Oh. So, have there been any big events at your school recently?”

“A big event?” Alex thought for a moment. “The school announced it’s going to be expanded. Does that count?”

“An expansion. That must be because someone made a donation.”

Alex nodded. “Yeah, but that’s just what I’ve heard. I don’t know the specifics! In any case, I’m about to graduate, so I won’t be around to see it whether the school expands or not.”

Evelyn Grant smiled. “True enough.”

‘She was now almost certain that someone had made a donation to her brother’s school.’

‘But Evelyn didn’t know if it was Julian Sterling who had intervened, or Ryan Sterling.’

‘Then again, it probably wasn’t Ryan Sterling.’

‘Since he’d agreed to the divorce, it was unlikely he’d go to any trouble for her now.’

When Julian Sterling found out indirectly that Evelyn Grant was in the hospital, he immediately wanted to go see her.

But when he reached the hospital entrance, he didn’t go in.

‘At a time like this, she… probably doesn’t want to see me.’

‘He didn’t regret what he’d done about the child. He knew full well what the consequences would be. But, at the end of the day, it had still harmed Evelyn Grant’s body.’

‘Still, Julian Sterling was worried about her.’

Sitting in his car, he called a doctor he knew.

“I need you to go to Valeridge Hospital right now and personally attend to a patient named Evelyn Grant. You must take meticulous care of her. I want absolutely nothing to go wrong.”

“Of course, Mr. Sterling.”

After hanging up, Julian Sterling thought for a moment, then sent the doctor a text message.

“Take a few photos of her for me on the sly. I want to see her current condition.”

‘He could never have let her keep that child.’

‘Of that, he was certain.’

‘But that didn’t mean he wasn’t concerned about her health!’

‘Besides, this was a one-time thing. He would never let Evelyn Grant get pregnant with another man’s child again.’

‘Julian Sterling already had it all planned out. Once they remarried, he would discuss having a child with Evelyn Grant.’

‘Not only would this solidify their relationship, but it would also completely crush certain people’s hopes!’

‘It was the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone; naturally, he had to do it.’

‘Besides, he knew Evelyn Grant’s temperament. Once they had a child, she would stop thinking about other things. He figured her life would then revolve around their child and him!’

‘That was absolutely what Julian Sterling wanted.’

Now, he had everything planned out. The only step left was getting remarried.

‘He hoped it wouldn’t take too long.’

Frowning, Julian Sterling thought for a moment. Still not feeling at ease, he went ahead and called his mother.

“Mom, Evelyn Grant is in the hospital. If you have time, could you go to the hospital and see her?”

“What? What happened to Eve?”

“…She collapsed from exhaustion. She wasn’t resting properly.”

‘It wasn’t convenient for Julian Sterling to go right now, but his mother could go!’

‘The two of them had always gotten along well as mother-in-law and daughter-in-law; their relationship used to be excellent! So it would be perfectly natural for his mother to pay a visit.’

‘Even if Ryan Sterling found out, he wouldn’t be able to object.’
