Chapter 1768: Chapter 1068: Blood Pond, Blood Gate

A hoof pressed down on a human head as it lowered its skull, jaws clamping onto the man’s belly… a tearing rip, and the belly, guts and all, were wrenched out, clenched in its mouth; with a flick of its jaw the slick intestines all dropped into its maw to be shredded…

But when it lifted its head to swallow, the area beneath its neck was fully exposed.

So much wild grass, so long—and five stalks suddenly morphed, streaking out in afterimages as they shot from the clump; one man flung both hands, toxic gas pouring from his palms, two attacked from range, one with a bow, one with spell, and two more closed in for melee—shields up! Zhen, attack!

Every strike locked onto its neck…

In just the first exchange they had its weakest spot pinned—poison miasma numbing it, arrows and spells all hammering its neck…

In no time the Desolate Beast crashed to the ground, like a boss knocked over by a party.

“Fuck, we finally pulled it off! This Stone Mare Beast is finally down! We’re rich!”

A thin little shorty couldn’t wait and hopped over beside the Stone Mare Beast to celebrate; the people nearby had just opened their mouths to warn him about something when, suddenly…

Boom!

The shorty was struck by a sudden ball of flame; his chest exploded open, scorched red-black, and in an instant he was nothing but a charred corpse.

“Shorty!”

A young man shouted, only to see several figures burst up from underground, streaking toward the group in a killing rush!

The enemy was clearly far stronger than them, pressing them down with sheer power; four of them were wounded in short order, and looked about to be slaughtered…

Earthbind!

Vines whipped up from beneath the soil, wrapping around the ambushers; in a blink they pierced through two skulls, and the four wounded seized the chance to swallow pills to replenish qi and blood, then launched a fierce counterattack, reversing the pressure in an instant—however…

Gulp.

One man’s head was swallowed; then the serpent’s lower jaw gaped wider, and his upper and lower body were gulped down whole.

“Shit, it’s a Forest Serpent!”

The Starfield Level Forest Serpent devoured four or five people in just a couple snaps, not caring which side they were on—in its eyes they were all prey. No one could stand against it; eight or nine people died in the blink of an eye…

Only two managed to dive into the wild grass and flee in panic…

Suddenly, the swishing sound of the Forest Serpent climbing through the grass behind them vanished, and that thick rancid stench was gone as well.

The two glanced back on instinct, and saw that massive python already lying there, silent and motionless. Through the wild grass they could faintly make out a white-robed man flickering past above its head.

Only his hair streamed and floated as he moved.

The two crawled low for a while before cautiously going back, discovering that there wasn’t a single piece missing from the Forest Serpent’s body. Looking again toward the original battlefield, all the corpses were still there…

One of the two was a woman, bold and decisive; she’d been the one to suggest coming back to see what had happened. Now she eyed the bodies, took out a small rectangular red Blood Stele— was engraved as her name, and beneath it a number: fifteen.

“Ali, how come none of these people’s Soul Energy or the Forest Serpent’s Soul Energy has been taken… it’s all still here. We’re loaded!”

They’d almost died just now, and in the next instant they’d hit the jackpot. The young man was overjoyed, but Tang Li frowned. “This person killed the Forest Serpent but didn’t absorb its Soul Energy, and didn’t absorb any of these people’s Soul Energy either. There’s only one possibility… she doesn’t have a Blood Stele… she’s not one of our Outer Domain Battlefield people. Or she’s a new arrival…”

A newly arrived Star Domain powerhouse?

Tang Li fell into thought.

Meanwhile, Sui Yi back at the institute had already heard the two talking.

Blood Stele, huh? Most likely the tools these Outer Domain Battlefield soldiers use to record their battle achievements, then use them to verify at the Blood Refining Stele…

If you want Bloodline Beads, naturally you need achievements; and naturally you need a Blood Stele…

Ten miles away, Sui Yi’s Magnetic Sensation spread across the surface; Tang Li suddenly felt a chill in her skull, but when she snapped back to herself she noticed nothing.

“Yellow Sand Land, Blood Pond, huh?”

The Outer Domain Battlefield was huge. Sui Yi flipped open the booklet; it held a rough map. The battlefield was divided into many big sectors—Yellow Sand Land, Azure Cloud Skies, Black Pond Water, Red Maple Forest and so on. These regions were separated by one boundary strip after another, these belts marked in red lines by Xing Yuanye, which meant they were extremely dangerous—ambush zones for combat, and among the bloodiest places. Beyond these blocks lay the territory borders connected to other races’ domains… the most lethal areas of all.

In Tang Li’s memories the Blood Pond was the rookie zone that all newly arrived Outer Domain Battlefield personnel had to pass through; every newcomer had to go to the Blood Pond…

Only the new have hot blood, coming in with vigor and life; clashes are frequent, more flamboyant, so the Blood Pond is packed and lively. From far away Sui Yi could already see the Blood Pond, but there was a strange blood-qi coiling around it. Without using Magnetic Sensation he couldn’t determine exactly what was inside, and lest his Magnetic Sensation trigger some unknown powerhouse within, Sui Yi didn’t extend it. His gaze swept the ground outside and he saw many Teleportation Arrays, as well as Airships and flying boats landing. One powerhouse after another flew down, heading toward the Blood Pond, but at The Gate out front they all had to line up, apparently to register something.
