I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 477: This Is an Overlord
The Unborn Saint did not move anymore.
Its six-meter body was buried inside a deep crater, and Orion’s foot was placed right in the center of its chest.
The five complete branches of the bone-like halo were buried in the ice, the huge black eye on its mouthless face was still open, but even it no longer dared to move.
Lian stood a few dozen meters away..what caught his attention the most was the way this Overlord acted, he had heard that he had one of the most chill personalities among all the Overlords.
But now he understood that even the news and rumors had greatly underestimated how chill he was.
Mountainbreaker looked at the creature under his foot for a few seconds without saying anything, then he slightly reduced the pressure of his foot.
At that moment....crack...the sound of moving bones came.
Young Vorhelm narrowed his eyes slightly and the Saint’s chest, which had been completely crushed under Orion’s pressure, started to change.
It was not only healing, the bones slowly separated from each other and their angles changed.
Some became thicker, while others created a new layer around themselves, and even now its body was still finding a way to adapt.
Orion raised an eyebrow.
"Interesting." He said as he increased the weight of his foot on the Saint’s chest again.
"The more I crush it, the more its body looks for a new way to avoid being crushed next time."
Crack!
The bones that were changing broke again.
"That’s exactly why I stopped trying to kill it with force after a certain point." Lian said calmly.
Orion gave him a short look, there was no exaggerated praise or surprise in his eyes, only a calm sense of approval.
"You made the right choice." He looked at the creature under his foot again.
"Killing something that learns from every time you kill it is a very good way to create an even bigger problem."
He studied the creature for a few more moments, then reached into his storage space and when he pulled his hand out, a small object was between his fingers.
A black hexagonal prism, almost the size of his palm.
There were no clear marks on its surface, but even Lian could feel the strange amount of space compressed around it just by looking at it.
Orion dropped the prism onto the ice.
Tap.
The object landed right beside the Saint...then it opened, six thin black plates separated from the main body and floated into six different directions around the Saint.
One above.
One below.
The other four around it.
The space between the plates suddenly became dark, and the Saint’s black eye changed slightly, as if it had noticed something, and the bone-like halo behind its head moved.
Gravity pressure burst out from its body and the ground around the crater started to crack.
It was as if it had finally understood what fear was, and its instincts were telling it that it should not let itself get trapped inside that hexagonal prism.
"I said calm down." But the Overlord only pressed his foot harder against its chest.
Boom!
The entire body of the Calamity Seed sank a few more centimeters into the ice, the gravity pressure collapsed at the same moment and the six black plates lit up at the same time.
Then something strange happened, the space between them seemed to fold.
Lian could not fully follow it with his eyes, the Unborn Saint was still the same size but at the same time the distance between it and him was becoming larger.
One meter.
Ten meters.
One hundred meters.
One thousand meters.
Without actually becoming smaller, it was as if an endless distance was forming between it and this world.
The black eye could still be seen, the halo was still struggling, but it was getting farther away every second and then everything disappeared.
The six black plates returned toward the center, came together and in less than two seconds became the same small prism that Orion had taken out of his clothes.
The man bent down and picked it up.
His eyes stayed on the prism in Orion’s hand, it was not hard to guess that it was probably some kind of dimensional prison.
It was not a bad idea either.
At least until they found a way to truly destroy the Saint, keeping it somewhere where it could not grow made more sense than trying to kill it.
Of course, he knew that Mountainbreaker and the Federation’s main goal was to research that thing.
But now there was one more person left.
Lian slowly turned his head toward Ezrak, the white-eyed man understood at the same moment and calmly took two steps back.
"Oh..."
Orion put his other hand inside his clothes, and another black prism came out.
"I don’t think you’ll need that for me." Ezrak gave a small smile.
But Mountainbreaker did not even answer him and only turned the prism between two fingers.
Lian was looking at the man, but his mind was focused on that bell, this crazy man had been in danger all this time and still had not used it.
The same bell that had brought them directly from the base under the mountain to Antarctica.
And that was exactly what made something click in his mind, from the moment they arrived in Antarctica, Ezrak had many chances to escape.
When he was killing the womb, when the Saint woke up earlier than expected, when the creature attacked him and when the Overlord arrived.
Even a few moments ago, when Mountainbreaker had put all his attention on the Saint.
But he had only used the bell once, the very first time.
So that thing was not unlimited, maybe it had a recovery time, maybe using it required certain conditions.
Maybe each use consumed part of his soul or his own power.
Whatever the reason was, Ezrak could not simply disappear whenever he wanted.
Orion seemed to be prepared for that as well.
"I saw the recording of your escape from the base, so I’m not going to make the same mistake they did this time."
The prism slipped from his hand.
Tap.
The six plates opened.
The white-eyed man did not wait this time.
Two small objects came out from under his clothes, one looked like a piece of dried meat. The other was a thin bone covered with green mana lines.
But before he could activate either of them, Orion looked at him.
Just a look.
A huge pressure like an invisible mountain fell on Ezrak’s body.
Boom!
Both his knees hit the ice, the objects fell from his hands and his white eyes opened wider for a moment.
"That’s really unfair."
"Life isn’t fair."
"That was such a cliché answer."
"Shut up, or instead of sending you to prison, I’ll send you directly to the rest of your destroyed civilization."
"I understand...."
The black plates lit up, the space folded again and this time Ezrak did not resist much.
But before the distance between himself and the world became larger, he looked at Lian, a very small smile appeared on his face.
A calm and strange smile, as if it was saying something without words ...we’ll meet again.
Young Vorhelm showed no reaction, but strangely, deep inside, he agreed with it.
A few seconds later, the crazy scientist also disappeared, the prism closed and Orion picked it up and put it inside his clothes.
For a moment, silence covered the icy plain.
Two major problems had been contained, at least for now, and then he turned his eyes toward the mountain.
Lian also looked in the same direction without thinking, a large part of the cave entrance had collapsed and the dead flesh of the womb was stuck to the walls like dried skin.
But something was strange, parts of the cave were simply missing, as if they had been eaten.
The Overlord looked at it for a few seconds, as if he was thinking how it was possible for part of a cave to have been eaten..?
Lian remembered at the same moment, the Devourer Egg.
He naturally had not forgotten it during the entire fight with the Saint, he simply did not have the chance to deal with it.
The last time, he had left it inside the cave to consume the huge body of the womb, now that everything was over, he had to take it back.
Vorhelm focused for a moment, but there was no sign of the egg, and he did not know if that was a good thing or not, because if Mountainbreaker saw the egg, he would definitely take it as well.
And just as he expected, Orion entered the destroyed cave to investigate and he also followed him.
A few minutes later, they returned to the center of the former laboratory, or what was left of it.
A large part of the womb had completely dried up, the empty biological tubes and the huge masses of flesh that the Devourer Egg had reached had almost become dry shells.
But the egg itself was gone and there was still no sign of it.
The Overlord stopped at the exact place where Lian had left it and bent down, touching some of the dried flesh with two fingers.
"Something was here."
He only nodded.
"Looks like it."
"Whatever it was, it looks like it ate quite a lot too." Orion looked around.
