Chapter 577 - 572: Chu Xinghun’s Strength
Chapter 577: Chapter 572: Chu Xinghun’s Strength
After repelling Li Shaoyou, Ning Jiang didn’t give chase. For one, his opponent was fast. For another, their conflict hadn’t reached the point of a life-or-death struggle.
’I wonder what I’ll find inside?’
Putting his thoughts aside, Ning Jiang looked at the stone door in the wall.
He placed his palm on it and pushed hard. The heavy stone door slowly creaked open.
It was a stone chamber, completely empty. There was nothing inside.
Seeing this, Ning Jiang frowned. He had fought Li Shaoyou only to find an empty room. If Li Shaoyou knew, he’d probably regret having fought a pointless battle.
’Perhaps there was something here before, but someone must have already taken it.’
Ning Jiang shook his head. The Myriad Treasures Exquisite Tower opened once every ten years, and a large number of Martial Artists entered each time. Even if this stone chamber had once held a Treasure, someone had likely beaten him to it long ago.
Without lingering, he left the room.
Over the next hour, Ning Jiang discovered two more rooms, but they were also completely empty.
...
"Damn it! How is that Ning Jiang so strong? I used my Leg Technique at full power, and he shattered it with a single punch."
Li Shaoyou walked through the maze, his expression dark.
BANG.
He slammed a fist into the wall, his face etched with frustration.
As a fellow prodigy of the Hidden Dragon List, he refused to believe that a newcomer like Ning Jiang could be stronger than him, but the reality of his defeat was a crushing blow.
"Who’s there?"
Suddenly, Li Shaoyou sensed an approaching aura. He looked over and saw a man with an eerily handsome appearance walking toward him.
’I’ve never seen this person before.’ Li Shaoyou searched his memories but came up empty. However, anyone who could reach this fifth floor was certainly not weak.
"I heard you mention Ning Jiang just now. Perfect. I’m looking for him as well. Where is he? Take me to him," the man said. His voice was androgynous, neither male nor female.
Li Shaoyou was quite displeased by this tone. The eerily handsome man was ordering him around as if he were a subordinate. As a prodigy of the Hidden Dragon List, how could he tolerate such disrespect?
"Who the hell do you think you are, talking to me like that? Get lost, or I won’t mind teaching you a lesson."
Still fuming from his defeat at Ning Jiang’s hands, Li Shaoyou was holding in a bellyful of anger and didn’t hold back in the slightest.
"You won’t tell me?"
A dangerous curve formed on the eerily handsome man’s lips as his eyes snapped open.
In that instant, Li Shaoyou felt a boundless darkness surge from the man’s body and rush to engulf him.
’Not good! Those eyes!’
Li Shaoyou was horrified, realizing there was something wrong with those eyes.
But it was too late. The boundless darkness devoured him, and he felt his Primordial Spirit beginning to drift away. This was a Primordial Spirit Attack, and Li Shaoyou’s Primordial Spirit was clearly not strong enough to resist it.
A moment later, Li Shaoyou’s body collapsed to the ground, devoid of all life.
A prodigy of the Hidden Dragon List had fallen.
"Too weak. Is this the strength of the Hidden Dragon List? What a disappointment. I hope that Ning Jiang can at least give me some entertainment." The eerily handsome man shook his head in disappointment and walked away.
...
In another room, two figures faced each other in a standoff.
One was a woman in flowing robes, her face one of breathtaking beauty—it was none other than Gu Huaying. The other was a handsome young man in a brocade robe, his eyes as bright as stars.
"Gu Huaying, hand over what you’ve found. I’m taking it," the young man said. He stood with his hands clasped behind his back, and though his tone was flat, it carried an undeniable authority.
"Chu Xinghun, this is just an empty room. There’s nothing here. If that’s all, please step aside," Gu Huaying said with a frown.
"An empty room? I don’t believe you. Hand over your Storage Ring and let me inspect it to see if you’re telling the truth." Chu Xinghun stood his ground, showing no intention of moving.
"Chu Xinghun, it seems you’re deliberately trying to cause trouble for me." A cold light flashed in Gu Huaying’s beautiful eyes. By now, how could she not see that Chu Xinghun was clearly just looking for a fight?
She more or less understood her predicament. With the Celestial Treasure King no longer backing her and the Chaos Alliance offering a high bounty for her capture, Chu Xinghun likely had designs on that reward.
"Gu Huaying, I don’t like to strike women. You’d best not force my hand," Chu Xinghun’s voice grew cold.
"Chu Xinghun, don’t think I’m afraid of you just because people call you one of the two titans of the Hidden Dragon List. Enough useless talk. Let’s fight!" Gu Huaying let out a clear cry and struck first.
The instant she moved, she activated the Five-Colored Divine Flower within her. Countless petals danced through the air, each one as sharp as the blade of a Divine Weapon, surging toward Chu Xinghun in a torrential wave.
She held nothing back from her very first move.
Her opponent was Chu Xinghun, hailed as one of the two titans of the Hidden Dragon List and arguably one of its two strongest members.
Rumors from as far back as two years ago claimed that Chu Xinghun had fought one of the Ten Great Earth Martial Realms to a draw.
Now, two years later, his strength must have improved even further, making him all the more terrifying. Against such a formidable foe, Gu Huaying dared not be the least bit complacent.
"You’re overestimating yourself."
Chu Xinghun snorted coldly.
Although his opponent was a peerless beauty, he had no intention of showing mercy. He extended a finger, which began to glow with a piercing light.
"Star Pointing Finger."
SHING!
A beam of starlight shot out and blasted toward the incoming petals, punching a large hole straight through their center. The sheer power of the attack made Gu Huaying’s lovely face turn grim.
’I’m no match for him. I have to focus on breaking away!’
Gu Huaying recognized the gap in their strength and knew a direct confrontation would be foolish.
SWOOSH.
Her delicate figure blurred as she tried to retreat.
"Trying to run from me?" Chu Xinghun snorted. With one hand still clasped behind his back, he continuously pointed with the index finger of his other hand. With each motion, a beam of starlight shot forth.
The beams of starlight were menacingly powerful, like miniature stars shooting through the air. Gu Huaying didn’t dare let them touch her, constantly manipulating her petals to block them.
"Let’s see how long you can keep this up."
Chu Xinghun brought his other hand forward as well. Attacking with both hands, he fired off dozens, even hundreds of starlight beams that filled the entire corridor with their brilliant light.
Instantly, the pressure on Gu Huaying increased dramatically, and her face began to pale.
Given the strength Chu Xinghun was displaying, she feared that even the Ten Great Earth Martial Realms might not be his match.
"Tsk, tsk. That Chu Xinghun is terrifyingly strong." Far in the distance, someone was observing from the shadows. It was Lin Jue, another prodigy from the Hidden Dragon List. He had been drawn here by the sounds of battle.
’Now’s a good opportunity.’
Lin Jue clutched a Flying Blade in his hand. He considered launching a sneak attack on Chu Xinghun. If he could eliminate him here, it would mean one less powerful rival to worry about.
After a moment, however, he stayed his hand. His intuition screamed that Chu Xinghun was extremely dangerous.
He chose to leave.
After Lin Jue had gone, Chu Xinghun snorted inwardly. ’I was waiting for you to make a move. I didn’t think you’d be able to resist. Count yourself lucky.’
