I Grind to Martial Saint

Chapter 474: Mural 2

By his reckoning, the city must have lain in ruins since at least the end of the Chaotic Ancient Era.

But as he looked over, he saw that the collapsed, tilted metal building showed no signs of rust.

“It looks like this metal structure was destroyed in an instant by some immense force.”

Li Baozhou said softly, looking at the metal building.

An image formed in Han Yuan’s mind.

A hexagonal skyscraper stood tall, piercing the sky.

A colossal monster roared at the sky, swinging its giant claws and slamming them viciously into the middle of the building.

CRASH.

Because the skyscraper was so sturdy, it only partially collapsed instead of being reduced to rubble.

“Some kind of cataclysm must have happened here, too.”

Han Yuan said thoughtfully.

“Hmm… It’s hard to imagine how the Immortal Sect Organization managed to construct something like this.”

Li Baozhou nodded, his gaze still filled with shock as he looked around.

Han Yuan, however, was bolder. He walked up to the half-collapsed hexagonal structure, reached out, and gave it a hard squeeze!

CRACK!

A piece of metal came off in Han Yuan’s hand as if it were tofu.

“The hardness of this metal… it seems comparable to a Divine Weapon.”

Han Yuan said in a low voice.

It was only because his strength was so terrifying that he made it look easy.

A normal Divine Sea Expert would have had to put in some effort to break off a piece.

Hearing this, Li Baozhou was skeptical.

After all, this entire strange building was made of this metal.

And it wasn’t just this one. Nearly every building in the entire city was constructed from it.

Just how much of this precious metal would that have required?

Li Baozhou couldn’t even begin to imagine. The amount had to be astronomical.

He also reached out and tried to break off a piece of the metal.

In that moment, he became a firm believer in Han Yuan’s judgment.

“How is this possible… Even if you scoured all four continents, you couldn’t possibly gather this much precious metal.”

Li Baozhou said, stunned.

“Perhaps they had some kind of special technology.”

“As for the raw materials… maybe they were mined from the Stormy Sea Floor.”

“I’ve heard before that there are extremely rich ore veins on the seafloor… they’re just incredibly difficult to mine.”

Han Yuan said softly.

This was something he could just about comprehend, given his knowledge.

“Is that so…”

Li Baozhou remained skeptical.

Next, the two began to explore the desolate, cold city, which was filled with a deathly stillness.

Along the way, they saw many signs of destruction. It looked as if the city had endured an exceptionally brutal battle.

“That’s odd… A long time must have passed since the cataclysm. Why didn’t the Immortal Sect Organization ever think of rebuilding this place? Why just let it remain in ruins?”

Li Baozhou said with a frown.

“…I have a theory.”

“At its peak, the Immortal Sect Organization built this great city…”

“From the looks of it now, after the cataclysm erupted in the city, the people of the Immortal Sect Organization suffered devastating losses. They may have even lost their legacies and the techniques for refining this metal, which is why they couldn’t repair it.”

Han Yuan speculated.

“That’s very likely.”

“It’s truly hard to imagine how glorious this city must have been at its peak.”

Li Baozhou said with a sigh, looking at the surrounding scenery.

The two continued onward.

Of course, neither Han Yuan nor Li Baozhou let their guard down. They appeared relaxed, but they were actually paying close attention to any strange movements around them.

After all, they hadn’t forgotten that despite its ruined state, this was still the main base of the Immortal Sect Organization.

The Nether Dragon could be hiding somewhere, secretly watching them, waiting for the moment they revealed an opening.

Soon, they arrived at what appeared to be a plaza.

There were few structures in the plaza, and it was relatively well-preserved. The ground was made of a dark silver metal, marked with giant footprints, as if it had been trampled by a giant.

Han Yuan glanced at the giant footprints. They didn’t look human, but more like the talons of a bird, just magnified countless times over.

“Just what kind of cataclysm happened back then…”

Han Yuan muttered to himself.

In the center of the plaza was a toppled metal statue.

Here, it seemed everything was made of metal.

There were no bricks, cement, or stone—everything was crafted from that special metal, just in different colors.

The metal statue had fallen, so Han Yuan leaped onto a nearby collapsed building.

The buildings around the plaza were exceptionally massive. Even collapsed, they were tall enough to overlook the entire area.

Once Han Yuan was standing on the collapsed building, he finally got a clear view of the entire metal statue.

It was a middle-aged man with features as hard and chiseled as steel. His hands were clasped behind his back as he gazed into the distance.

“Who is this?” Han Yuan frowned slightly.

SWISH!

Li Baozhou also leaped up, landing beside Han Yuan. He, too, was puzzled when he saw the metal statue.

“This must be a leader of the Immortal Sect Organization… and someone of extremely high status, or his statue wouldn’t be standing in the middle of this plaza.”

Li Baozhou analyzed.

“I have a feeling this person is very likely the founder of the Immortal Sect Organization.”

Han Yuan said in a low voice.

It was a gut feeling.

Only the founder of the Immortal Sect Organization would be worthy of being immortalized here.

“It’s possible… although their dispositions are different…”

“But it looks like this man… and the Nether Dragon… have some similar facial features.”

Li Baozhou’s expression grew grim.

“Does that mean he could be the Nether Dragon’s ancestor?”

Han Yuan was a little surprised.

“It’s highly likely.” Li Baozhou nodded.

This city had given him one shock after another.

After searching the plaza and finding nothing, the two continued onward.

About twenty minutes later, they still hadn’t been attacked by anyone from the Immortal Sect Organization, but they did encounter a very strange building.

It was a dark, pyramid-like structure.

The tip of the pyramid seemed to have been shattered by a palm strike, but the structure as a whole hadn’t suffered devastating damage.

“Elder Li, let’s go inside and take a look.”

Han Yuan took a deep breath, a hint of anticipation in his eyes.

“Alright… but be careful.”

Li Baozhou himself was also very curious about the internal structure of these buildings.

The two began to search for an entrance into the pyramid.

Han Yuan soon found a pitch-black doorway on the back side.

He went in first, with Li Baozhou following behind.

Once inside, even though it was daytime, the interior was incredibly dark. The temperature was low, and the atmosphere was oppressive and gloomy.

Han Yuan immediately gathered his Fire Evil Qi.

HUMMM—

Like a human torch, he suddenly illuminated his surroundings.

Even the temperature began to rise rapidly.

They were in a spacious hall. The floor was littered with metal debris, and the scene was a total mess.

“Huh… There seem to be murals here.”

Li Baozhou exclaimed in surprise.

Han Yuan immediately followed his gaze and saw that there were indeed a series of metal murals on the wall.

He and Li Baozhou didn’t hesitate, walking over to get a better look.

The first mural depicted many people in animal skins kneeling on the ground in worship.

In the sky above them was a giant spaceship.

The ship appeared to be composed of countless lines of Energy, forming a triangle with a futuristic design.

When Han Yuan saw this mural, he shuddered.

It seemed to connect all of his previous speculations.

He quickly looked at the second one.

The triangular ship had crashed on the ground, and a middle-aged man with features as cold and hard as steel had emerged.

The people in animal skins were all excited, raising their hands high and cheering wildly.

The third mural showed them, under the leadership of the middle-aged man, creating a vast, magnificent, and unimaginable city.

In the fourth mural, the middle-aged man stood at the top of the pyramid, accepting the worship and submission of all the people.

“Looks like your guess was right.”

“That middle-aged man really is the founder of the Immortal Sect Organization.”

Li Baozhou finished looking at the murals and said in a low voice.

Although there were only four murals, they revealed a great deal of information and confirmed several of their earlier theories.
