Clouds gathered in the crimson sky, lightning flashed, streaking the stormy sight, as thunder rumbled down.

The ground beneath was quaking, as Uriel, Lucas and Dorian faced plus-sized, four-eyed monkeys.

Getting trashed so brutally, they could barely spare the attention to be concerned about the safety of the division soldiers.

Their attentions were fully occupied, but with the unfair advantage these beasts had, beating them would be a very arduous challenge.

Uriel, in his full battle form, wielding his class abilities to their fullest as he equipped the Cavalry Knight pack that the system had given him.

From the battle mount, Astral Steed, to the class requirements and the full battle armour and weapon set.

Uriel’s armour sparkled with the brilliance of the starry skies.

The Astral Steed beneath him was galloping around the forest, circling their foe.

In Uriel’s hand was a lance, empowered as a powerful monarch grade weapon.

The genetic skill crystal the pack came with was called Astral Charge.

A skill meant to endow its user with boundless speed and force, so the lance could be mobilized to its fullest.

Crushing its way through all opponents, Uriel’s focus sharpened as the hulking monkey silhouette before him began to fade and blend into the surroundings.

This was the unfair advantage these monkey beasts had on them, their stealth abilities were on a whole other level.

That and their ridiculous damage-dealing ability made them extremely dangerous foes.

One moment they are standing before you, the next, you’re stressing your eyes in order to catch the faintest trail of their silhouette.

And these sneaky vicious beasts knew how to charge at their prey without making a single noise or leaving a trail in their path.

Uriel’s head turned to observe his surroundings, his eyes squinting as his frame tore through the wind, his Astral Steed galloping steadily.

Lightning cackled around Uriel’s frame, thick bolts of supercharged plasma tearing through the atmosphere around him.

While at that very instant behind him, the wind stirred into a spiral of storm as a thick silver furred arm whipped into existence.

The lethal lash, tearing through the lightning coating, cast a whole shadow over Uriel and his steed right before it landed.

The immense force sent cracks riddling through his bones, his organs rupturing with blood.

His frame almost flattened on impact before being catapulted out of sight.

The mount was flying uncontrollably towards a direction parallel to Uriel.

The sky churned in response, as the sky ruler’s essence grew more dense and descended onto Uriel in greater intensity.

Around him lightning crackled as the crumpled armour on his frame slowly cracked and popped back into place.

Uriel coughed up blood, his palm opening wide as his Celestial Nova Asteroid Lance hummed and was pulled from the distance into his palm.

Uriel stared ahead, his eyes flickering with a renewed glow. ’Finally, this is just the simulation I need,’ he confirmed.

Among all five members of team apex only three had genetic lineages, and of those three Uriel was the only one to have still not unlocked a second innate gene skill.

And today it seemed he was finally getting there. The whites of his eyes beneath the helm had already turned red.

As his mind slowly fell into a still frequency, a mode most call the zone.

Others call it the flow, but Uriel just knew it to be the moment of his epiphany.

The defiled beast drummed its fist upon its chest, its frame fading into space, as it charged a rolling punch.

Its fangs bared as a silver current welled in its claws, ready to mark Uriel with a venomous gnash.

Uriel’s mind sharpened brilliantly, he silently devoured the knowledge being fed to him by his lineage.

A path untested, a path that pushed on the extreme of speed.

Embodying the concept of the speed of light, pushing on the limits of both laws and concepts.

Around him sparkling current grew into a grey sheen, his eyes losing their brilliant electric blue sparkle.

And going completely grey, around him the storm raged even harder, the clouds growing dark, as a fast-approaching claw streaked through the air.

The sharp, ivory, flashing claws of the defiled were about a hair’s breadth away from digging into his face when suddenly Uriel’s body twitched.

[Congratulations! Your comprehension shines through the origin!]

[You have awakened the gene skill: Void overdrive.]

His body buzzed, turning into blur, as the defiled claw tore through nothing but an after image.

The defiled snarled, all four of its eyes narrowing down on Uriel’s fading silhouette.

In the distance a blurry streak of grey flashed, and the monkey whipped its head towards the direction of its prey’s mount.

The beast showed signs of complex intelligence, as it predicted that Uriel should go for the mount first.

But unfortunately it was wrong, a cluster of current sparked in the atmosphere in the distance.

The chaotic plasma current formed the silhouette of a lance-wielding knight.

The defiled’s hair bristled, sensing the danger instantly, it bared its fangs, as its frame slowly dissolved into the surroundings.

In the distance, Uriel could feel the overwhelming flow of power running through him, he gained access to a whole new layer of attributes superior to his base stats.

His eyes locking down on the faint silhouette in the distance painted by heat, the defiled beast couldn’t dream of hiding from him.

Uriel felt worried as he realized these beasts were way stronger than what should be possible for a boss or mini boss.

Meaning these were defilers. Uriel recalled his last encounter with a defiled pretty well.

And even though it was back when he was in the shackled realm, the defiled he was currently facing was also awakened.

This was his only chance to prove himself, last time he couldn’t even last for a full round against one, this time he had to destroy it to rebuild his confidence.

Flipping his crackling lance and cocking it towards the beast’s frame outlined by heat, grey sparks danced in the air as Uriel’s frame burst forward at a speed that was well beyond the sonic level.

Leaving trails of burning smoke in the wind, as a lance bathed in torrent flows of grey lightning, tearing down with the determination to smite.
