Chapter 469: Attack

“Those decaying giant ships… they look like they’re from the Great Liang Kingdom of the Xisha Continent!”

Someone spotted the flags on the decaying giant ships and cried out in alarm.

Han Yuan looked over and saw that one of the decaying giant ships ramming them did indeed fly a Black Tiger Banner.

That was the flag of the Great Liang Kingdom.

‘Could it be…?’ Han Yuan’s brow furrowed slightly.

BANG BANG BANG!!!

The decaying ships continued to ram them, making the deck lurch violently.

But with the protective array in place, there was no immediate risk of capsizing.

But out on the dark sea, many more decaying ships lurked.

These giant ships, as if controlled by some mysterious force, sped across the water’s surface. They cut through the wind and waves like dark, decaying beasts, roaring as they charged the fleet.

The ships of the Four Great Dynasties began to flicker with Spiritual Light as they raised their defensive barriers.

BOOM! RUMBLE!

The sea instantly erupted into chaos.

Unsure of what they were dealing with, the forces of the Four Great Dynasties could only defend themselves for the time being. No one dared to attack.

Just then, thick, heavy storm clouds gathered in the sky. Lightning flashed, and a violent gale swept across the sea!

The storm was upon them once more!

Enormous, turbulent waves rose madly, throwing the scene into even greater chaos.

The ceaseless pounding of the waves kicked up endless spray, filling the air with a dense, rain-like mist.

Han Yuan’s legs were rooted to the deck, and he remained perfectly still no matter how the great ship was battered.

By now, more and more people had gathered on deck.

Everyone was watching the rotting behemoths, trying to assess the situation.

Liang Ze was on another giant ship, coordinating the fleet of the Four Great Dynasties.

Ling Yunzi had also moved to a different vessel.

After all, it was a waste of their strength for both him and Han Yuan to remain on the same ship.

In other words, Han Yuan was now the de facto commander of this ship.

Therefore, the many Divine Sea Martial Artists on deck all turned to Han Yuan, waiting for him to make a decision.

“I’m going to go see what’s happening.”

“You all stay here and wait for word from me.”

Han Yuan said in a deep voice.

With that, he leaped into the air, jumping directly onto one of the rotting ships.

THUD!!

As he landed on the rotting ship’s deck, a strange sensation washed over him.

It felt as if he were stepping on flesh, lacking the hard, unyielding feel of wooden planks.

An indescribable, putrid aura immediately flared up, trying to corrode and corrupt Han Yuan’s flesh and bone.

Han Yuan immediately activated his Five Emperors Great Demon Divine Skill. A surge of Fire Evil Qi, hot as a blazing furnace, erupted from him and instantly incinerated the putrid, decaying aura.

His entire body was wreathed in Divine Flame, making him look like a Fire God who had descended to the mortal world. He was a stark contrast to the damp, putrid atmosphere.

Han Yuan scanned the deck. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, he started toward the ship’s cabins.

He wanted to see what lay within the cabins.

‘From the looks of it, this ship from the Xisha Continent’s Great Liang Kingdom must have been attacked by the Immortal Sect Organization, and then underwent some kind of bizarre transformation.’

He didn’t know the specifics yet; he would have to investigate to find out.

Just as Han Yuan started for the cabins, he felt countless malicious presences materialize out of thin air, all focusing on him.

He stopped in his tracks.

He turned to look.

The deck began to squirm as if it were living flesh. One by one, grotesque, ethereal Resentful Souls materialized, their faces twisted in savagery and radiating intense malice.

These Resentful Souls were incredibly powerful. The aura of hatred they gave off was even more immense than that of an Evil Demon Seed.

A situation like this meant only one thing.

These Resentful Souls must have been incredibly powerful individuals in life. Only after being subjected to some bizarre corruption upon death could they have transformed into such horrifying apparitions.

The Resentful Souls stared at Han Yuan, letting out crazed, unearthly shrieks as they brandished their Ghost Claws and lunged at him.

“This will be a nice treat for you.”

Han Yuan smirked and drew his Heaven-Defying Saber.

As if provoked by the intense malice of the Resentful Souls, the Heaven-Defying Saber began to tremble violently.

A pitch-black, emaciated Sword Soul with dozens of arms materialized in the air above the blade, roaring at the Resentful Souls.

Han Yuan poured his Fire Evil Qi into it, and the entire Heaven-Defying Saber was instantly engulfed in a blazing, scorching light.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!!

Dense flashes of crimson saber light coalesced into a roaring Fire Dragon that lunged forward, all fangs and claws.

The terrifying Resentful Souls had just charged forward when they slammed into the Fire Dragon!

BOOM!!!

A fiery explosion erupted.

Countless Resentful Souls shrieked in agony as the flames consumed, incinerated, and utterly annihilated them.

Han Yuan’s figure became a blur. With his arms a flurry of motion, he unleashed a rapid succession of crimson saber strikes.

Before the light of his saber, the Resentful Souls were instantly torn to shreds and incinerated.

The Heaven-Defying Saber’s soul eagerly devoured the potent resentment left behind as the Resentful Souls dissipated, growing more and more excited.

A dozen breaths later, Han Yuan had slain every last Resentful Soul on the deck in a single, sustained assault.

After devouring so much potent resentment, the Heaven-Defying Saber’s soul looked like it had eaten its fill. Its emaciated, illusory Soul Body swelled madly, instantly transforming from a stick figure into a bloated glutton.

‘Eating so much at once… aren’t you afraid you’ll burst?’

Han Yuan shook his head, speechless, and recalled the Heaven-Defying Saber’s soul.

Having absorbed so much resentment, the Heaven-Defying Saber itself seemed to have undergone a bizarre change. The blade was now covered in dense, black markings that resembled Ghost Claws, and it pulsed with a terrifying Evil Qi.

‘Looks like I won’t be able to use this saber for a while.’
