I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 218: Thank You for Still Being Willing to Help Me
Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Thank You for Still Being Willing to Help Me
At the mention of his older brother and Evelyn Grant, Ryan Sterling’s handsome face darkened slightly.
He was clearly unwilling to talk about them.
Florence Morgan was a perceptive woman. After testing the waters with that remark, she quickly dropped the subject.
"Ryan, thank goodness you’re here with us! Otherwise, I really don’t know what I’d do right now. It’s just not manageable without anyone around."
"Don’t worry. You and Dad raised me, so no matter what, I will take care of you when you’re sick."
Ryan Sterling could never abandon his parents and do nothing to help.
They were his parents, after all.
Even if he was angry about them favoring his older brother, he couldn’t let that get in the way of his filial duty.
Suddenly!
The doors to the emergency room finally opened.
A doctor in a white coat walked out.
He took off his mask, his expression grave.
"The patient’s condition is not optimistic. I recommend you arrange for a transfer. Contact another hospital with better medical equipment as soon as you can."
"..."
Upon hearing this, Florence Morgan looked as if she was about to faint.
Ryan Sterling quickly reached out to steady her. "Mom!"
"I... I’m fine..." She grabbed her son’s arm, her eyes red as she spoke. "Ryan, you have to save your father! We can’t count on your brother at a time like this. You’re the only one we have!"
"Mm, don’t worry. I won’t let anything happen to Dad."
With that assurance, Florence Morgan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
...
Soon, Ryan Sterling was on the phone, contacting other hospitals.
Florence Morgan made an excuse about needing to rest, then found a corner and called Julian Sterling on his private number.
"Julian, everything’s pretty much set on my end. Ryan is still contacting doctors and will probably hear back soon. The rest is up to you."
"Mm, I understand, Mom. Thank you for still being willing to help me."
The thought of Ryan Sterling about to leave the country—and that no one would be left to stop him from doing whatever he wanted to Evelyn Grant—put Julian Sterling in an excellent mood.
He had practically raised this younger brother of his since they were children. He knew his temperament and personality inside and out.
If he tried to confront him head-on, he wouldn’t gain any advantage. In fact, losing would be a foregone conclusion.
But if you used a soft approach... well, Ryan Sterling’s heart was softer than anyone’s.
That was his weakness.
Florence Morgan sighed. "Oh, Julian, this is really the last time I’m helping you. If it doesn’t work out this time, you have to promise me you’ll give up on Evelyn Grant! Okay? Our family can’t take any more of this turmoil."
"Mom..." Julian Sterling didn’t dare make that promise, so he said nothing.
"Look, even your father is helping you this time! You know what he’s like, don’t you? When has he ever willingly gotten involved in anything? It’s only because I’m in such a difficult position, caught in the middle. Your father feels sorry for me and doesn’t want me to have to be the bad guy every time, so he’s finally stepping in to help!"
But who would ever willingly do such a thing?
If it weren’t for their son, if it weren’t for the guilt they felt for wronging their eldest during his childhood, neither of them would have waded into these muddy waters.
"Mom, I’ll never forget your and Dad’s kindness! Don’t worry, after Evelyn Grant and I remarry, I absolutely won’t cause any more trouble for you to worry about!"
"Sigh... As for whether you two can remarry, I really can’t say for sure. I can only hope you get the outcome you’re looking for."
