Chapter 998: Chapter 358: Old Dreams

The battle within the Ancient Ruins continued for a long time.

Even for those as strong as Han Zhan, Adam, and the other top-talented members of the Salvation Society, the exploration progress was slow.

There were also many survivors like Nuannuan who were not affiliated with the City of Dawn or the Salvation Society, exploring from other directions.

Han Zhan was not worried about the appearance of these survivors.

Because he could sense that in the deepest part of the ruins, there existed an extremely terrifying aura.

The owner of that aura had power far exceeding all current superpower users, including himself.

However, if he had more time to kill all the demon beasts in the barbaric wilderness and devour them with Barbarian Witch Power,

Han Zhan believed he had the confidence to challenge that final enemy!

He communicated this decision to Adam and the others, and naturally, everyone supported it without objection.

Another half month passed.

When Han Zhan and his group finally reached the deepest part, each of them couldn’t conceal their extreme fatigue.

Yet, the aura emanating from each of them was unprecedentedly strong.

The higher concentration of Spiritual Mist in the Ancient Ruins, combined with daily battles, had drastically enhanced their strength.

As Han Zhan and his group adjusted their state, preparing for the final battle, the scene in the deepest part of the Ancient Ruins left them somewhat stunned.

There was no Prehistoric Giant Beast or any monstrous creature burning with terrifying flames.

All that was there was a Bronze Long Table.

Beside the Bronze Long Table were two figures, one tall and one short.

The shorter one was a young child who appeared to be about eight or nine years old, dressed in strange attire that seemed out of time.

The taller one was an old acquaintance, none other than Nuannuan, the president of the Hidden Cultivation Association, who had left bold words at the entrance of the Ancient Ruins earlier.

When Nuannuan saw Han Zhan and his group appear, her eyes lit up.

“You’ve finally arrived!”

Her superpower was time manipulation, allowing her to alter the flow of time around herself.

This gave her an almost ghost-like presence in the Ancient Ruins filled with wild beasts.

However, even then, she hadn’t managed to become the oriole that seized the final prize.

“This child says that only when those qualified to sit at the Bronze Long Table are all present will the greatest secret of this Ancient Ruins be unveiled.”

“I can’t sit there.”

Nuannuan said, exhaling a breath of turbid air.

Although she was the first to arrive, she couldn’t even sit at the Bronze Long Table, for as soon as she sat down, she would be ejected by the chair in the next second.

After several such attempts, she could only grit her teeth and give up.

As Nuannuan spoke, Han Zhan’s attention was always focused on that child.

Although the child appeared harmless, his senses didn’t lie.

This meant that the child before them was the most powerful presence he had detected in the depths of the ruins!

As Han Zhan watched him, the child also looked at Han Zhan.

After a moment, he nodded kindly to Han Zhan and then turned his gaze to the rest.

“You came here seeking an answer, didn’t you?”

“The answer is beneath this Bronze Long Table.”

“But to move it, all ten seats must be filled, and only those qualified can sit.”

“Who among you wants to give it a try?”

The boy ended his invitation to the crowd.

Seeing no response, he added:

“The River of Eternal Darkness is about to descend.”

“We don’t have much time left.”

His mysterious words left everyone looking at each other bewildered.

Father Adam, after some thought, was the first to step forward.

“I believe what he says.”

“You should be able to feel it, his power is beyond ours; if he wanted to deal with us, only Han Zhan might escape.”

“So, I choose to trust him this once.”

At this point, Yax was the second to step out, “My Sword of Justice didn’t react in any unusual way, and everything he said was true.”

“For that answer, I’m willing to give it a try.”

Han Zhan was the third to step forward.

He didn’t say much.

Adam and Yax had already said enough; he only made his choice through action.

Likewise, saying nothing was also an attitude, as Han Zhan wanted to tell the other members of the Salvation Society that his decision wasn’t compulsory.

Whether they tried or not, he wouldn’t force them; it was entirely voluntary.

After all was said and done, a total of thirteen members of the Salvation Society decided to give it a try.

They stepped forward and attempted each seat beside the Bronze Long Table one by one.

Ultimately, only six members successfully sat in their seats after numerous attempts.

They were: Han Zhan, Adam, Yax, a young woman with a grass crown named Riel, the ascetic Muhammad in monk robes, and a burly giant named Tarun.

Counting the boy who had long been seated there,

only three seats remained empty.

After waiting three to four days,

other top experts from various forces gradually began to arrive.

With the same statements, the young boy methodically selected the final three qualified individuals from among them.

In this way, everyone who met the conditions took their seats.

The ten seats beside the Bronze Long Table were now all occupied.

Seeing this, the boy sitting at the top left nodded in satisfaction.

“The conditions to open the Old Dreams have been met.”

“Come now, calm your minds. Don’t be too surprised. Next, you will have an encounter unique to each of you.”

“And the ‘truth’ you seek is beneath your feet…”

As soon as he spoke,

the Bronze Long Table suddenly radiated light, slowly rising towards the sky.

Those sitting in the high-backed chairs looked down.

The area where the Bronze Long Table had stood was now a gigantic stone tablet!

A Mysterious Stone Tablet inscribed with special characters!

As soon as they clearly saw it,

the giant stone tablet swiftly shrank to the size of a palm, detaching from the ground.

At the same time, on the Bronze Long Table, ten bronze-colored candles suddenly appeared.

The bronze-colored candles, once lit, burned with bronze-colored flames.

The curling smoke, dreamlike, transformed into a dense gray mist engulfing the entire Bronze Long Table.

Not just the Bronze Long Table.

Even below, the Awakened who weren’t chosen were also enveloped by the spreading black mist.

Everyone felt dizzy.

In their groggy state, they involuntarily drifted off to sleep.

“The impending catastrophe requires more helpers.”

“The more people who gain encounters from the Old Dreams, the more likely it is to change the outcome.”

“Then, may you all have a pleasant dream.”
