Chapter 65: The Wondrous Uses of the Divine Attendant Pill
Chapter 65: Chapter 65: The Wondrous Uses of the Divine Attendant Pill
Returning to his room, Fang Xu immediately took out the letter.
South Witch had been certain that this letter could help him resolve his current crisis, so he was deeply curious about its contents.
Taking a piece of paper from the envelope, Fang Xu unfolded it. His expression instantly turned somewhat peculiar.
The letter in his hand was actually written by the Wu Family Ancestor, Wuhuan, to South Witch. The contents shockingly revealed Wuhuan disclosing Fang Xu and Li Xun’s movements to South Witch, expressing a desire to cooperate and bury both of them in Tilan Mountain.
"This old man is truly insane!" Fang Xu couldn’t help but exclaim as he folded the letter.
He had long heard of Wuhuan’s ruthlessness and had guessed that the man would resort to desperate measures after the deaths of his children. However, Fang Xu never expected Wuhuan to be mad enough to ally with South Witch to kill him alongside Li Xun.
Li Xun was the Crown Prince of the dynasty, the proud son of heaven of the royal family, and the disciple of Human Slaughter Zhao Wuji. If this matter were exposed...
"I can’t rush this!" he thought. "I absolutely cannot rush this matter!"
He had been captured by the witches right in front of Li Xun. If he were to return to Fenglin Town completely unharmed and bring this letter to Li Xun, the Crown Prince might just kill him along with the Wu Family Ancestor! He had to find a way to dispel Li Xun’s suspicions before handing over the letter.
Thinking of this, Fang Xu couldn’t help but let out a heavy sigh.
To prevent Li Xun from doubting him, his only option was to use the ruse of self-injury again, and this time, he couldn’t half-ass it like before. After all, falling into the hands of the witches and barely escaping with his life was plausible enough, but if he only sustained minor injuries, it would definitely raise suspicions.
How could he make Li Xun believe that he had risked his life to escape?
Frowning deeply, Fang Xu pondered this question when he suddenly sensed a faint mental fluctuation from the little cuties transformed by the Divine Attendant Pill, which were clinging to his internal organs.
"Hmm?"
Sinking his consciousness into his body, he found the little cuties enveloping his organs becoming even more active. From their mental fluctuations, Fang Xu vaguely sensed a hint of inquiry, as if they were asking for his permission.
Slightly confused, Fang Xu transmitted a message through his consciousness. "What do you want to do?"
After the group of little cuties squirmed on his internal organs for a moment, Fang Xu suddenly felt a portion of his Blood Qi Power being sucked away! He hadn’t consumed any Qi Blood Pills or even eaten any Blood Food. This missing Blood Qi Power was entirely from his own body.
After absorbing a small portion of his Qi Blood Power, the little cuties sent another inquiring mental fluctuation. Fang Xu vaguely understood their intention and immediately issued a command through his consciousness.
"Absorb as much as you want, as long as you don’t damage my Martial Dao foundation or leave any hidden dangers!"
With his approval, the little cuties formed by the Divine Attendant Pill instantly sprang into action! As a massive amount of Qi Blood Power was drained away, Fang Xu immediately felt dizzy and his vision blurred. The flesh on his palms and his entire body shriveled at a visible rate!
"Stop, stop, stop!"
Feeling that he might actually drop dead if they continued absorbing, he hurriedly halted the little cuties.
With his Qi and blood no longer draining, he endured waves of weakness and leaned against the desk to reach the bronze mirror in the room. Looking at his emaciated reflection that seemed to be on death’s door, Fang Xu smiled.
This was perfect! Meeting Li Xun in this state and presenting Wuhuan’s letter to South Witch shouldn’t raise any issues.
Inside his body, Fang Xu could feel that the Qi Blood Power absorbed by the Divine Attendant Pill had not been digested. This meant that whenever he needed it, they could return the Qi Blood Power to him at a moment’s notice.
Lu Zhiyuan had once mentioned that the Divine Attendant Pill had many marvelous uses that required slow exploration. From the looks of it, this ability to store Qi Blood Power was likely one of them.
Highly satisfied with his current appearance, Fang Xu stumbled to the kitchen, scooped up some gore from the Blood Food, and smeared it on himself. He messed up his hair and clothes until he looked thoroughly disheveled before hurrying toward the Government Office.
Li Xun and Xu Liang must have immediately returned to Fenglin Town after escaping the trap set by South Witch. After all, with hundreds of Golden Scale Guards stationed there, the town was relatively safer.
Fang Xu staggered forward, looking as if he might collapse at any second. He wasn’t entirely faking it; because a massive amount of Qi Blood Power had been drained, he was genuinely so weak he could barely stand.
"Who goes there!?"
The moment Fang Xu approached the Government Office, the Golden Scale Guards stationed at the entrance immediately looked over in tension.
Since Li Xun had been ambushed in the mountains and all his accompanying Golden Scale Guards had died in battle, the guards at the Government Office were terrified that the witches would recklessly slaughter their way into Fenglin Town. They were extremely vigilant at the slightest sign of trouble.
"It’s me... Fang Xu..." he croaked. "Quickly report to the Crown Prince. I... I have important intel!"
"Fang Xu!?" The two Golden Scale Guards were astonished by his ghastly, demon-like appearance. They hurriedly supported him and brought him into the courtyard of the Government Office.
Upon receiving the report, Li Xun rushed over immediately. He didn’t seem to have sustained any serious injuries.
"You made it back alive?" Li Xun frowned slightly when he saw Fang Xu.
"Crown Prince..." Fang Xu forced his swaying body upright and offered a weak bow, then smiled bitterly. "This lowly one... I’m afraid I don’t have long to live."
Li Xun frowned as he examined him and shook his head slightly. "With your Qi and blood nearly entirely sucked dry, it’s a miracle you managed to keep your life. You said just now that you have important intel?"
Li Xun didn’t care much whether Fang Xu lived or died; he was merely curious about what kind of intel Fang Xu had brought back after luckily escaping the witches.
"Please take a look, Crown Prince..." Trembling, Fang Xu took the letter out from his chest.
A Golden Scale Guard standing nearby took the letter, inspected it cautiously, and then handed it to Li Xun.
Taking the letter, Li Xun tore it open and read it. A flash of fury instantly crossed his face!
"Good! Very good!" he roared. "A pathetic little clan like the Wu Family—a bunch of useless trash—actually dared to secretly collude with the witches to plot against me!
"Jin Xiao! Gather our men immediately and follow me to wipe them out!"
Ever since arriving in Fenglin Town, Li Xun had faced repeated setbacks. The day before, he had fallen into the witches’ trap, resulting in the tragic deaths of dozens of his accompanying Golden Scale Guards and nearly losing his own life!
The accumulated fury from these unpleasant events had long turned Li Xun into a ferocious beast ready to devour anyone in his path. Now, learning that the insignificant Wu Family had dared to scheme against him with the witches, how could he possibly hold back?
"Crown Prince!" Hearing this, Jin Xiao hurriedly cupped his hands, leaned in, and lowered his voice. "The Wu Family has ties with the Ascension Association."
The Ascension Association was famous for fiercely protecting its own. The fact that Steward Xu had personally sent someone over for a mere Registered Disciple was enough to prove how much he valued that past favor.
At the mention of the Ascension Association, Li Xun’s expression instantly turned grim.
Emperor Yu had repeatedly warned them not to provoke the Ascension Association. Otherwise, even if they were killed, the royal family would not step forward to avenge them. From these words, it was clear that even someone as powerful as Emperor Yu was deeply wary of the Ascension Association.
"Investigate them!" Li Xun ordered. "I refuse to believe that a single life-saving favor holds that much weight!"
Li Xun was unwilling to let this go! Being walked all over by a petty local thug in Fenglin Town was an absolute humiliation for a royal Crown Prince!
He had to eradicate the Wu Family! As long as the Ascension Association showed even the slightest compromise, he could always compensate them with treasures and wealth when the time came.
