In front of the stone house, the tall male’s face was as dark as storm clouds. His deep blue eyes shot a cold glare at the brown-haired male in front of him.

"What does his becoming the Clan Leader have to do with us? Whoever wants to go can go. We certainly aren’t going."

"Young Clan Leader, our Clan Leader specifically ordered us to get your agreement," the Snow Wolf Clan male said, looking troubled. Before he came, Loki had instructed him to ensure that the Golden Dragon Clan attended the Clan Leader succession ceremony, no matter what.

"Heh, he just wants to show off in front of us. Why should we give him what he wants? Get out of here right now, or don’t blame me for getting rough." Laxus could easily picture the smug look on Loki’s face just by thinking about it.

"Young Clan Leader, our Clan Leader invited you to his succession ceremony in hopes of using this opportunity to ease the tension between our two clans."

Ophelia spoke up slowly, her tone cold and hard. "Go back and tell him to give up on that idea. I will never have anything to do with him or the Snow Wolf Clan ever again!"

"Princess Ophelia, the Clan Leader truly wants to repair the relationship between our two clans," the Snow Wolf Clan male said, sweating profusely in anxiety.

"He became the Clan Leader through shameless means, and he still has the nerve to hold a succession ceremony? It’s utterly ridiculous. You Wolf Beasts are truly blind and ignorant." Laxus absolutely despised Loki for his past betrayal of the young female. "Now scram."

Seeing that Laxus was genuinely angry, the Snow Wolf Clan male didn’t dare to stay any longer and hurriedly left.

From beginning to end, Leon’s expression remained perfectly calm. Only after the messenger left did he look at Ophelia. "What do you think about this matter, Ophelia? Do you want to go?"

Ophelia bit her lip and glanced at Tyler beside her, feeling a bit lost. She had important things to do right now and didn’t have the time to deal with them. Yet, those two were always jumping around in front of her, which was truly annoying.

Leon sighed as he watched Ophelia’s conflicted expression. "Even though everything is in the past, you’re still tangled up with him.

"Why don’t you make a trip to the Snow Wolf Clan and cut ties with him openly and properly? That way, Loki shouldn’t have the face to pester you anymore."

Ophelia’s eyes lit up. That was indeed a good idea. Loki was someone who cared deeply about his reputation, especially now that he had become the Clan Leader. He had definitely invited people from other nearby tribes to his succession ceremony. With so many people watching, he likely wouldn’t be shameless enough to keep bothering her. Then she could finally live a peaceful life for a while.

"Alright, I’ll go."

"Mm, just consider it saying goodbye to the past." Leon nodded, thinking that his daughter’s lovesickness had finally been cured. This way, he would feel much more at ease when she went out to establish her new tribe.

Laxus disagreed and stepped forward to object. "No! Loki is malicious. My sister cannot go. What if he plots against Ophelia again?"

"Brother, Tyler will be with me. You don’t need to worry."

Tyler stated with a solemn expression, "I will protect the Princess until the end of my life."

Laxus was left speechless. Why was he suddenly subjected to such a sickly-sweet display of affection?

The news of Loki becoming the Clan Leader quickly spread to the Golden Dragon Clan as well. After all, the moment Loki took power, he had widely invited his "friends." It would be hard not to know even if they wanted to stay in the dark.

"Did you hear? Loki became the Clan Leader, and he even invited the Young Clan Leader and Ophelia to attend his succession ceremony."

A few clan members were chattering about it all at once, and their words just happened to reach the ears of Amy, who was playing by the stream. Her rattan ball rolled into the water, but she was in no mood to retrieve it. She felt a surge of excitement in her heart.

"Grandma Rebecca, did my father really become the Clan Leader? I... I want to go back to the Snow Wolf Clan to see."

"Father said before that once he becomes the Clan Leader, I would be the most noble young female cub in the Snow Wolf Clan, and I could live a good life.

"Besides, Father didn’t abandon me. He just left me in the Golden Dragon Clan temporarily. He said he would come and pick me up."

The vanity of soon becoming the most noble young female cub of the Snow Wolf Clan made Amy completely ignore her father’s past "abandonment." She thought to herself that if her father apologized, she would forgive him just this once.

At this thought, she felt a flare of resentment toward Rebecca’s interference.

Unaware of what Amy was thinking, Rebecca assumed that children simply had short memories and that she just missed her father. So, she tried to persuade her earnestly.

Amy threw off Rebecca’s hand. "Grandma, I am my father’s daughter! He was just confused for a moment. He will treat me very well—better than any of you ever could!

"Why are you always trying to stop me from going back to the Snow Wolf Clan, Grandma? Do you just not want me to have a good life? Do you not want to see my father and me reconcile?"

Rebecca felt a sharp pain in her heart. "How could I not want you to have a good life? I’m just worried that you’ll suffer grievances if you go back."

After all, it was common knowledge that a new stepmother often turned a loving father into a neglectful one. Loki was still young. Once he and Miche became mates and had new children together, his treatment of Amy would inevitably be far worse than before. Rebecca felt her heart ache just thinking about it.

"Grandma, my father is the Clan Leader now, and he will be good to me. Stop saying bad things about him, or else I’m going to hate you!" Amy stomped her foot in anger, her attitude turning hostile toward Rebecca, who she saw as an obstacle to her happiness.

She had had enough of pretending to be well-behaved and acting subservient. She was going back to the Snow Wolf Clan to be the most noble female cub.

"Amy, you misunderstand..." Rebecca couldn’t help but let her eyes redden. She reached out to grab Amy’s hand, only for the young cub to dodge away.

"I don’t want to stay in the Golden Dragon Clan anymore! You’re all stopping me from going back to the Snow Wolf Clan! I hate you! I hate all of you!" With that, Amy ran away.

Rebecca stood frozen in place, suddenly understanding her daughter’s past state of mind.

To be hated by the very daughter she had painstakingly raised, the one she had poured all her heart and soul into—it was agonizing. And she was only a grandmother, loving Amy out of her love for her own daughter. But Amy was a piece of Ophelia’s own flesh and blood. How much must her daughter’s heart have ached back then?

Crystal-clear tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes. She felt deep regret, not daring to blame her daughter for being heartless.

As a mother, she had turned against her own biological daughter for the sake of an "outsider." She had been so, so horribly wrong!
