I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant

Chapter 185: He Desperately Wants to Go

“Sigh, that’s just like Eve! Whatever she does, she has to be so serious and meticulous. Working for someone else, and she still manages to work herself sick.” As soon as Florence Morgan spoke, her rich-wife mentality was clear.

She had never worked, so naturally, she didn’t know how much effort a job required. If you didn’t work hard, you’d be eaten alive by the competition.

Of course, Florence Morgan also didn’t know that the law firm was connected to her younger son.

She didn’t know, but Julian Sterling did!

Therefore, he naturally guessed that this was because Evelyn Grant wanted to completely sever ties with Ryan Sterling. That’s why she was so fanatically determined to finish her work quickly, just so she could be free of any connection to him as soon as possible.

This was fantastic news for Julian Sterling. He was absolutely thrilled.

“Hasn’t she always been like this, ever since we were kids?”

“You’re right, she has.” Florence Morgan agreed. “Alright then, I’ll go see her! Are you coming with me? You can visit her while she’s sick and see if you can reconnect. Maybe since Eve is so weak right now, your visit will move her!”

Julian Sterling sounded helpless. “Mom, I’d better not go. It’s not a good time for me to show up. When the time is right, I swear I’ll be by her side every single day.”

“…Are you afraid Eve is still angry with you?”

“Do you think she could forgive me this quickly?”

‘Besides, I just orchestrated her miscarriage. There’s no way I can show my face right now.’

Even though he desperately wanted to go.

He wanted to stay by Evelyn Grant’s side and make up for all the years of love he had failed to give her.

“That’s true. Sigh, you two have had such a rocky relationship. I just hope there aren’t any more twists and turns for you in the future. Your father and I, we really can’t take any more shocks.”

Julian Sterling wanted to say something, but in the end, he swallowed his words.

‘I regret it now. I’m determined never to let Evelyn Grant down again, but for now…’

‘There’s no point in saying any of this.’

‘It’ll only be meaningful once Evelyn Grant and I have mended our relationship.’

…

Alex Grant was true to his word.

He called one of his teachers, who took photos of the practice problems he needed and sent them over.

There wasn’t a proper desk in the hospital room, so Alex Grant sat by the bed, hunched over some paper he’d gotten from the nurses’ station, and started working on the problems.

“Alex, your back is going to hurt if you do your work like that! Why don’t you just go home? I’m really fine!”

“No! I said I’m not leaving, and I mean it.” Alex Grant looked up from the sea of practice problems and gave her a smile. “Sis, do you remember when I was little? I’d always camp out in your room just like this and refuse to leave. Back when Dad was still alive, he was always telling me to get out so I wouldn’t bother you while you were studying!”

Thinking of the time when both of their parents were still alive, a smile naturally spread across Evelyn Grant’s face.

“You’re right! You were so mischievous back then. You even said you wanted to try my practice problems! I can’t believe that in the blink of an eye, you’re about to take your college entrance exams.”

“If Dad were still alive, he’d be doing the exact same thing I am—staying here at the hospital with you, refusing to go home!” Alex Grant lifted his chin defiantly. “So I’m not leaving either.”

In truth, if Mr. Grant hadn’t passed away, many things would be different now.

Perhaps the gap between the Grant family and the Sterling family wouldn’t be so wide.
