Chapter 996: Chapter 356: Ancient Ruins

After the resurrection of Spiritual Energy.

The old world collapsed, and a new world was born.

Using the calendar written by City of Dawn, the largest power on the continent of the new world, the first year after the birth of the new world is recorded as Spiritual Mist Year 1.

And now is Spiritual Mist Year 2.

City of Dawn officially announced to the outside world that it would accept a large number of survivors.

And released the selection mechanism, aiming to choose the best among the survivors to become members of the “Salvation Society.”

As soon as this news spread, numerous aspirants were stirred into action.

From the perspective of the human survivors’ landscape, it was no less than a large-scale migration route.

In the same year,

City of Dawn underwent a second expansion, building a new hall next to the original towering landmark stone tower.

Its name is Bright Hall.

The base color of Bright Hall is no different from the overall City of Dawn, primarily gray and blue.

Only at crucial places, such as the roof, the door, and the carved images, are adorned with vermilion.

Red is war, somber solemnity, the eternally burning flame of hot blood.

Because only battle can bring peace and brightness.

The door of Bright Hall is three meters high; the height inside is even greater. Upon entering, the first sight is a long table.

This is where the core members of Salvation Society hold their meetings, with a total of ten seats.

Now they are occupied by different faces engaged in a crucial meeting.

The one seated at the head is Han Zhan, a survivor from the Eastern Continent.

“…That’s the situation.”

Father Adam, clad in a middle-aged priest’s attire, spoke with his slightly deep voice.

“According to our deductions, the resurrection of Spiritual Energy itself will not change the size of our planet, so its expansion has other causes.”

“Yax was responsible for this part of the investigation, and from his report, we’ve found that the planet seems to have ‘more’ things that originally didn’t belong to it.”

“‘They,’ after merging with the planet, are likely the reason for the planet’s expansion.”

Upon hearing this report, Han Zhan nodded slightly.

One year of temperance and training had quickly transformed him from a naive youth into a leader dominant over a certain area.

“What are ‘they’?”

Han Zhan tapped the table, asking the question everyone wanted the answer to.

“‘They’ are complex, seemingly a kind of ‘concept,’ but if using substantial directing nouns to refer to ‘them,’ I think it should be—Ancient Ruins.”

Adam spoke up, the golden cross pendant hanging from his neck emitting a faint golden glow.

A mass of golden particles released from the golden cross recomposed and reassembled like a virtual projection, constructing a brand new form.

The vivid modeling allowed everyone to clearly see it seemed very like an underground palace.

“Ancient Ruins?” Han Zhan raised an eyebrow and repeated the term.

“So, your ‘major discovery, requiring a full-member meeting’ is for these Ancient Ruins?”

“Correct.”

Adam lightly nodded and continued:

“The resurrection of Spiritual Energy is just a facade; we should clearly define what it represents behind the scenes.”

“If Spiritual Energy originates from the Ancient Ruins, exploring them will undoubtedly bring us closer to the truth.”

“Moreover, the current stage of Exotic Beasts has been preliminarily controlled within City of Dawn and Salvation Society, so the time of everyone will be more abundant.”

Upon saying this, Adam glanced at Han Zhan.

The Exotic Beasts could be controlled this soon, due largely to Han Zhan’s contributions.

This is why, within a short year, he became a Savior whom all members of the Salvation Society trust.

“Then let’s vote on it.” Han Zhan nodded, looking at everyone else.

“I agree with exploring the Ancient Ruins.”

Next to the long table, a young man in monk’s kasaya slightly raised his hand and said.

“I second it.” It was spoken by a woman, dressed very casually, like a forest elf, naturally close.

“I don’t have a problem.”

“Agree.”

“Recently, I’ve been bored, exploring Ancient Ruins sounds good.” A tall, burly Giant spoke up.

Ultimately, Adam’s proposal was unanimously approved by all core members of the Salvation Society, passed with full votes.

Han Zhan did not oppose this proposal.

Adam’s statement was correct.

If the root of the resurrection of Spiritual Energy lies in the Ancient Ruins, then understanding them is unavoidable.

However…”We should proceed step by step, starting with small ruins to explore, carefully and steadily, avoiding reckless risks.”

Han Zhan reminded.

He might not remind often, but upon stating this, all core members of the Salvation Society focused their attention on him.

Even Father Adam, usually serene and expressionless, had a faint twitch on his lips.

Words like ‘careful and steady’ from the mouth of someone who fights like a frenzy, diving headlong into a pack of Exotic Beasts single-handedly, creates a stark contrast.

“No problem.”

The most righteous young Giant Sword Knight, Yax, spoke first, without much thought.

His knightly spirit is loyalty and order.

Since joining the Salvation Society and acknowledging Han Zhan as the Savior, it is necessary to follow every request he makes.

Yax’s firm reply resumed the stagnant atmosphere.

The air became lively again.

…

Spiritual Mist Year 3,

The members of the Salvation Society regrouped at Bright Hall.

This year, they explored numerous Ancient Ruins attempting to find the truth behind the resurrection of Spiritual Energy.

Among those present, some familiar faces remain, while some have completely new, unfamiliar ones.

The core members of the Salvation Society do not change casually, except for death.

The appearance of new faces also indicates that exploring Ancient Ruins is riskier than imagined.

The temples of the Giant Sword Knight Yax showed several strands of whitish hair.

The immense golden cross weighed Adam’s body further down.

Their efforts and sacrifices have not been in vain.

The exploration of Ancient Ruins this year, assembling all collected clues, pointed to the same place.

Seemingly the origin of everything lies there.

“There is the largest Ancient Ruin explored thus far, many times larger than those we’ve explored before.” Father Adam opened his eyes while speaking.

A faint golden glow flickered in his eyes, his strength had progressed substantially this year.

“Let’s go together and explore it.” Han Zhan, who hadn’t changed much, suggested, only occasionally releasing a breath while speaking.

Just a tiny trace of breath sent shivers through new core members of the Salvation Society, as though facing a Barbaric Blood Beast threatening to tear them apart.

Han Zhan’s proposal received unanimous consent from everyone.

He had a premonition,

they were already close to the final truth.
