I Grind to Martial Saint
Chapter 481: Speculation
Before the Nether Dragon died, he told Han Yuan an address.
The laboratory he had explored before actually had a basement.
The Nether Dragon had hidden all his secrets there.
Han Yuan went there this time to find out what was really going on.
The laboratory was far from the battlefield’s center and hadn’t suffered any damage.
When Han Yuan arrived, the building stood just as it had before, with only its Fifth Layer damaged.
After entering the First Layer, Han Yuan didn’t head for the stairs to the second floor, but instead went into one of the central rooms.
This room was also a complete mess.
Back when he and Li Baozhou were exploring, they had only given it a cursory glance before moving on.
This time, however, Han Yuan walked over to a broken metal statue in the corner of the room.
The statue’s upper half was completely destroyed, while its lower half was shaped like a flowerpot.
Han Yuan crouched down and turned the flowerpot-like base half a circle to the left.
RUMBLE…
Han Yuan felt the ground tremble.
He stood up, left the room, and returned to the main hall.
A dark, subterranean entrance had appeared in the middle of the main hall’s open floor.
“Looks like that fellow, the Nether Dragon, didn’t lie to me after all.”
Han Yuan murmured softly as he looked at the entrance.
He walked down the stairs of the underground entrance and arrived in a secret chamber.
The chamber’s furnishings were simple: just a bed, a desk, and a row of bookshelves.
Han Yuan walked to the desk and saw a diary.
The diary was open, its pages filled with the script of the Great Li Dynasty.
“Let me guess who you are… Li Baozhou? No, that’s not right. He doesn’t have the potential. He’s strong, yes, but he doesn’t have the power to kill me.”
“So, you must be Han Yuan.”
“In this entire world, you are the only one who could have killed me…”
“I can’t figure out how a low-level civilization like this could produce a monster like you.”
“Could you be the legendary Child of Destiny?”
Reading this, the corner of Han Yuan’s mouth twitched.
He hadn’t expected the Nether Dragon to predict his own death at his hands.
Moreover, he could glean a few things from these words.
The Nether Dragon calling this world a “low-level civilization” fit with what Han Yuan knew of his identity.
After all, the Nether Dragon himself was a descendant of the Immortal Sect’s creator.
From what Han Yuan understood, the creator of the Immortal Sect had clearly come from a more advanced civilization.
Han Yuan composed his thoughts and continued reading the diary.
“Next, I’m going to tell you a few things… I hope you don’t fall into despair.”
“A long, long time ago, my ancestor descended upon this world.”
“According to some records, he came from the Black River Civilization, a mid-tier civilization.”
“Later, for reasons unknown, my ancestor boarded the Celestial Brightness and came to this world, carrying with him the Source Demon Blood and the Ancient God Stone… He landed on Glazed Island, where he guided the island’s natives in building a city and established the first Immortal Sect Organization.”
“My ancestor relentlessly researched the Source Demon Blood, hoping to harness the immense power hidden within… The Ancient God Stone, meanwhile, emitted a powerful radiation that could suppress the mutations caused by the blood.”
“In the blink of an eye, more than a thousand years passed… My ancestor’s life was coming to an end… Though his research was not yet complete, he had no choice but to make a desperate attempt: integrating the Source Demon Blood into his own body.”
“And so… my ancestor transformed into the Source Seed… His mind became utterly chaotic. At times he was lucid, at others he was like a completely different person… Then one night, he went completely insane… Many people in the city were infected and also lost their minds… The city was transformed into a bloody Hell.”
“Overnight, the city was reduced to ruins, and even the Ancient God Stone was lost in the chaos.”
“The few who were fortunate enough to survive converted the Celestial Brightness into the Immortal Sect, and then sealed our ancestor inside.”
“Afterward, to help our ancestor regain his sanity, the survivors left Glazed Island and began spreading legends about the Immortal Sect throughout the world. In truth, their goal was to lure powerful experts into the Immortal Sect so our ancestor could devour and absorb them.”
“But no one could have predicted it. Our ancestor was already completely corrupted by the Source Demon Blood. He tainted all who entered, transforming them into Source Evil Seeds and Evil Demon Seeds… And so began the Chaotic Ancient Era…”
“And we, his descendants… were cursed as well…”
“Sometimes I feel like I’m the Nether Dragon. Other times, I become someone else…”
“A complete stranger, someone who terrifies me… I have my suspicions… perhaps our ancestor’s consciousness never died… His blood flows through my veins… and his consciousness is slowly awakening within me… He’s controlling me, trying to make me go to the Immortal Sect…”
“He wants to break free from the Immortal Sect…”
“By the time I realized this, it was already too late…”
“Han Yuan… killing me was a release…”
“But for you, a greater challenge now awaits.”
“Our ancestor’s consciousness has awakened. Even if you manage to find the Ancient God Stone, you may not be his match.”
“You don’t have much time. Even though I didn’t go to the Immortal Sect, our ancestor’s consciousness will likely try to break out within the next hundred years…”
“So, how about it? Feeling hopeless yet?!”
“Still, since you were able to kill even me, perhaps there’s a sliver of a chance.”
“The files on the bookshelf are for reference. You can take a look, but they won’t be of much use.”
