I Can Level Up Infinitely
Chapter 336: Ninth Layer
More monsters rushed toward Leon. These monsters were more intelligent than all the monsters Emily and the others had faced till now in this dungeon. They were rushing at Leon for two purposes.
One, Leon’s presence gave off a dread-like feeling. He was just sitting in a lotus position. No fight, no killing. Yet for some reason, they all felt like the moment he would open his eyes, something terrible would happen.
Two, not only that, but everyone seemed protective of Leon. The moment a monster got close to Leon, someone from the group would react for sure. That meant that, until Leon opened his eyes, he was their weak point.
But how could they reach Leon while Lamia was present?
Five more monsters were rushing at Leon. Their claws gleamed under the poor light. A streak of green trailed behind them. Lamia noticed it instantly. Her brows furrowed. She waved her hand. A strong gust of wind swept by. The moment it struck the five lizards, they froze instantly. Even the sweat drops about to roll down from their forehead froze. Lamia waved her hand in reverse.
Whooosh!
Whooosh!
Whooosh!
Air condensed, icy daggers materializing in the thin air before her. And then...
They shot forward...
Booooom!
Booooom!
Booooom!
....
All five frozen monsters exploded. A huge shockwave erupted outward. The wave was about to strike Leon, but Lamia swept her arm. An ice barrier erupted from the ground and protected Leon from the incoming shockwave.
Snow, who was busy fighting a monster along with Sol and Emily, was stunned to see this. "Seriously?????" She was both shocked and depressed. Shocked that someone could kill five semi Disaster Class monsters with such ease. Depressed because the gap between her and Lamia was immeasurable.
While she was busy cursing in her mind, five claws whistled through the air.
"Watch out," Emily shouted and slashed her sword.
Just before the claws could strike, Emily’s sword clashed against them.
Clangggg!
Emily was pushed back by more than twenty meters. The monster stood where it was, but using that little span of time, Snow leaped back, distancing herself from the monster.
"You wanna die?" Emily snapped at Snow. "Watch your steps if you don’t want to end up as a corpse." Saying that, Emily joined Sol again. Lamia alone had slaughtered more than twenty monsters by now. Where they were struggling to defeat even just one monster.
Snow looked at Lamia once before joining them. The number of monsters was slowly decreasing. Lamia had no problem dealing with them. But Leon didn’t show any sign of waking up any sooner.
His consciousness was having a separate battle. After what felt like an eternity, Leon finally stepped into the Ninth layer of the Astral River. The moment he did...
Booooooom!
An invisible force struck him, almost throwing him out of the ninth layer. But Leon gritted his teeth and forced himself into the ninth layer. This time, the pressure was at least twenty times more than the first time he had appeared in the ninth layer. Leon slowly continued to adapt to the pressure. Seconds passed. Then minutes.
A thin layer of blood gushed out from Leon’s nostrils.
Leon’s consciousness was in great pain at the moment. He felt like his body cells were being crushed under immense pressure. He could lose consciousness at any moment. But he continued to force himself to adapt.
Slowly, the pressure continued to decrease. Or maybe Leon was slowly growing. After almost two hours, Leon opened his eyes. "Finally. He sat down. He immediately sat down into a lotus position.
[Congratulations, host.]
A notification popped up before Leon’s real body. But he had no means to hear or see it.
[You have established a connection with the ninth layer of the Astral River for a second ability.]
[Second Ability: Fire affinity.]
As Leon’s consciousness focused, astral energy started flowing into Leon’s body from the ninth layer of the Astral River.
A brilliant beam of light descended from the sky and landed on Leon’s real body.
This time, none of Emily, Snow, or Sol could comprehend what was going on. They could see the beam of light. It was mesmerizing and domineering at the same time. The more they saw, the more they wanted it.
A crimson dot materialized behind Leon. It was hovering in the air. More precisely, all the light from the beam was actually being channeled into this. As time passed, the dot grew bigger and bigger.
Lamia had already defeated all the monsters. Or she had killed and destroyed them all. Even the one fighting Emily and others was gone.
Lamia looked at Leon. "Master is almost there." She whispered. A smile spread across her face.
But just then...
Rumble!
Rumble!
Rumble!
The ground shook as more monsters appeared. There were only seven monsters this time.
But...
Each one was emanating an absurd amount of aura. Just their presence alone was enough to make others cower.
"Disaster Class lizard men." Emily whispered. "They all are boss level monsters. So they are finally here." She then looked at Leon.
Leon still sat there, his eyes closed. The beam of brilliant light was still showering over him.
The dot had grown into a huge ball by now. The upper side of the ball had swelled up. It was as if something was trying to crawl out from inside.
The group of monsters walked forward.
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
Their footsteps left behind heavy dent marks. Lamia stood before Leon like a shield. There was still no fear in her eyes.
The group of monsters stormed forward, ready to squash Lamia and the others. Lamia looked at Leon once more. "Master. You know I can’t use my full power here. So you better hurry up." She said and turned forward. Without any notice, his body blurred.
One of the monsters immediately sensed something. The lizard stopped in its tracks and threw a punch. The move was casual and rushed. Yet the air whistled dangerously.
Boooooooom!
The moment the monster’s fist connected to something, it exploded backward. But this time, Lamia was forced back more than ten meters as well.
