I Can Control Resources
Chapter 674: Exposed: Wormhole Shuttle
Gao Neng wanted to give Fang Tangtang a little “shove,” but she was obviously too worked up. Forgetting herself, she held on incredibly tight.
Left with no choice, Gao Neng could only glance over at Shen Ning’Er.
In Shen Ning’Er’s eyes…
He didn’t see the green-eyed monster. Instead, her eyes were filled with joy, relief, and that innate look of expectation a woman has for her man.
‘Right, this is just a friendly hug!’ With his heart at ease, Gao Neng quickly scrambled up from the ground and pointed at the Sword Elder’s body.
“The Sword Elder! I got him back!”
“…”
“How did you get back?! You brat, I clearly saw you in front of the Royal Tent in the Beast Race Camp just a moment ago! And you even blocked a strike from the Beast Race Sword Saint! How did you… get back here?!” Li Tiannan, after a moment of shock, immediately bellowed.
‘Uh? So I got found out after all?’ Gao Neng had thought that bringing up the recovery of the Sword Elder’s body would get Li Tiannan to drop the questions for a while, but clearly, he’d been too optimistic.
‘Li Tiannan isn’t an idiot!’
“You can travel freely through space?” Shen Changsheng’s question sounded far more rational and professional than Li Tiannan’s.
“Yeah, the legendary Flying Thunder God…” Gao Neng gave a wry smile.
“???” Shen Changsheng.
“It’s what Commander Shen called Space Travel.” Gao Neng wanted to brush it off, but there was no way to talk his way out of something he’d been caught doing red-handed.
Of course, there was another reason…
‘I’m admitting it!’
‘So what are you going to do about it?’
‘I’m this powerful now. You’re not seriously thinking of slicing me up for research, are you?’
‘Get real!’
‘I’m a supreme commander of the Alliance Military Department, for crying out loud!’
“Are there any limitations?” Shen Changsheng’s eyes lit up as he asked again.
“Well…” Gao Neng didn’t answer immediately.
“I understand. If it’s difficult to explain, just tell us what you can. After all, this ability… is frankly… terrifying.” Shen Changsheng chose his words carefully, finally settling on “terrifying” to describe Space Travel.
In reality, was “terrifying” even a strong enough word?
“You’re not injured?” Li Tiannan, having come to his senses, scanned Gao Neng from head to toe.
He truly couldn’t find a single wound.
‘This is just ridiculous!’
‘This is the guy who blocked a strike from the Beast Race Sword Saint.’
‘And he’s not even injured?!’
“Nope.” Gao Neng shook his head.
He really wasn’t injured.
So, he was simply telling the truth.
“…” Li Tiannan.
‘Can’t you just not be so damn honest?!’
‘At a time like this, you could at least tell a white lie! Something like, “You might think I’m fine, but I’m actually injured. It’s not a surface wound, it’s internal… an internal injury…”‘
“I’m really not injured, look…” Thinking Li Tiannan didn’t believe him, Gao Neng spun around. “This blood on me is all from the Beast Race. My clothes… right, you can tell just by looking at my clothes! Are they ripped anywhere? Not even a hem is torn. How could I be injured?”
“…” Li Tiannan.
“…” Shen Changsheng.
‘This kid… he’s not doing this on purpose, is he?’
‘Is he?!’
“We should tell everyone the news at once!” Shen Ning’Er spoke up. She didn’t ask Gao Neng a single question.
Because she knew he would tell her everything in his own time.
“Yes… that’s right! We should tell everyone immediately! Let them know that we’ve recovered the Sword Elder’s body!” Shen Changsheng nodded at once.
“Not ‘we.’ ‘Gao Neng’!” Shen Ning’Er said again.
“Right, it was Gao Neng. Gao Neng alone broke into the Beast Race Camp and recovered the Sword Elder’s body. Gao Neng… no, Councillor Gao. On behalf of the Alliance Military Department, I thank you!” Hearing this, Shen Changsheng naturally understood the meaning behind Shen Ning’Er’s words.
The current Alliance wasn’t nearly as united as one might imagine.
The Sword Elder’s death, in particular, had exposed too many problems.
To pull the “chaotic” Alliance back together, they needed a focal point—or rather, a hero, an icon.
“Elder Jian… you’re finally back. If you were alive… alive to see that brat’s magnificent display just now, I bet you would’ve been overjoyed…” At this, Li Tiannan knelt on one knee and lifted the Sword Elder’s body in his arms.
“The Alliance flag!” Shen Changsheng looked toward the flags hanging on the fortress walls, then pointed to the one at the very top. “Use that one.”
“Yes, sir!”
A soldier immediately moved to carry out the order.
The Alliance flag was lowered and then draped over the Sword Elder’s body.
Gao Neng hadn’t managed to see the Sword Elder one last time before he died, nor had he heard his final words, but he knew this old man had dedicated his entire life to the Alliance.
The Alliance needed him to be a “hero.”
But in truth, the real hero was right there before them.
“Gao Neng, after the mess you made in the Beast Race Camp, they’ll definitely retreat right away, won’t they?” Fang Tangtang asked, waiting until after the Sword Elder’s body had been carried down from the walls.
“No, they won’t retreat.” Gao Neng shook his head.
“They won’t retreat?! Didn’t you burn all their provisions?” Fang Tangtang didn’t quite understand, because she had actually seen it all quite clearly.
Gao Neng hadn’t just been killing Beast Race generals; he had also burned a huge portion of their provisions in the rear camp to the ground.
“Tangtang, Gao Neng is right. The Beast Race won’t retreat. Not only will they not retreat, they’ll immediately launch a frenzied siege!” said Shen Ning’Er.
“A siege?”
“Yes. They’re going to fight us to the death,” Shen Ning’Er nodded.
“Then we’ll just have to kill them all!” Fang Tangtang clenched her little fists upon hearing this.
“Gao Neng, do you have a plan?” Li Tiannan and Shen Changsheng walked over together. After all, they too could predict how the battle would unfold.
After the rampage Gao Neng went on in the Beast Race Camp, they definitely wouldn’t just let the matter drop.
If their predictions were correct, then in three days at the latest—or as early as tomorrow morning—the Beast Race, the Celestial Race, and all the other races in the Eastern District would launch a simultaneous attack on the Eastern District’s fortresses.
This would be a brutal, decisive battle.
Gao Neng could rely on his Space Travel to assassinate Beast Race generals in their camp, but in a defensive siege, the situation would be completely different.
“Have you made the arrangements for what I had Ning’Er tell you about?” Gao Neng didn’t answer Li Tiannan and Shen Changsheng’s question, instead asking one of his own.
“Yes, we’re on it. The list you provided involves many geniuses from the Dragon List. Even as the acting commander-in-chief, I still need to communicate with their families. After all…”
“Issue a direct order. Have them assemble in the Eastern District immediately.” Gao Neng naturally understood Shen Changsheng’s hesitation, but sometimes, too much deliberation just creates more obstacles.
“Understood!” Shen Changsheng paused briefly, then nodded at once. “Have the communications officer issue the order: Everyone on the list is to report to the Eastern District Fortress immediately!”
“Yes, sir!”
The orderly immediately withdrew.
“Master, Commander Shen, that other matter… did Ning’Er tell you about it?” Gao Neng asked again after the orderly had left.
“And what matter would that be?” Li Tiannan narrowed his eyes.
Shen Changsheng had also picked up on the implication in Gao Neng’s words, but the idea was simply too shocking.
‘It can’t be, can it?!’
‘Could what Shen Ning’Er said earlier actually be true?!’
“The twenty-five races on the Northern District Battlefield are under my control. Didn’t Ning’Er tell you?” Gao Neng glanced at Shen Ning’Er, then back at Li Tiannan and Shen Changsheng.
“…” Li Tiannan.
“…” Shen Changsheng.
‘She did!’
‘But we didn’t believe her!’
