Immortal Sword Master
Chapter 612: The Rules Disappear
Ferocious Sword Qi blotted out the sky. The entire space was filled with tiny, densely packed Sword Auras, visible to the naked eye and seemingly without end.
At the center of this Sword Array stood Ning Jiang, his sleeves fluttering, his bearing peerless.
“What a terrifying Sword Array.”
The White-robed Swordsman’s face was pale. For the first time, his heart was filled with such terror. Before this Sword Array, he felt as insignificant as an ant.
Even his own sword was faintly stirring, threatening to slip from his control and fly out to join the Sword Array.
‘If I could follow and learn from him, my Swordsmanship would surely advance by leaps and bounds.’
At that moment, an absurd thought took root in the White-robed Swordsman’s mind: he wanted to follow Ning Jiang and learn from him.
To others, this might seem unthinkable. He was much older than Ning Jiang and, by all rights, should have been considered his senior.
‘He may be younger than me, but his mastery of Swordsmanship is far beyond mine. If I want to improve, I must cast aside my preconceptions about age and humbly seek his guidance,’ the White-robed Swordsman thought.
In the pursuit of knowledge, age is irrelevant; the master is whoever is most skilled.
At this moment, the members of the two great powers facing the Myriad Swords Array all had ashen faces. They could clearly feel that their lives were under grave threat.
If such a Sword Array were to be fully unleashed, they would very likely perish here!
“Ning Jiang, I advise you to stop now,” Bai Wuxue said coldly. “Otherwise, if you anger us, the consequences will be more than you can bear.”
“When your Other Shore was in the Meteor Sea Region, you sent assassins to kill me. Then you issued a Bounty List with my name on it. It’s time we settled this score,” Ning Jiang said, his every word laced with ice.
An eye for an eye—that had always been his principle.
As for the Chaos Alliance, it was an even clearer case. The Flood Dragon King was bent on killing him, harboring a deep and bitter hatred.
“Myriad Swords Array—kill!”
SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH!
In an instant, the swords rained down.
A full thousand Spirit Swords transformed into sharp beams of light and descended upon the members of the two powers. All at once, the sky seemed to darken.
“We have to fall back!”
The other Martial Artists cried out in alarm, having already retreated to a safe distance, terrified of being caught in the crossfire.
“This Ning Jiang is insane! To challenge the Kings of two major powers all by himself? This is a fight to the death!”
“Even if he didn’t, the two powers would never have let him go. Instead of waiting for them to come after him, it’s better to seize the initiative and kill as many as he can.”
Everyone was awestruck by Ning Jiang’s audacity.
The thousand swords instantly enveloped the forces of the two powers. Blood splattered in the very first moment. The Kings themselves were unharmed, but the men they had brought with them lacked their formidable strength, and many were wounded in the first wave of the attack.
And that was only the first thousand swords. Everyone knew the next wave would be even more ferocious!
“Not bad. No one’s fallen yet. Then let’s add another thousand!”
Ning Jiang’s gaze was frigid. In the void around him, another thousand swords hummed to life and shot forth. The power of two thousand Spirit Swords attacking in unison wasn’t a simple addition; it was multiplied several times over.
The swords fell like rain, and from each blade, streams of Sword Qi branched off, a continuous torrent that gave no one a moment’s respite.
Even if one sword was knocked away, another would immediately take its place.
“AHH!”
Someone screamed in agony, unable to fend off the attack, and was decapitated on the spot.
Even the Kings felt the pressure multiply. A few among them had poor Luck and were instantly wounded, their bodies marked with sword gashes.
‘Damn it! This Sword Array’s power is no joke, and the Sword Qi is endless. If this goes on, even our lives will be in danger,’ the Flood Dragon King thought, a sense of dread welling within him.
Bai Wuxue roared again and again in fury. He was an Eight-Stars King, yet he was being suppressed by a mere junior. How could he tolerate such a thing?
Not even Golden Cicada in the past had infuriated him this much.
“Three thousand.”
Just then, Ning Jiang directed the final thousand swords to join the assault.
It was a shocking sight. Each sword streaked through the void like a beam of light. From a distance, it resembled a dense, meteoric Sword Rain.
Even from far away, the crowd of Martial Artists could feel its world-shaking power.
With three thousand swords erupting at once, the experts brought by the two powers began to fall rapidly. Some had their bodies shredded to dust by the Sword Qi, their Primordial Spirits annihilated by the ferocious onslaught before they could even escape.
Even those as strong as the Kings found their lives in danger. Some lost limbs, while the more wretched among them were sliced in two, only their Primordial Spirits left to struggle for survival.
“Are we destined to die here?” one of the Kings roared.
For dignified Celestial Martial Realm Kings to fall at the hands of a mere Earth Martial Realm junior would be the ultimate humiliation.
“Ah! Vice Sect Leader Bai, save me!”
Suddenly, a blood-curdling scream rang out.
An Other Shore King, whose body had long since been torn apart by the Sword Qi, had his Primordial Spirit exposed to the storm of blades. At first, he managed to resist, but as time wore on, he could no longer hold on alone. His defenses were shattered by several swords, and his Primordial Spirit was grievously wounded.
If he hadn’t been a King, an ordinary person’s Primordial Spirit would have been obliterated long ago.
“You bastard!”
Bai Wuxue saw this and let out a furious roar. He struck out in mid-air, blasting away the countless incoming swords. Then, with a great sweep of his hand, he shielded the King’s Primordial Spirit.
SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH.
Even more swords shot toward him.
He knew that if this continued, he would eventually be worn down and killed.
“This Sword Array… It’s truly heaven-shaking and earth-shattering.”
Countless Martial Artists gasped, terrified by the power of the Sword Array. What they didn’t know was that Ning Jiang felt a pang of regret. ‘What a pity. Even with the Myriad Treasures Exquisite Tower, I could only find a little over three thousand swords. It’s not a complete Myriad Swords Array after all.’
‘The complete Myriad Swords Array requires ten thousand swords. Only then would it unleash its true, ultimate power.’
‘In my past life, the Myriad Swords Sect used this very array to slay untold numbers of the Demon Race. Ten thousand swords moving as one were utterly unstoppable, cutting down any god or buddha that stood in their way. Even the well-trained armies of the Demon Race were utterly routed, forced to cast off their armor and flee in disarray.’
‘If this were the complete Myriad Swords Array, it could have annihilated the forces of both powers in a single instant.’
Of course, with his current Cultivation, Ning Jiang couldn’t have activated the complete Myriad Swords Array anyway. That would only be a possibility after he entered the Celestial Martial Realm, at the very least.
“I implore you, Lord Eastern Demon, please act!”
At this, Bai Wuxue let out a long, piercing cry.
RUMBLE…
Just as when Xuanyuan Bi’an had appeared, the seawater below suddenly parted, revealing the Bottomless Abyss that lay beneath. The Abyss was pitch-black, roiling with Demonic Qi, and nothing could be seen within its depths.
CLANK! CRACKLE!
The only sound that could be heard was the clash of chains from within, a noise that shook the very heavens and earth.
BUZZ!
Suddenly, a ripple, visible to the naked eye, emanated from the Abyss and swept across the land. No one was harmed as it passed.
Yet everyone felt it—the Power of Rules that had been suppressing their Realms had suddenly vanished!
“HAHAHAHA! My Cultivation is restored! Ning Jiang, prepare to die!”
Bai Wuxue roared with laughter, his head thrown back. He thrust out his hand, and a colossal, sky-blotting palm descended upon Ning Jiang.
