I Received System to Become Dragonborn
Chapter 1484: Vague Clues
The mention of Dragonborn presences scattered across other worlds immediately caught Erend’s attention.
He fell silent for several moments as he stood within the vast white space of his subconscious realm. The endless white walls stretched infinitely in every direction while black checker patterns covered the floor beneath his feet. Despite visiting this place many times, Erend still found it strangely calming whenever he needed time to think.
Ancient Dragonborns... The possibility that others of his kind had existed long before him raised countless questions. Until now, the four Dragonborns had possessed almost no information regarding their own origins.
They did not know who created the Dragonborn, why they existed, or whether they were simply chosen by fate or part of something much greater. Excluding Erend of course, who got his powers from the System.
Perhaps the answers they had been searching for all this time had already been left behind somewhere within the countless worlds of the universe.
Unfortunately, Erend could not even begin to imagine what they would find.
Would they discover ancient Dragonborn civilizations? Forgotten techniques? Powerful weapons? A way to overcome the Black Rage? Or perhaps nothing more than abandoned ruins and fragmented records.
Whatever the truth might be, Erend knew for certain that this discovery was far too important to ignore. Not only for himself but also for Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven.
"Tell me more," Erend said as he turned his attention back toward Veyrun.
The being of light nodded slightly before several floating windows of information materialized before him.
"After conducting extensive research throughout countless fragmented records and remnants of ancient civilizations," Veyrun began in his usual mechanical tone, "I have successfully identified three worlds that possess vague references to Dragonborn activity. The information remains incomplete and fragmented, but the probability of authenticity is sufficiently high."
Several images made of light appeared before Erend.
"The first world is known as Elyndor," Veyrun said.
A beautiful world covered by enormous floating islands appeared before him. Vast oceans of clouds stretched endlessly beneath mountain ranges that floated high in the sky.
"Ancient records discovered within the ruins of an extinct civilization mention a being known as the Sky Tyrant. The description states that it possessed Draconic characteristics, wielded golden flames, and was capable of tearing the sky apart.
"According to the surviving records, the Sky Tyrant was revered as both a guardian and a calamity. The civilization worshipped this being for over three thousand years before mysteriously disappearing. Several murals depict what appears to be a humanoid Dragon surrounded by flames."
Erend narrowed his eyes slightly. That description sounded really similar to a Dragonborn. However, it was still far too vague to draw any conclusions.
"The second world is designated as Valthoria."
The floating image changed once again. This world appeared significantly darker and more hostile. Endless mountain ranges of black stone stretched across the horizon, gigantic storms continuously covered the skies.
"Historical documents recovered from this world describe a wandering warrior known only as the Black Scale King. Different from the records found in Elyndor, this individual was never worshipped. Instead, he traveled across the world challenging ancient beasts and cosmic creatures."
The image shifted once more and revealed what appeared to be an enormous black spear embedded within the remains of a battlefield.
"The Black Scale King allegedly left behind an ancient trial somewhere within this world. Those who seek his legacy must survive challenges designed to test one’s body, soul, and spirit. Unfortunately, the location of this trial remains unknown."
Erend immediately found himself interested in this particular record. A Dragonborn’s trial? If the information proved true, then it could potentially contain knowledge regarding the Black Rage or the powers possessed by previous generations.
Finally, Veyrun presented the third world. "The final world is known as Astryveil."
This time, the image depicted a beautiful world illuminated by countless stars despite it being daytime. Enormous crystalline forests covered its surface with rivers of glowing energy flowing throughout the land.
"The information discovered here is the oldest among the three worlds. Ancient texts discovered within the world of Astryveil repeatedly mention the existence of four Dragons born from the stars. These beings were described as travelers who journeyed across worlds while protecting the balance of existence."
The floating images changed once more to reveal several incomprehensible symbols carved into old stone tablets.
"Look at this. One particular text mentions a location referred to as the First Nest. Unfortunately, approximately eighty-three percent of the available records have been lost or corrupted over time. The exact nature of the First Nest remains unknown."
Erend stared at the floating images before him and slowly crossed his arms. Everything sounded incredibly important. And yet, at the same time, everything remained frustratingly vague.
He simply did not have enough information to determine whether any of these records genuinely referred to Dragonborns or merely ancient Draconic entities that happened to resemble them.
There were too many missing pieces.
"So, in other words," Erend finally said, "we won’t know anything for certain until we visit them ourselves."
"Correct," Veyrun immediately replied. "My analysis indicates that direct investigation is currently the most efficient course of action. There is no further information that can be obtained remotely."
Erend let out a small sigh before looking back at the three worlds floating before him.
Three worlds... so they had three possible Dragonborn legacies and three opportunities to uncover the truth behind their origins.
Most importantly, perhaps one of them held the answers they desperately needed regarding the Black Rage and the future that awaited the Dragonborns.
Erend made a small nod with a solemn expression appearing on his face. He finally felt as though he had found a clear direction for the next journey for him and his friends.
"I’ll tell the others about this," Erend said.
The ancient Dragonborns had left something behind somewhere in the vast universe and they needed to find it sooner.
"For now, let’s postpone the idea of splitting up. We have to head there together."
After that, Erend was back into the real world again.
