I'm Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten
Chapter 168 - 147: Preparing for Bed
Chapter 168: Chapter 147: Preparing for Bed
Somehow, the entire afternoon flew by, and the sky slowly began to darken.
That afternoon, Han Wenwen had even taken a shower.
When she came out, the room was filled with a lovely fragrance—the scent of the Little Fox herself.
During dinner, Lin Zhengran called his parents to check in.
He asked if anything was going on at home that week.
His mom, Lin Xiaoli, was usually the one to answer the phone. "Hello, Ranran? Nothing’s going on here. How are things at school? Do you miss Mom and Dad?"
Although Lin Zhengran was back in town for the week, he had told his parents he was staying at the dorms.
His parents definitely wouldn’t have approved if they knew he was spending the night with Han Wenwen; they’d be worried something might happen.
Lin Zhengran said, "School’s the same as always. Good to know nothing’s up. As for whether I miss you... Yeah, I do. A lot."
Even his simple "I miss you" made Lin Xiaoli blush. She marveled at how different her son’s personality was; he could so bluntly say things that would make other people embarrassed.
"Mommy misses you too. You know, Ranran, ever since you started high school, you’ve gone half a month at a time without coming home."
"Isn’t that how it is for everyone in high school? Besides, I’ve really been busy lately, and it’s easier to study at school. I’d definitely be home if I weren’t so busy."
He glanced at Han Wenwen, who was leaning against his shoulder. Even while eating, the Little Fox couldn’t sit still, insisting on clinging to him.
Lin Xiaoli said, "So, Ranran, are you coming home next week? We’re going to have a guest if you do."
"Yeah, I’ll definitely be back next week. But a guest? Who?"
On the other end of the line, Lin Xiaoli exchanged a look with her husband. They both smiled. ’What other guest could it be,’ they thought, ’but his childhood fiancée...’
Lin Xiaoli waved her hand awkwardly, though he couldn’t see. "Oh, it’s nothing, it’s nothing. You’ll find out when you get here, Ranran. Do you want to say a few words to your dear father?"
"Yeah, sure. I haven’t heard his voice at all."
Lin Yingjun cleared his throat. "I’ve been listening the whole time."
Right after he said that, Lin Xiaoli suddenly laughed. "Your dad’s busy with something. He has work from the office."
They chatted for a few more moments, and then Lin Xiaoli said, "Well, if there’s nothing else, we should hang up. You get back to your business, Ranran."
Lin Zhengran hummed in agreement. "Okay. Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad."
After hanging up, Lin Zhengran took a few more bites. As he got up to wash his hands, he asked, "By the way, Wenwen, did you get my comforter?"
"Of course I did!" she replied. She then got up, darted in front of Lin Zhengran to wash her hands first, and then pulled a large box out from under the bed.
She pulled a brand-new cotton comforter out from it.
"Ta-da!"
The comforter had no pattern—it was solid blue—but the material looked to be of excellent quality. Han Wenwen had clearly spent a good amount of money on it.
The Little Fox carefully spread the comforter out on the bed.
But when she was done, she looked a little puzzled. "It felt so high-end and luxurious in the department store. How come it looks so plain and ordinary now that it’s in my rental room?"
Lin Zhengran came out after washing his hands and saw the two comforters lying on what was clearly a single bed.
He commented, "It’s the surroundings. This is just a single room, and with all the stuff you already have on your bed, it just looks a little crowded."
Lin Zhengran observed that the Little Fox’s single bed was much larger than the one in his study at home.
At first glance, it almost looked like a small double bed.
"Good thing this ’single’ bed of yours is so big, though. It’s almost a double. Otherwise, there’s no way we’d both fit. Speaking of which, how much did this comforter cost? It wasn’t cheap, was it?"
Han Wenwen cupped her hand to her mouth and whispered the price in Lin Zhengran’s ear.
Lin Zhengran was impressed. "Wow, you really splurged. I bet your own comforter isn’t this expensive, is it?"
"How could they be the same? When Wenwen buys something for Zhengran, it has to be the best! Besides, a comforter isn’t just some disposable thing. After Zhengran uses it... I can use it, too." Her words were full of innuendo.
Han Wenwen looped her arm through Lin Zhengran’s, her voice turning sultry. "So, shall we go to sleep now? The bed is all ready."
"Now?" Lin Zhengran pulled out his phone to check the time. "It’s only six-thirty."
Han Wenwen had her own little scheme brewing. Her sly, fox-like eyes roamed down and then back up, finally settling on his.
"We don’t have anything else to do tonight anyway. We came home so early, and we’ve finished everything we needed to do. Wouldn’t it be nice to soak our feet and lie down together? Right, Zhengran?"
Lin Zhengran had no idea what she was plotting, but he had to admit, lying down to rest a bit early sounded pretty good.
Han Wenwen went to find the foot basin excitedly. "I’ll go get the water! Zhengran, you can just wait on the bed!"
"Then I’ll just brush my teeth first," Lin Zhengran said.
But to his surprise, Han Wenwen stopped him. "No, no! Don’t brush your teeth, Zhengran. I’ll do it for you! Just you wait."
Lin Zhengran was puzzled, his mind flashing back to their conversation in bed that afternoon.
"Are you serious, Wenwen? How are you going to brush my teeth for me?"
Han Wenwen placed the foot basin on the floor, filled it with hot water, and set it aside to cool. "Of course I’m serious! And what makes you think I can’t brush your teeth for you, Zhengran? I’ve studied up on it, you know."
"You’ve studied up on it?"
"I learned how online, specifically for this. You’ll see once you try it, Zhengran."
Han Wenwen walked over to Lin Zhengran’s side, grabbing a new toothbrush from a cabinet. Then, she picked up her own.
She dangled them in front of him—one blue, one red. "Which one do you want to use, Zhengran? The blue one on the left is new, and the red one on the right is mine."
’Lin Zhengran was surprised to see that, aside from the color, the two toothbrushes were identical...’
’Girls really are mysterious creatures.’
’A guy’s toothbrush always ends up with frayed bristles after a while.’
