Chapter 311: Chapter 311: Shadows in the Royal Box

The gong echoed across the arena, signaling the end of the morning session.

Grand Marshal Vane raised his hand. "One hour intermission. All competitors return to their designated pavilions."

The crowd began to disperse, vendors calling out from their stalls, disciples stretching their limbs, elders gathering in clusters to discuss the morning’s matches.

Damon watched the royal box.

King Aurelius Solaris rose from his throne. He exchanged a glance with Vane, then turned and walked through the gilded doors behind the royal dais.

Vane followed.

The doors closed.

Damon’s eyes narrowed.

The high floating palace hung above the arena, suspended by ancient formation scripts that hummed with golden light.

King Aurelius stood at the window, his back to the room, his hands clasped behind him.

Vane entered and knelt on one knee.

"Rise."

Vane stood.

The King did not turn. "The Azure Dragon Sect."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Tell me what you saw."

Vane paused. "The girl, Ariel Aquaria. She use a bloodline during the match. Ancient. Powerful. I cannot identify its origin."

King Aurelius’s fingers tightened. "And the boy?"

"Damon Arcknight."

"Yes."

Vane’s voice dropped. "He is concealing at least two realms of his cultivation. Possibly more."

The King turned.

His eyes were cold, calculating.

"Can you see through his mask?"

"No." Vane shook his head.

"Whatever method he uses, it is beyond my perception. But his control is perfect. I watched him during the entire match. He did not leak a single thread of Qi beyond what he intended to show."

King Aurelius walked to the table. He picked up a jade cup, turning it in his hands.

"And the disciple called Lark?"

Vane’s expression flickered. "There is something wrong with that one. The disguise is flawless. But the energy beneath it..."

"Speak."

"It feels familiar, Your Majesty."

King Aurelius set the cup down.

"Familiar how?"

Vane met his gaze. "Like a Solaris."

Silence stretched between them.

King Aurelius looked out the window again, toward the arena below, toward the Azure Dragon dugout where a disguised princess sat among strangers.

"Keep watching them," he said.

"All of them."

In the Azure Dragon dugout, Damon felt the system ping.

He opened the notification, his golden eyes scanning the words that materialized before him.

[Anomalous Bloodline Detected in Arena — Target: Kael]

His brows drew together slightly as he continued reading.

[Warning: The origin of this bloodline is not of the Mortal Heaven realms.]

[Classification: Unknown]

[Threat Level: High]

[Recommendation: Gather intelligence before engagement.]

Damon’s jaw tightened, a muscle twitching in his cheek. His gaze remained fixed on the text, but his mind had already begun racing through possibilities.

’Not of the Mortal Heaven realms.’

The words echoed in his thoughts, carrying implications that reached far beyond this arena, beyond this kingdom, beyond the very continent he stood on.

If this bloodline originated from higher realms then Kael was not just a rival. He was a messenger from worlds Damon had only begun to glimpse.

His fingers curled slightly against his palm.

’That means Kael came from somewhere higher. Somewhere beyond the continent. Beyond the world I know.’

He closed the notification.

His face remained impassive, a mask of calm composure that revealed nothing to the women surrounding him or the prying eyes that might still be watching.

But inside, his mind was already turning, calculating, planning.

A bloodline from beyond the Mortal Heaven realms. T

hat was not an accident. That was a thread leading somewhere dangerous.

Somewhere that could either accelerate his rise or end it before it truly began.

He would need to be careful.

He would need to be smart.

And he would need to find out exactly what Kael was before their next encounter.

That meant Kael came from somewhere higher. Somewhere beyond the continent. Beyond the world he knew.

He closed the notification.

He didn’t show anything on his face.

But inside, his mind was already turning, calculating, planning.

The private dugout pavilion was a small enclosed space behind the main seating area, shielded by a privacy formation that blocked sound and spiritual sense.

Inside, the atmosphere was warm.

Mio had already claimed Damon’s lap, her legs draped over his thighs, her head resting against his chest.

"Feed me," she said, opening her mouth.

Damon picked up a piece of dried spirit fruit and placed it on her tongue.

She chewed happily, pressing closer.

Ariel sat beside them, sipping tea, her eyes still carrying the faint silver glow from her bloodline awakening.

Mia leaned against Damon’s shoulder, her eyes half-closed, her hand resting on his thigh.

Seraphina meditated in the corner, the Azure Dragon Bloodline cycling through her meridians.

Flare stood near the entrance, her hand on the Inferno Phoenix Blade, her eyes fixed on the arena where Fania had stood.

She was still waiting.

Alena walked through the group, pressing a small golden pill into each woman’s hand.

"Nutrient pills," she said.

"Replenish your Qi. The afternoon matches will be harder."

She stopped in front of Damon.

She held out a pill.

Damon took it. "You made these?"

"Last night." Alena’s cheeks flushed slightly. "While you were... occupied."

Mio laughed. "Occupied. That’s a polite way to say it."

Alena’s blush deepened.

Damon swallowed the pill. Warmth spread through his chest, steady and clean.

"Good work," he said.

Alena’s blush turned crimson.

She turned away quickly, hiding her smile.

The gong rang.

The crowd fell silent.

Grand Marshal Vane’s voice boomed across the arena.

"Afternoon session begins."

"Match Seven: The Nameless Sect versus The Stone Heart Sect."

Damon stood.

Mio slid off his lap.

The group moved toward the arena’s edge, their eyes fixed on the two teams entering from opposite sides.

The Stone Heart Sect marched in first—seven men in grey stone armor, their steps heavy, their auras solid and unyielding.

Then the Nameless Sect entered.

Kael walked at the front.

His robes were plain, unmarked. His face was calm, expressionless.

He didn’t look at the crowd.

He didn’t look at his opponents.

He looked at Damon.

And he smiled.

It was not a friendly smile.

Damon’s hand moved to the Chaos Devourer.

The match began.
