Chapter 72: Chapter 72: How Long Can He Hold the Position of Snow Wolf Clan Leader?

After seeing that the members of the Golden Dragon Clan had left, a female from the Snow Wolf Clan slowly walked up to Ophelia.

"My name is Maya. Ophelia, thank you for being willing to take in my mates. My mates and I will definitely be loyal to you from now on. If you don’t believe us, we can swear an oath to the Beast God."

The mates standing behind her looked completely serious, as if they would immediately swear the oath the moment Ophelia gave the word.

"Or if you need any help, you can tell us," Maya added.

"I don’t need you to swear an oath; time will prove everything," Ophelia replied. "I don’t need any help right now either. Just focus on living your own lives well."

Her new tribe was still in the preparatory stages. There would be plenty of need for manpower in the future, and she wouldn’t hesitate to ask when the time came. However, the earnest attitude of Maya and the others still took Ophelia by surprise.

She couldn’t help but ask, "Don’t you hate me? After all, I was the one who demanded Loki send you here. If it weren’t for me, you would still be with the Snow Wolf Clan, living with your parents and families. Do you really hold no resentment toward me in your hearts?"

She thought to herself that if she were in their shoes, she would definitely be resentful. She would even want to make the other party taste the pain of being separated from their flesh and blood.

Maya shook her head. "Even if we hadn’t come here, we would have been driven out of the tribe anyway."

"What do you mean?" Ophelia asked in confusion.

"Loki was already planning to expel the sick clan members. That’s why we don’t hate you. On the contrary, being sent here saved our lives."

"If we hadn’t been sent to the Golden Dragon Clan, we probably would have died out there long ago," another young female chimed in, her voice tinged with lingering sorrow.

"But you’re young females! How could Loki treat you like that? Did Soro and the elders actually agree to this?" Ophelia thought Loki must have completely lost his mind.

No wonder he had so obediently sent them over without putting up much of a fight when she laid out her conditions to exchange the medicine for the young females.

A hint of gloom flashed through the eyes of a Snow Wolf Clan male. "The Snow Wolf Clan has been catching less and less prey, and the clan members are already going hungry. We were severely ill, and Loki saw us as burdens. When he found out you were willing to take us off his hands, he probably woke up laughing in his sleep."

He had usually been quite close to Loki, but just because he and his mates had fallen ill, Loki couldn’t wait to get rid of them. The betrayal chilled him to the bone.

"Even so, it’s still because of me that you have to draw a line between yourselves and your families and friends," Ophelia said. She knew that once they no longer belonged to the same tribe, even the closest of relatives would end up on opposing sides if a conflict of interest arose between the two groups.

"We can’t blame you for that. If anyone is to blame, it’s Loki for his lack of responsibility. He clearly had another choice, but he deliberately chose to trade us for the medicine," a young female said, her eyes red with resentment.

"If territory is lost, it can still be won back through challenge matches, but he decided that land was more important than his people.

"And then there are the Clan Leader and those elders. They only care about their own interests and don’t give a damn whether we live or die. A tribe like that has completely broken our hearts."

They had never blamed Ophelia; the true culprit for all their suffering was the cowardly and incompetent Loki.

"Don’t worry, Ophelia. From now on, we will be absolutely loyal to you and the new tribe. Everything about the Snow Wolf Clan has nothing to do with us anymore," Maya said. "You helped us, and we genuinely want to stay and follow you."

A few males clenched their fists, their eyes welling with tears.

"Alright. Just focus on living your own lives. One day, Loki will regret abandoning you," Ophelia said warmly.

The males silently vowed, "Yes, we won’t let you down."

After settling the people from the Snow Wolf Clan, Ophelia and Tyler returned to the Golden Dragon Clan. She went straight to her parents and explained her intentions.

"Mother, Father, I’m planning to go to Ten Thousand Beasts City in a couple of days to apply for the establishment of a tribe."

A trace of reluctance flashed in Rebecca’s eyes. She tightly grasped Ophelia’s hands, her eyes already wet before she could even speak. "Do you have to be in such a hurry? Can’t you stay in the Golden Dragon Clan for a little longer? What am I supposed to do when I miss you after you leave?" Rebecca sobbed.

She had waited so long for her daughter to return, and now, barely two months later, her daughter was leaving again. As a mother, how could she bear to let her go?

"Mother, it’s not like I’m never coming back. Even if I have my own tribe, I can still come back to see you," Ophelia said with a smile, trying to soothe Rebecca’s emotions.

"Really? Will you really come to see me often?"

"Yes, I promise. We will come back frequently—as long as you don’t chase me away."

Rebecca pulled her daughter into a tight embrace. "We won’t, we won’t."

Leon watched the mother and daughter quietly from the side. After a moment of silence, he slowly spoke up. "Ophelia, your mother and I respect your decision. Just remember that the Golden Dragon Clan will always be your home."

Laxus’s voice also grew husky. "Yes, Ophelia. Since you want to come back often, you can’t choose a place that’s too far away. Choose a location for your new tribe that’s closer to the Golden Dragon Clan. That way, I can frequently bring Mother to see you."

Ophelia pondered for a moment, then nodded. "I promise you, I’ll try my best to choose a location close to the Golden Dragon Clan to build the new tribe."

Ophelia was also reluctant to leave her family, so choosing a nearby territory was naturally the best option.

"Ophelia, remember that no matter what happens, your father and brother will always be your strongest supporters." His paternal love was deep and steadfast; the usually taciturn Leon spoke a few extra words today.

"If you run into any difficulties, you must remember to come to your brother," Laxus added.

"I will." Her family’s heartfelt words filled Ophelia’s heart with warmth.

Two days later, before Ophelia could set off for Ten Thousand Beasts City, a male from the Snow Wolf Clan appeared at the Golden Dragon Clan.

He had been specifically sent by Loki, claiming he had something to deliver to the Clan Leader of the Golden Dragon Clan. His demeanor was exceedingly solemn.

Upon seeing the Snow Wolf Clan male being led over by his clan members, Laxus’s expression darkened. "What are you doing here? You’re not welcome."

"Clan Leader, Young Clan Leader, please don’t misunderstand. I’m just here to deliver a message. Loki wishes to invite you to attend the succession ceremony for the new Clan Leader." The Snow Wolf Clan messenger hurriedly stated his purpose, terrified that Laxus would beat him and throw him out in the next second.

"The new Clan Leader?" Ophelia was confused. What was Loki up to now?

"Yes. Loki has been chosen as our new Clan Leader. He would like to invite the Clan Leader, the Young Clan Leader, and Ophelia to attend."

Hearing that the new Clan Leader was Loki, Ophelia wasn’t surprised in the slightest. It seemed Loki had used the fever medicine to win over the clan’s respect and establish his prestige. He had finally gotten his wish. ℴ

Still, she hadn’t expected Loki to start digging his own grave so quickly. The rainy season had just ended, and instead of letting his clan members rest and recover, he was focused on holding a succession ceremony. He clearly had too much time on his hands.

Thinking back carefully, she remembered that in her past life, Loki had also become the Clan Leader of the Snow Wolf Clan right after the rainy season.

She just wondered how long he would manage to sit on that throne this time around, now that she wasn’t there to clean up his messes.
