Chapter 940: Chapter 939: Extra 13 – The Wedding
The wedding has been scheduled.
Since Cheng Zhirang proposed, they have been living together as an engaged couple for almost a year, and they have adapted well to life together, with their temperaments and personalities somewhat adjusted to each other.
The parents of both parties sat together for a meal, finalizing the details of the wedding.
They set the date for getting the marriage certificate for early April, which is around the time they first met, and the wedding was set for May, when the temperature is around twenty degrees, pleasantly comfortable, just right.
The wedding is outdoors, held in the Half Mountain Villa District, and not many people are invited, apart from the families and friends from both sides, only a few well-acquainted celebrities from the entertainment circle, as well as some directors and producers.
The number of groomsmen and bridesmaids is quite large.
Zhao Yu specially took leave to fly back from abroad to be a bridesmaid along with Guan Yu, Shu Ran, and a cousin of Mu Qiu. The groomsmen included Li Yang, Shi Yuhuai, Jiang Lu, and Cheng Zhirang’s friend Jiang Kai.
Shen Zhousong sat below as a guest.
Both wedding outfits were custom-made, with the wedding dress designed as Mu Qiu had once described in a book—
From the abdomen upwards, adorned with small pearls and scattered diamonds to embroider a barely noticeable flower, a folded smooth semi-transparent veil wrapped around the chest, extending out like “petals.” The fluffy white skirt also shimmered with scattered diamonds, swaying to the ground.
No floor-length train, as she didn’t like the cumbersome feeling of it.
The veil is just a thin layer, lightly covering her head, faintly hiding the very striking makeup.
Cheng Zhirang’s suit was tailored to her requirements—
An always reliable white shirt with a black tie, a pocket square with locked blue edges in the jacket, and some accessories she personally chose and put on the shirt.
Welcoming his favorite one with the look she loves.
The day before, the two were separated, staying in different rooms, meeting only secretly, mainly because Cheng Zhirang couldn’t resist wanting to kiss his bride sooner.
Before the wedding began, there was a famous segment—hiding the shoes.
This is a part of a Chinese wedding, during which Mu Qiu was still wearing a traditional ceremonial outfit.
Initially, it was supposed to be a completely Chinese wedding, as she really wanted to wear a bright red traditional dress for the experience, so after Cheng Zhirang’s successful proposal, they custom-made a vibrant red handcrafted embroidery traditional dress, which took half a year to complete.
However, the luxurious high-end traditional dress, with all the gold, silver, jade, and such, made this wedding dress tremendously heavy. Cheng Zhirang worried she would be too tired and suggested switching to the wedding dress for the latter part.
She thought about it and found it interesting, having both a traditional Chinese wedding and a Western wedding, which seemed great.
Thus, the wedding turned out a bit mismatched.
Mu Qiu sat on the bed dozing off, watching Zhao Yu and Guan Yu excitedly searching for places to hide the wedding shoes.
“Zhao Yu, you’d better not think about stuffing my wedding shoes into the toilet trash bin. The shoe hiding is meant to add fun, not to delay the wedding.”
“Sister Guan Yu, no no no no no, definitely not, you can’t hide it in the clothes!”
“Mu Yin! Can’t you ask Sister Shu Ran for a signature later?!”
“…Forget it, if it doesn’t work, I’ll hide them myself.”
Luckily, there were elders present at the scene, and the wedding shoes were eventually hidden in a relatively safe but findable place.
Once the wedding shoes were hidden, Cheng Zhirang led the groomsmen group to the door outside.
Guan Yu got excited again; the four bridesmaids had set up a group chat overnight to discuss a very impressive plan to trouble the groom and groomsmen.
Mu Qiu felt like she was just a prop for them to openly implement these pranking schemes.
Guan Yu shouted out through the door: “The door is locked! Don’t think about coming in without passing the challenges! Now the first task, slip us some red envelopes as bribes!”
Li Yang’s screams could be heard from outside: “This process is wrong! How come you’re demanding red envelopes right away!? Even if we give them, you probably won’t open the door!”
Guan Yu: “You guessed it right! So, are you going to give us the red envelopes or not? Anyway, I’m not the one eager to marry the bride.”
Another round of laughter, chatter, and jeering came from outside, followed by a stack of red envelopes stuffed through the crack of the door.
Guan Yu happily collected the red envelopes, distributed them to the other three, then shouted: “Guess by feeling, this red envelope was handed over by Brother Huai, wasn’t it? Then Brother Huai must be the first to tackle the challenges!”
Zhao Yu cleared her throat and read the question aloud: “If Mu Qiu and Cheng Zhirang have a conflict or disagreement over something, how should this issue be resolved?”
A murmur from outside, then Shi Yuhuai, exasperated, said: “It’s all Brother Cheng’s fault, apologize first, then sit down to explain sincerely, reaching a mutual understanding… Can this really work? It’s just unreasonable mmm mmm mmm!”
Li Yang quickly covered his mouth, then Jiang Kai loudly reiterated: “Any conflicts or disagreements are just Cheng Zhirang’s unreasonable behavior, Mu Qiu must be right!”
Not knowing how Cheng Zhirang felt, but Mu Qiu couldn’t help but want to laugh.
Guan Yu: “Probably Brother Huai wanted to say this demand is unreasonable, but considering how even a straight big guy can say such words, we’ll reluctantly consider it passing. Next question—”
Shu Ran read aloud: “How is the financial authority managed after marriage? How is Brother Cheng’s pocket money distributed?”
Mu Qiu snorted a laugh.
The answer from outside came from Jiang Kai: “Cheng Zhirang says! The financial authority has long been handed over to Mu Qiu! He doesn’t need pocket money… okay, maybe give him some if needed!”
“Third question, if… hey, hey, hey! How come someone is climbing through the window now?! Brother Jiang Lu, Li Yang! You guys can’t do that!”
Li Yang opened the window, watching as everyone flooded over. He initially wanted to say a few words before jumping down, but Jiang Lu behind him gently pushed, and he fell into the female audience.
“No no no, no hands on! We’re doing this for Brother Cheng!”
Jiang Lu, dressed in a suit, crouched on the window sill, watching Li Yang being tormented, still smiling: “Just give them a little trouble, everyone, otherwise Cheng Zhirang will get impatient and kick the door down.”
Guan Yu snorted, pulling out a sheet full of notes from beneath Mu Qiu’s traditional dress: “Opening the door requires solving these post-door-opening challenges as well.”
Li Yang looked at the long paper resembling a supermarket receipt, giving them a thumbs-up with his mouth agape: “You guys are good, this is aiming for Brother Cheng’s life.”
Shu Ran: “And your lives too.”
The cousin Mu Yin opened the door, and a few outside people who had been waiting eagerly scratched at the door before rushing in.
Cheng Zhirang stood in the center holding a bouquet, watching Mu Qiu intently as soon as he entered.
His bride sat on the bed, smiling radiantly at him.
Then Guan Yu blocked the way, cutting off his view.
“Alright, Brother Cheng, your eyes are practically glued to her, but you haven’t successfully passed the challenges yet.”
Cheng Zhirang retracted his gaze, asking with a cheerful mood: “What other challenges do you have?”
Guan Yu beckoned to the bridesmaids: “Ladies! Bring the props!”
