After reviewing his stats, Lin Zhengran took out his phone. He was surprised by how quickly Jiang Jingshi had worked.

She had already had someone investigate and find the vice president’s recent general whereabouts.

Although Jiang Jingshi still didn’t understand what Lin Zhengran planned to do, she didn’t press for details. She simply trusted him.

Lin Zhengran memorized a few key locations. He knew the other party wouldn’t just let the two singers, who were crucial to their plan, sit at home.

Still, he had to check, just in case.

He considered taking a taxi, but since he was alone tonight, he decided there was no need to spend the money.

Lin Zhengran walked into a small alley and ran a hand over the wall.

Then, with little effort, he planted his feet on the opposing walls and swiftly scaled them, alternating sides until he reached the rooftop.

Standing on the roof, he gazed out at the city. Using the address for Pan Cheng Electronics on his phone as a guide, he treated the city’s rooftops as his personal springboard.

He sped off into the distance.

His figure shot through the darkness with impossible speed.

A little girl holding her mother’s hand on the sidewalk happened to glance up at the distant rooftops. Because of Lin Zhengran’s incredible speed and the dark of night, all she could see was what looked like a black shadow flashing across the sky.

She pointed into the distance. "Mama, look! A big black bird just flew over the rooftops!"

Her mother looked up curiously but saw nothing. "A big black bird? There aren’t any big birds in the city, sweetie. Just sparrows."

"Sparrows? Mama, what are sparrows?"

"They’re the little birds we usually see in the trees."

The little girl hummed in thought, her eyes still fixed on the now-empty rooftop. "Then it probably wasn’t a sparrow. It looked pretty big."

Her mother chuckled. "Maybe it was an airplane flying over. It’s dark out, after all."

"Maybe," the girl said. Neither of them gave it another thought.

Far away, Lin Zhengran continued to race across the city.

Following the list of locations from Jiang Jingshi, he first checked the two singers’ homes. As expected, they were empty.

’I’m not sure where they’ve hidden them,’ Lin Zhengran thought, ’but with Affinity for All Things, I can possess any skill in the world as long as I put my mind to it.’

He channeled the mindset of a detective, analyzing the situation and coming up with a few likely locations.

He began searching them one by one across the city.

Finally, upon reaching a product warehouse the vice president had visited twice in recent days, Lin Zhengran sensed that something was off.

The warehouse didn’t seem to have much cargo or traffic, yet he could hear the sounds of many people inside—laughing, drinking, and chatting.

It was as if they were guarding something.

Lin Zhengran melted into the shadows, staying out of sight as he concealed himself nearby.

He overheard some of them talking. "Is the boss being a little too cautious? Do we really need to be here guarding these two?"

"Ah, you know how the boss is. Always like this. Anyway, it’s an easy gig. Just gotta make sure we don’t lose them."

"Come on, come on, drink up!"

Lin Zhengran listened for a moment, a slight smile touching his lips. ’So much for movie-level security,’ he thought. ’Finding people is pretty simple when you have the right skills.’

He glanced at the photos Wang had provided and slipped into the warehouse.

He easily found where the two were being held. After peeking through a window to confirm, he knocked on the door.

The two men inside were still drinking and chatting when they heard the knock. The door had barely opened...

...before Lin Zhengran raised his fists and delivered a single punch to each of them.

The blows were perfectly measured to knock them unconscious. He pulled hoods over their heads, hoisted both men onto his shoulders, and made his escape.

’Still,’ he mused, ’since these two were brave enough to accuse the studio of plagiarism, Pan Cheng Electronics must have signed a contract with them. Otherwise, what would stop them from turning traitor? The company must have a way to keep them in line.’

With that in mind, Lin Zhengran made a special trip to the Pan Cheng Electronics Company building and found the contract inside the safe in the vice president’s office.

He took it with him.

It all went impossibly smoothly. As for how he opened the safe? Clearly, the vice president of Pan Cheng Electronics had never imagined someone would break into his office in the middle of the night, tear open his safe with their bare hands, and steal a document.

One could only say the vice president had been careless, far too lax with his security.
