Chapter 167: Chapter 146: The Little Fox’s Envisioned Future Responsibilities
In the parking area of a park, families and couples could be seen enjoying themselves.
Despite her wealthy background, Jiang Jingshi enjoyed spending time alone in places like this whenever she had a free moment.
She sat in her car with her legs crossed, gazing absently at the park scenery. As she zoned out, she glanced down and saw a reply from Lin Zhengran:
"I think the earrings in the second picture would look better. While you have a gentle demeanor, Jiang, this cooler style would actually suit you more. But that’s just by comparison—they both look great overall."
Jiang Jingshi’s red lips curved into a smile after reading the message.
Her expression softened as she murmured to herself, ’So he thinks I’d look better in the cooler earrings, does he?’
She was about to type something back to Lin Zhengran.
Just then, a message from a Jiang Group employee suddenly popped up on her phone.
It was about a difficult client the sales department had yet to successfully secure a deal with. Jiang Jingshi messaged back, "Send someone else to try again."
After sending the message, a thought suddenly struck Jiang Jingshi.
’If Zhengran is an expert in so many different fields, I wonder if he has a talent for business too?’
’If he does... I could totally outsource the Jiang Group’s marketing to a company that Zhengran and I start together.’
’That would save me from having to juggle two things at once. It’s so much work, and sometimes I end up doing the same tasks twice.’
She blinked. ’Then again, if that were true, Zhengran would be good at practically everything. It’s almost unbelievable... I’ll have to test him next time we meet.’
Her eyes fell back on Lin Zhengran’s message. ’As for the cooler style... From now on, I’ll dress to his tastes... I bet it will look lovely.’
「Inside Han Wenwen’s rental apartment.」
Lin Zhengran was leaning against the headboard while the jealous Little Fox, Han Wenwen, lay draped across his lap, her legs curled up.
The Little Fox was lightly scratching his stomach with her nails.
Lin Zhengran stroked her head with one hand while scrolling through his phone with the other. He Qing and Jiang Xueli had also messaged him, and he had to reply to them all.
Han Wenwen glanced up at Lin Zhengran occasionally. "Are you still not done replying to them?"
Lin Zhengran hummed in acknowledgment. "Almost. We’re just exchanging a few words."
Hearing he wasn’t done, Han Wenwen let out a little, displeased whine from her throat and closed her eyes, focusing on the feeling of Lin Zhengran stroking her hair.
She was like a small animal basking in its owner’s affection.
"First, there was that whole unclear situation with whatever ’sister’ that was, and now Qingqing and Lili are popping up... It never ends."
"What wasn’t clear? Didn’t I say everything that needed to be said?"
Han Wenwen’s voice was complaining, yet laced with a flirtatious tone:
"Oh, please. When a girl asks a guy which piece of jewelry looks better, it can only be one of two things: she’s fishing, or she likes him. But fishing? Is there any girl out there who could successfully ’fish’ you, Zhengran? That girl would have to be a master. I’d want to be her apprentice. So it’s a no-brainer—she definitely likes you."
As she spoke, Han Wenwen pressed her face against Lin Zhengran’s chest, trying to burrow deeper into her ’master’s’ embrace.
"Then again, it’s only normal for girls to like you, Zhengran. It’s just a matter of whether you want to accept them or not."
With that, she nuzzled her head against his stomach.
Lin Zhengran looked at her. "What are you doing?"
Han Wenwen opened those bewitching fox eyes of hers. "Stop talking to them~ Pay attention to me and have a proper conversation."
Lin Zhengran sighed in exasperation. "Haven’t I been with you this whole time?" He sent off his last few replies.
He put down his phone. "There, all done. What was it you wanted to talk about so ’properly’?"
Han Wenwen looked up at Lin Zhengran.
Lin Zhengran looked down at Han Wenwen.
The two of them, four eyes in total, stared right at each other.
They could even see their own reflections in each other’s pupils.
After a long moment of silent staring, a blush slowly crept up Han Wenwen’s face. Unable to hold back a shy smile, she looked away. "Why are you looking at me like that, Zhengran? You’re making me blush."
"Didn’t you say you wanted to have a ’proper’ chat? I was waiting for you to start a topic," he said, confused.
Han Wenwen huffed. "Who cares about topics? I just don’t want you talking to other people, Zhengran. Even if we’re just sitting here in silence, I don’t like you chatting with other girls—especially not when you’re supposed to be spending time alone with me."
After speaking, she noticed Lin Zhengran’s toenails and leaned over for a closer look. "Let me trim your nails, Zhengran. They don’t look very neat."
"What does a guy need neat nails for? Besides, they’re not even long. I just trimmed them the week before last."
"Who trimmed them?"
"Me, of course."
Han Wenwen turned back to Lin Zhengran, her tone suddenly solemn and righteous. "From now on, you’re not allowed to trim your own nails, Zhengran. Only Wenwen is allowed to do that for you. I’ll go get the clippers."
She got out of bed, found the nail clippers, and climbed back onto the bed.
Before starting on his nails, she looked up at Lin Zhengran. "Keep stroking my head. If you stop, Zhengran, how am I supposed to concentrate on trimming your nails?"
"How am I supposed to stroke your head while you’re trimming my nails? You’re too far away."
"Just bend your knees, Zhengran. Then you’ll be able to reach my head."
Lin Zhengran was truly at a loss. He had no choice but to reach out his hand again. He’d never seen a girl so addicted to having her head stroked. ’A fox is a fox, after all,’ he mused.
But the moment his hand touched her head, Han Wenwen’s expression did seem to calm instantly.
She diligently trimmed Lin Zhengran’s toenails, having also prepared wet wipes for cleaning up afterward. She had everything ready for a proper pedicure.
While attending to these little tasks, Han Wenwen finally remembered something important. "Oh, right, Zhengran. There’s something I’ve been wanting to discuss with you."
"What is it?"
She continued to trim his nails, her movements exceptionally meticulous and gentle.
"It’s about the future. When you become the head of the family, Zhengran, with so many girlfriends, we’ll need to divide up the responsibilities, right? Otherwise, it’ll be chaos with everyone fighting over every little thing."
She glanced back with a smile. "So, how about I assign everyone their duties today? Because Wenwen is very good at observing people’s habits. I know what everyone is best at, so it will be totally fair."
Lin Zhengran let her talk. It was his day off, after all.
Han Wenwen finished one foot and moved on to the other.
"Let’s start with Qingqing. Qingqing has a steady personality and doesn’t like being in the limelight. Once we all graduate and start working, I imagine that aside from occasionally competing in taekwondo,
she’ll inevitably spend most of her time at home, taking care of your daily needs, Zhengran. Things like arranging furniture, deciding what new things to buy for the house, all those little domestic details—Qingqing should be in charge of all that. What do you think?"
Lin Zhengran nodded. "That’s a pretty accurate description of He Qing. She’s very thrifty and skilled at managing a home."
Han Wenwen shot him a triumphant glance, as if to say, ’See how amazing I am?’ She grabbed a pen and paper from the side and handed them to Lin Zhengran. "Write it down! Quick, write it down! This will be the arrangement when we all live together!"
Lin Zhengran jotted down what Han Wenwen had said.
Once she finished with both his feet, Han Wenwen started on his fingernails.
She even switched to a different pair of clippers, then sat on Lin Zhengran’s lap.
She sat in a W-sit, with her legs tucked on either side of her.
Facing him, she held out her hand for his.
Lin Zhengran extended his left hand, and Han Wenwen continued trimming his nails.
As she worked, she continued, "Next is Lili. Lili is pretty active. At first, I thought she was just a classic tsundere, but she’s more than that—like an evolved version. How about we put her in charge of entertaining and educating the children?"
Lin Zhengran had to suppress a laugh. "Putting aside how far off that is, taking care of children is no easy task."
Han Wenwen explained:
"I know. That’s why I’m not saying she should be in charge of everything. I’m just saying Lili should have the final say when it comes to their education. Because, even though I’m so good to you, Zhengran, I can actually be a little strict with kids.
Qingqing, on the other hand, is too gentle; she’d definitely spoil them. Lili is just right. She can be firm when she’s angry, but she’s also gentle and fun to be around. She’s much more suited for it than either of us.
So, in the future, if we all have little ones with you, Zhengran, we’ll each take care of our own baby day-to-day, but when it comes to their education, we’ll follow Lili’s lead. How does that sound?"
Lin Zhengran smiled and nodded. "Mm."
Han Wenwen finished with that hand, had Lin Zhengran write it down, and then started on his last hand.
"And finally, me. Wenwen is the best and most dedicated when it comes to just one thing: taking care of you, Zhengran. From now on, how about I handle all the personal little things, like helping you change, trimming your nails, giving you massages, even washing your hair and brushing your teeth?"
She peeked at Lin Zhengran with her foxy eyes.
Lin Zhengran met her gaze, and they both burst out laughing.
Lin Zhengran asked curiously, "So, I don’t have to do anything at all, then?"
Han Wenwen finished with his fingers, interlocked her own with his, and looked at him up close. "Of course not these little things. But you, Zhengran, have to handle all the big decisions for the family. You’re the head of the household, after all~ You’re our rock."
