Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 469: Central Base Reminder, Weather Cloud Effect
Chapter 469: Chapter 469: Central Base Reminder, Weather Cloud Effect
Attention all survivors! Attention all survivors!
The Extreme Temperature Disaster has officially begun!
Surface temperatures are rising rapidly. Within the next 24 hours, the peak temperature is expected to exceed seventy degrees Celsius!
All non-combat personnel are prohibited from leaving underground areas!
All surface operations must be approved and require full protective gear!
Repeating—the Extreme Temperature Disaster is here. All personnel, please prepare for heatstroke prevention and cooling measures!
The broadcast looped over and over, its tone serious and absolute.
Seraphina Sullivan looked outside the RV.
There was no sun.
To be precise, the sky still held that gloomy, grayish color unique to the apocalypse.
But a suffocating, searing pressure hung in the air.
"Has it already started?"
She murmured to herself, then stepped out of the RV.
Perhaps because the RV had been upgraded, the temperature inside was so pleasant that she hadn’t really noticed the heat outside.
Sean Chandler and Flora Sullivan followed behind her.
The moment her feet touched the ground, Seraphina Sullivan knew something was wrong.
The air was scalding.
It wasn’t the kind of heat from direct sunlight. Instead, the entire environment was slowly and evenly heating up, as if they were trapped inside a giant, invisible oven.
Her exhaled breath was hot, and the air she inhaled burned her nose and throat. Her exposed skin stung.
The weeds on the ground were already starting to turn yellow and curl up.
A nearby puddle was evaporating at a visible rate, white steam rising only to be scattered by the waves of heat.
The most incredible part was the herd of Four Seasons Deer.
Before they entered the instance, the deer had been in their thick-furred, stocky Winter Form, adapted to the extreme cold.
But now, when Seraphina Sullivan looked over, they had completely changed their appearance.
Their once-heavy coats had become short and sparse, clinging to their bodies. They were now a vibrant, verdant green—so green it was almost jarring, like fresh spring grass.
Their bodies seemed to have shrunk slightly, and their movements were more nimble. They were huddled in twos and threes under the pitiful sliver of shade at the edge of the enclosure, panting with their tongues out.
"Summer Form," Flora Sullivan said as she ran over and patted the head of a nearby Four Seasons Deer. The deer docilely lowered its head, its green fur glowing faintly. "They can adjust on their own. That’s amazing!"
Seraphina Sullivan stood at the RV’s entrance, feeling the increasingly oppressive waves of heat. She glanced at her specially upgraded RV, still as cool as spring inside, and silently took stock.
The Extreme Temperature Disaster...
The days ahead were not going to be easy.
But at least she had the RV, the Four Seasons Deer, Sean Chandler, and Flora.
And a pile of unopened rewards she had just brought back from the instance.
"Let’s go, back inside," she said, waving them over. "Standing out in this weather for too long will give you heatstroke. We can talk inside."
The three of them turned and went back into the refreshingly cool RV.
The door closed, sealing them off from the rapidly heating world outside.
"The temperature is rising. It looks like the new disaster on Azure Star is about to officially begin."
Seraphina Sullivan stood by the RV door, watching the increasingly distorted heat waves outside, and sighed softly.
She had just gotten out of the instance and hadn’t even had a chance to catch her breath before the real world’s disaster seamlessly took over.
This was the rhythm of the apocalypse.
It never gave you a chance to breathe.
She suddenly remembered the item she had just acquired—the Weather Cloud.
"I almost forgot about this thing."
With a thought, she retrieved the fluffy, soft white cloud from her personal Space.
It floated silently above Seraphina Sullivan’s palm. It felt like the finest cotton, light and airy, with a faint rainbow-colored glow at its edges. It looked completely harmless, even a little cute.
Flora Sullivan came closer and poked it. "Whoa, it’s soft! Like cotton candy! I wanna eat it!"
"You can’t eat this. I’ll make you some cotton candy later."
Seraphina Sullivan swatted her hand away, exasperated.
Flora Sullivan stuck out her tongue, but her spirits lifted when she heard there would be cotton candy later.
Seraphina Sullivan focused her thoughts.
She opened the door and directed the cloud to float slowly into the air.
The Weather Cloud obediently rose into the air, finally hovering about ten meters above the RV like a white, fuzzy chandelier, where it stopped, perfectly still.
"What kind of weather should I choose?" Seraphina Sullivan mused, propping her chin on her hand as she looked up at the cloud, which was ready for her command.
Flora Sullivan immediately raised her hand as if to answer a question. "Something that’ll cool things down, of course! It’s so hot outside. How about... snow?"
Her eyes sparkled, clearly still captivated by the shock and awe of the giant ice moth, Komora, from the monster apocalypse.
An Ability that could freeze an entire city, while terrifying, would definitely be enough to cool things down.
Seraphina Sullivan thought for a moment, then nodded. "Let’s try it."
She focused her thoughts again.
[Weather Cloud—Ability Activated—Weather Selection: Heavy Snow.]
The moment the command was issued, the lazy white cloud above them trembled slightly.
The next second, the cloud began to change.
The pillow-sized, cotton-candy-like white cloud began to spin, slowly expanding until it covered the entire RV. A faint, ice-blue halo appeared at its edges, and countless tiny ice crystals seemed to be forming and colliding within.
Then, snowflakes began to fall.
It wasn’t a heavy blizzard, but a fine, light powder that drifted down in a ten-meter radius around the RV.
The snowflakes made a faint SIZZLE as they landed on the scorching ground, instantly melting into water that was then evaporated into white steam by the high temperature.
But in this process of melting and evaporating, a large amount of heat was absorbed, and the surrounding temperature dropped noticeably by several degrees.
The first to feel the change were the Four Seasons Deer.
They had been hiding in the pitiful sliver of shade at the edge of the enclosure, panting from the heat with their tongues hanging out.
When the snow began to fall, a few pairs of ears perked up first, then noses twitched, and then entire bodies reacted.
The lead deer hesitantly took a step forward, tentatively poking its head into the snowy area, and then—the entire deer froze in place.
Coolness.
It let out a joyful, low bleat and trotted forward on light hooves, the first to dash into the curtain of snow around the RV, where it lay down comfortably.
Seeing this, the rest of the Four Seasons Deer immediately followed in a swarm.
Soon, a dozen or so of the large, green-furred creatures had surrounded the RV completely. Some were lying down, some were standing, and a few even pressed their heads against the side of the RV, nuzzling the faint coolness seeping from the air conditioning system.
The snow continued to fall.
Although every snowflake melted the instant it hit the ground, the constant stream of snow relentlessly absorbed the heat, forcefully carving out a cool oasis in the middle of the Extreme Temperature Disaster.
