Yun Ji glanced at the beast soldiers below and frowned. "There are a lot of them."

The beast soldiers of Tiger Beast City stood in formation outside the gates, ready for a fight.

Soon, some of the beast-people who had followed along spotted Qiao Xixi’s approaching group.

"I-Is that them? The evil beasts?"

"That’s right! They’re the evil beasts who abducted the beast-people of Tiger Beast City! On my command, everyone attack! Kill the evil beasts!"

"Get the evil beasts!"

Roaring, the beast soldiers and other beast-people charged toward Qiao Xixi’s group.

Sunxuan glanced at the charging soldiers and immediately transformed. He shot from the rear of the group to the front, blocking the soldiers from reaching Qiao Yi and the others.

Seeing this, Qiao Xixi spoke up. "Xijing, quickly! Make them stop."

Xijing gave a slight nod. He stepped forward, and as he opened his mouth, a song flowed from his throat—its melody was beautiful, yet laced with a bewitching power.

The song was so powerful it pierced through the clamor, striking directly at its listeners’ minds.

One moment, the beast soldiers and beast-people were charging forward; the next, they were completely enveloped by the song.

The world before their eyes began to shift and change rapidly.

Fengxuan, who was at the back, sensed something was wrong. The color drained from his face.

"It’s a siren’s Illusion Technique! Everyone, on my command, cover your ears! Don’t let the siren’s illusion fool you!"

Beast soldiers with high-level beast souls tried to resist Xijing’s Illusion Technique with their own beast soul energy, but those with weaker souls found it nearly impossible.

The momentum of the once-aggressive army was shattered in an instant, and they fell into disarray.

The beast soldiers, having regained their senses, prepared to charge once more.

But just as they were about to reach Qiao Xixi and her companions, the males from within their own ranks rushed forward.

The beast-people at the rear surged forward impatiently, their speed even surpassing that of the beast soldiers.

Qiao Xixi’s group didn’t try to stop the oncoming beast-people. Instead, upon seeing their relatives, the newcomers instinctively moved to stand in front of the beast soldiers, fearing their loved ones would be harmed.

The voices denouncing Jin Wei and his followers grew louder. The beast-people from the city who had rushed out were utterly stunned.

They had never imagined that the ones who had truly harmed their kin were the very people they had always trusted most.

"City Lord, is what they’re saying true?"

"Yes, City Lord! Did you really capture Zhenzhen and the others!?"

Faced with the barrage of questions, Fengxuan was about to insist that Qiao Xixi’s group was lying, but Jin Wei, in a fit of rage, roared out the truth.

"I was just trying to make you stronger! It’s your own uselessness that’s to blame, not me!"
