I Carry a Game World With Me

Chapter 129: Something’s Not Right

Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Something’s Not Right

Lu Feng was stunned as he watched the scene unfold abruptly.

After all, he had specifically looked up videos about the Hexagonal Beast and even watched the Origin Anime back in the real world.

’But what’s going on here? Isn’t this a scene straight out of the Origin Anime?’

The only difference was that it wasn’t raining; the sky was just incredibly overcast.

Not a single drop of rain.

’In other words, it’s just a coincidence. It’s not the same as the Origin Anime.’

’Maybe the words I intentionally let Guo Qi hear have started to take effect.’

But the moment that thought crossed his mind, the sky suddenly thundered, and then the rain began to pour down.

This...

’Next, people should be coming up in pursuit, right?’

Sure enough, the next moment, a flurry of footsteps echoed. Just like in the Origin Anime, a group of people gave chase.

’Next, Lin Nan should be pulling out his stun gun.’

And just as expected, Lin Nan pulled a gun from his back. Upon activation, blue sparks crackled to life around the stun gun.

He then fired a bolt of electricity from the gun.

Just like in the Origin Anime, the blast from the stun gun hit the ground instantly, and an arc of lightning shot across the floor toward the pursuers.

In an instant, the men fell to the ground, their bodies trembling and twitching uncontrollably.

Clearly, they weren’t dead, but they had been completely incapacitated.

Lin Nan let out a sigh of relief.

But just then, a sharp arrow shot out from the stairwell, striking a person beside Lin Nan and sending them flying.

The arrow was incredibly accurate, piercing the man’s heart and killing him instantly.

The color drained from Lin Nan’s face.

He recognized that arrow.

He immediately roared, "Guo Qi!"

The bald Guo Qi finally emerged from the stairwell. He aimed his longbow at Lin Nan, then began rapidly drawing the string, loosing a volley of sharp arrows at Lin Nan and his men.

Nearly every arrow found its mark. The bow was clearly special—incredibly powerful and frighteningly fast.

The arrows whistled through the air, giving Lin Nan’s men no chance to dodge.

Crucially, they were already injured from the explosion below; with their heads still ringing, their reactions were a beat too slow.

Guo Qi stepped fully onto the rooftop, a confident look on his face.

Before the apocalypse, he was a professional archer who had won championships in numerous major competitions.

If not for the apocalypse, he was confident he could have won gold at the Olympics.

But it was this same archery skill that allowed him to survive in the post-apocalyptic world.

Seeing Guo Qi appear, Lin Nan’s expression grew even uglier. "Guo Qi," he said, "I never thought you’d be the one behind this."

"Lin Nan, I’m tired of pretending to be your brother for so long. Let’s settle this today!" Guo Qi said, drawing his longbow and firing furiously at Lin Nan.

Arrow after arrow flew through the air.

Lin Nan’s face was grim. He had been a formidable fighter even before the apocalypse, and he’d enhanced his physical abilities by consuming special parts from Mutant Beasts.

But he struggled to dodge Guo Qi’s arrows. He was already injured, and after just a few evasive moves, the wound on his back tore open, staining his bandages with blood.

Guo Qi soon ran out of arrows. He tossed his longbow aside and charged madly at Lin Nan.

In an instant, the two were locked in a frenzied battle.

In terms of fighting technique, Lin Nan clearly had the upper hand.

But Guo Qi was stronger. Crucially, Lin Nan was injured, which limited his strength and power, and he slowly began to lose ground.

Lu Feng watched from the shadows, intending to intervene. ’If I help him now,’ he thought, ’I’ll definitely earn Lin Nan’s goodwill.’

’But on second thought...’ He held back.

’If I step in now, Lin Nan’s gratitude will be somewhat diminished. But if I wait until he’s on the brink of death—especially when he’s hanging from the wall—and then save him...’

’Then, he’ll surely be eternally grateful.’

’Recruiting him will be a piece of cake.’

So, Lu Feng was in no hurry. He let the two of them continue to fight.

’I just wonder if the scene from the Origin Anime, where Lin Nan gets hung from the wall, will still happen.’

Soon, events unfolded just as they had in the Origin Anime. Lin Nan was overwhelmed, and Guo Qi grabbed an iron chain, wrapping it around his neck and choking him until his face turned red and he passed out.

Then, Guo Qi flung Lin Nan against the outer wall, leaving him hanging there.

It happened just like in the Origin Anime. In the end, Lin Nan was left hanging from the wall.

Guo Qi headed for the stairwell, a broad smile on his face.

After all, by getting rid of Lin Nan, he could completely take over his position.

He and Teacher Hu could use the Hexagonal Beast to control the zombies and would soon sweep across all of Celestial Sea City.

Then, he would be one of the rulers of this city.

But there was one thing Lu Feng couldn’t understand.

’It’s not surprising for this to happen in the Origin Anime; it was created by the game designers, after all.’

’But this is a real game world now.’

’The crucial part is my involvement. Logically, the scene should have changed. Why is it still happening exactly like it did in the Origin Anime?’

’Did my participation and instigation lead to this outcome?’

’No, that’s not right either. I obviously didn’t participate in the events of the Origin Anime; I was just a player in the real world.’

Then, he remembered something. ’If this is exactly like the Origin Anime, then the zombies should be opening the main gate of Red Leaf Base right about now.’

And just then, Lu Feng saw the zombies becoming agitated and roaring madly.

A CREAKING sound rang out.

The base’s main gate was being opened.

Sure enough, a zombie was inside. And just like in the Origin Anime, a Hexagonal Beast stood behind it.

As expected, there was no control device installed on its head.

’In other words, this particular Hexagonal Beast might be one of the culprits behind the future fall of the City East Alliance.’

Seeing this, Lu Feng didn’t hesitate. He operated his Mecha, and a cannon barrel quickly emerged from its shoulder. Then, a laser beam, thicker than a standard one, began to form.

In the next instant, the laser beam shot out, passed straight through the gate of Red Leaf Base, struck the zombie that had opened it, and pierced through the Hexagonal Beast behind it.

At that moment, he saw Lin Nan, still hanging on the wall, waking up from asphyxiation. He was frantically pulling at the chain, struggling for his life. If he wasn’t rescued soon, he might lose his last chance of survival.

Lu Feng hurriedly controlled his Mecha. Activating his speed ability, he dashed forward, grabbed Lin Nan, and ran up the wall toward the rooftop.

This scene astounded the team of guards who had rushed over. They knew something major was happening at the base, and when they arrived to investigate, they were met with this incredible sight.

’He’s running straight up the wall?’

This was, of course, the effect of Lu Feng’s special speed ability, which allowed him to briefly run on walls by leveraging his momentum.

Lu Feng carried Lin Nan back onto the rooftop.

But suddenly, his brow furrowed. "Something’s not right!"
