Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Benefactor, We Meet Again

School let out soon, and there wasn’t much point in Shu Yao staying.

Teacher Wei told her to go home for now and come back in the afternoon.

After seeing Shu Yao off, Teacher Wei returned to the classroom with a swagger in his step.

This student, Shu, might just be the first he’s ever taught to get into Imperial University.

’Snagging her like this was a bit shameless, though.’

A lovely figure darted over and blocked his path.

The girl bowed a perfect ninety degrees. "Hello, Teacher Wei! I’m Wen Miaomiao from Class One!"

"Oh, Wen. Hello there."

Wen Miaomiao of Class One—pretty, sweet-voiced, and an excellent student. She was one of the top students in this year’s graduating class, the pride of Imperial High School.

Of course Teacher Wei recognized her.

But he was puzzled. ’Isn’t Class One in session right now?’

"Wen, is there something you need?"

"Teacher Wei!" Wen Miaomiao took an excited step forward. "I want to be in Class Six! Please, take me in!"

"!!!"

Teacher Wei was floored.

’I must be hearing things!’

He quickly regained his composure. "Ahem, Wen, of course I’d welcome you to Class Six. But this isn’t something you or I can decide."

Wen Miaomiao considered this seriously for a moment, then suddenly spoke up. "You’re right, Teacher Wei! I’ll go take care of the class transfer paperwork right now!"

Teacher Wei: "!!!"

’Wait... Is Wen actually serious?!’

「In the afternoon.」

Shu Yao arrived early.

The campus was bustling with activity.

Having received a message from Teacher Wei, she went to meet him at the entrance of the academic building.

Teacher Wei led her to Class Six.

Even with their head teacher present, the students in the classroom were still a rowdy bunch.

Teacher Wei gave an awkward smile.

"The discipline in Class Six is... relatively relaxed." He scanned the room before calling on a student. "Ke Dancheng, show the new student around campus, then take her to the library to download the curriculum from elementary school through high school."

At the sound of his name, a rather unnoticeable boy stood up slowly. He pushed up his non-prescription, black-framed glasses and silently looked at the new student standing beside the teacher.

When he saw the new student’s hands, his eyes lit up behind the lenses of his glasses.

They were an exceptionally beautiful pair of hands—the fingers long and slender, fair and immaculate, like they were carved from white jade.

’He felt like... he’d seen them before.’

Ke Dancheng silently accepted his teacher’s assignment. He was leading the new student out when they nearly collided with a girl rushing toward them in a flurry.

Wen Miaomiao burst into Class Six, screeching to a halt at the doorway. The moment she saw Shu Yao, she instantly regained her ladylike composure.

"Savior, we meet again!"

"..." Shu Yao said to Ke Dancheng, who was in front of her, "Ke, let’s go."

Ke Dancheng pushed up his glasses and gave a wooden nod.

Wen Miaomiao followed closely behind them, undeterred. "Savior, it’s okay if you don’t remember me! I know it was you!"

Watching the three of them leave, Teacher Wei was rather surprised.

’Wen Miaomiao came all this way for the new student?’

Wen Miaomiao clung to Shu Yao, chattering nonstop. "Savior, I haven’t forgotten for a single moment in these past five years! But I could never find you afterward. When the Battle of Ice City broke out, I thought you might have... died. I cried for so long! Then I heard that a mysterious team had emerged around that time, and I just knew it had to be you..."

"Shut up!" Shu Yao’s voice was hard and cold. The low command brought the other girl’s chatter to an abrupt halt.

Ke Dancheng, standing to the side, noticed the new student’s pale fingertips digging into her palm.

’She was holding back, restraining herself.’

Wen Miaomiao whispered, "I’m sorry," then pressed her lips together tightly.

The malice in Shu Yao’s eyes receded, but her brows remained knitted in a cold, agitated frown. It was as if her previously placid, gentle demeanor had been nothing more than an illusion.

Ke Dancheng led them into the library.

Shu Yao’s head throbbed as she watched dozens of gigabytes of data download. ’My Light Brain can handle all this, but my actual brain? Not so sure!’

’This is torture.’

Shu Yao was pinching the bridge of her nose when she suddenly heard a familiar voice.

"Sister Shu, what are you doing here?"

It was Lin Zhenxiang.
