I'm Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten
Chapter 160: The 3 Baffled People
Early the next morning.
Just as the sky was beginning to brighten, Liu Yong, the Vice General Manager of Pan Cheng Group, arrived at the company by car.
Liu Yong drove into the company complex, ignoring the workers. A security guard greeted him, “Good morning, President Liu!”
Liu Yong slowed his car to a brief stop. “Was everything all right at the company last night?”
The security guard reported, “No, President Liu. Nothing happened yesterday. Everything was normal.”
“Good.”
He parked in the parking garage, entered the group’s skyscraper, and took the elevator upstairs. Along the way, employees greeted him.
Arriving at his office on the seventh floor, he unlocked the door with his key.
He was humming a tune, about to sit down at his computer, when he suddenly noticed the door to his office safe had been forced open. The contracts inside were gone!
“Huh?”
Liu Yong stood there dumbfounded, his eyes wide. He even thought he was seeing things.
He rubbed his eyes, only then realizing that the safe had, in fact, been inexplicably broken into.
“What the hell is going on?!”
Meanwhile…
Lin Zhengran had taken another day off to see Jiang Jingshi.
In the warehouse of Jingshi Music…
Jiang Jingshi, Lin Zhengran, Wang, and the young celebrity were staring at two people standing inexplicably in the warehouse. These were the very two who had been poached by Pan Cheng Electronics and had turned around to falsely accuse the studio of copyright infringement.
Jiang Jingshi exchanged a glance with Wang, then with Lin Zhengran. “What’s going on? Why are they here?”
None of the three could answer.
But when Lin Zhengran and Jiang Jingshi had arrived at the music studio this morning, they had heard a noise from the warehouse. Upon entering, they found the two of them, and had immediately called Wang over.
Wang found it unbelievable. “This…”
The two people looked at Wang in terror. She asked them directly, “Why are you two here?”
The pair shook their heads. “We don’t know! We were knocked out last night, and when we woke up, we were locked in here!” Although they didn’t know how they got here, they knew they were traitors.
So they subconsciously assumed the other party had sent someone to kidnap them. Fear was written all over their faces.
“Wa… Wang, we know we wronged you on this, but you don’t have to do this. We were forced into it! We were short on cash, that’s why we signed the contract with Pan Cheng Company. We didn’t mean to accuse you of plagiarism. Please don’t hurt us.”
Hearing this, Wang suddenly flew into a rage.
“You two have the nerve to talk about plagiarism! You followed me for so many years. Even if you had left to work for someone else, I wouldn’t have cared. But to turn around and frame me for plagiarism? That’s just inhuman!”
One of them said,
“We’re sorry. We were really forced into it. If we had a choice, we wouldn’t have wanted to sue the studio. But Pan Cheng Company forced us to sign the contract. If we don’t sue the studio, we’ll have to pay a huge penalty for breach of contract. We had no other choice…”
As soon as they finished speaking, Jiang Jingshi noticed a file folder sitting on the floor behind them.
Jiang Jingshi asked curiously, “Hold on, what’s that behind you?”
The two of them grunted in confusion and turned to look. It was the first they’d noticed it, too.
Lin Zhengran picked it up, opened it, and discovered it was the original contract the two had signed with Pan Cheng Company.
Jiang Jingshi and Wang were also stunned when they saw it.
“Huh?”
Lin Zhengran remarked, “This is so bizarre. What on earth is going on?”
No one knew what was going on. Except for Lin Zhengran.
Wang’s young celebrity was the first to react.
“Wait, never mind why these two are here for a second. If we have them, and we have the contract, doesn’t that mean we don’t have to worry about paying the copyright fee anymore?”
The young celebrity was overjoyed. “We can quickly sign a new contract with them now! Wouldn’t that solve our biggest problem?”
Blinking, Wang realized it too. “That’s right. If we have the people and the document… the most troublesome copyright issue is solved just like that. As for the indecent assault allegation…”
Jiang Jingshi chimed in,
“If it’s just the indecent assault charge, that’s simple. Before they post anything online, you two can make an official announcement on social media that you’re in a consensual relationship. Just go public. That way, even if they buy web traffic, they can’t frame you for assault. After all, this issue by itself isn’t hard to handle. We were only worried because we were afraid they would use both schemes at once. That’s what made it so troublesome.”
The two of them nodded.
Lin Zhengran reminded them, “Then you two should make the announcement on your own platforms now, before the other party posts those two videos to stir up drama.” He looked at the two traitors. “And get the copyright contract signed with these two. Then the whole matter will be perfectly resolved.”
‘Although Wang didn’t know what had happened, she was certain that supernatural events didn’t exist. Therefore, the appearance of these two must have been the work of President Jiang… only a big boss like her could pull something like this off.’
She smiled. “Thank you, President Jiang. We’ll get on it right away. Thank you for helping us, President Jiang!” She made a point of saying it twice.
Wang looked at the two bound men. “If you two are short on money, I can give you a sum. But we’re rewriting the copyright contract.”
Having been caught, the two had no other objections. They nodded. “Okay, okay. We’ll sign, we’ll sign.”
Without wasting any more time, Wang immediately got busy, working nonstop on the public announcement and the contract.
Watching the two of them bustle about, Jiang Jingshi suddenly let out a laugh. She walked over to Lin Zhengran and asked in a low voice,
“So, Zhengran, what’s going on? Is this place haunted? How did this all get resolved so easily and inexplicably?”
Lin Zhengran put on a baffled expression, as if he had no idea what had happened.
He chuckled. “Who knows what’s really going on? This is the first time I’ve ever seen something so absurd.”
‘If handling this situation the normal way hadn’t been such a drawn-out mess that would have ended with either Wang in trouble or Jiang Jingshi footing the bill and doing all the work, Lin Zhengran wouldn’t have been forced to take matters into his own hands.’
‘After all, his personal intervention was a complete deus ex machina in the real world. Who would ever suspect that someone in real life was practicing Cultivation?’
‘At that moment, Jiang Jingshi was also scrutinizing Lin Zhengran. Though she didn’t know what had really happened, she had a gut feeling… that Lin Zhengran was behind it. She just couldn’t figure out how he had done it.’
‘She was becoming more and more curious about Lin Zhengran.’
Thinking this, Jiang Jingshi smiled. “In any case, the problem is solved.”
Lin Zhengran glanced at her and gave a helpless smile. “You’re right. As long as it’s solved.”
