Infinite Nightmares

Chapter 235: Qianxi

  • Next Chapter

Seeing Zhang Wenda turn to leave, Qianxi naturally wasn’t about to just stand by and watch.

Just as she was about to control the giant mouse cursor to give chase, a massive figure leaped out of the sea and clung tightly to the cursor. "Kid! Go, quick! Leave this bastard to us!"

It was Aunt Flo, the one in the red dress with hairy legs. But Aunt Flo, who was originally only two or three meters tall, had now grown to a height of seven or eight meters, like a small giant several stories high.

When Zhang Wenda saw Song Jianguo standing in the ice cream shop, he finally understood why. Song Jianguo was in the shop, shoveling down spoonfuls of ice cream with a pained expression, huffing out cold air as she ate.

"Ah! So cold! Haaa~ So cold! So what they say on TV is actually true—eating ice cream really does make Aunt Flo bigger! You learn something new every day!"

With every bite she took, Aunt Flo’s body swelled, her strength grew, and she was able to hold back Qianxi with sheer brute force.

"I love you!"

With the combined help of Song Jianguo and Aunt Flo, Zhang Wenda quickly escaped Qianxi’s pursuit. He dove like a fish into the building filled with pre-made people.

As the red was once again spread out, the buildings of pre-made people began to collapse one after another, the destruction spreading outwards like a contagion.

However, in that brief moment, Aunt Flo’s situation had become dire. With a swift slice from the mouse cursor, her body was instantly cut into several pieces.

Just as the pieces of Aunt Flo’s body began to writhe, attempting to re-inflate with the help of Song Jianguo’s ice cream, the mouse cursor clicked "delete" a few times. Instantly, Aunt Flo vanished completely.

Qianxi didn’t pursue Zhang Wenda. Instead, she came to stand before Song Jianguo, looking down at her in the ice cream shop. "You..."

But just as she was about to say something with great interest, she felt the ground begin to tremble violently. When she turned her head to look, she saw a colossal wave, as high as a mountain peak, rising from the sea in the distance.

It was a tidal wave formed from countless pre-made people stacked together. It was quitting time.

In Thought Wave No. 6, the pre-made people’s desire to get off work was nearly unstoppable. Even Qianxi, with her current gigantic body, seemed as insignificant as an ant before this "quitting time" tidal wave.

At this moment, the others noticed it too. Out on the water, Wang Xiaohua watched the wave grow ever higher and wider, her eyes filled with deep fear.

Disregarding her own safety, she shouted at Song Jianguo in the ice cream shop, "Run! That’s the most terrifying disaster of Thought Wave No. 6! The evening rush hour is coming!!"

But it was too late to run. The tidal wave crashed down on everyone present like an avalanche.

Even Qianxi’s constant deleting was useless. The sky-high waves came one after another. The moment the evening rush hour arrived, the number of clocking-out pre-made people was practically infinite.

In the end, even the powerful Qianxi was completely overwhelmed by the evening rush hour that Zhang Wenda had triggered. Swept away along with her was Zhang Wenda, who had been charging toward her screen.

Qianxi and Zhang Wenda were both engulfed by the tidal wave.

The others, unable to help, could only watch in horror.

This evening rush hour lasted for a very, very long time, only subsiding after 9:00 PM.

As the great wave gradually subsided, receding like the tide, Qianxi’s massive, twisted body lay limply on the ground.

As Wang Xiaohua and an armor-clad Song Jianguo cautiously approached, they saw Qianxi’s enormous screen suddenly shatter. A battered and bruised Zhang Wenda climbed out from within.

He ignored the others’ attempts to help him up and stared at Qianxi’s corpse on the ground, his expression one of disbelief. ’Did I succeed? Did I get my revenge?!’

But then, he felt something was wrong. This didn’t seem like the Qianxi he knew. It couldn’t be this simple.

"No, you didn’t." A familiar voice sounded from behind Zhang Wenda. Everyone turned to see Tan Yougen and a group from Bureau 507 surrounding the area. Ouyang Shuangdian was among them.

Tan Yougen took out a flashlight and shone it on the massive corpse before stating calmly, "This is just one of Qianxi’s shortcuts. If her main body were here, things wouldn’t have ended so easily."

Zhang Wenda listened to him, looking at him in surprise. The important thing now wasn’t whether Qianxi was dead, but how Tan Yougen had gotten here. "What are you guys doing here?"

The white-haired Tan Yougen glanced at him. "Didn’t you say we never do any work? Well, now you see us working."

"So what work are you doing?" Zhang Wenda asked, looking at the people behind him.

Tan Yougen spoke as calmly as if he were discussing household chores. "We threw you out as bait, hoping to catch a big fish. It’s a shame Qianxi didn’t take the bait."

"It seems you’re not that important to her. She only sent a shortcut."

He said it as if he were casually asking what’s for dinner.

Hearing this, Zhang Wenda was so angry he almost laughed. He pointed a finger at the shameless old bastard, but the words on the tip of his tongue never came out.

"So you were here all along? You had people following this whole time? You knew from the start that Qianxi might come after me, didn’t you?"

Faced with this accusation, Tan Yougen was completely unabashed. "Yes."

Hearing this, Zhang Wenda nodded and lowered his finger. "Fine. Okay. Now that’s the black-hearted old fox I know. If you hadn’t done this, you wouldn’t be Tan Yougen. I knew you were up to no good!"

"Thinking about it, your plan must have started from the very beginning, when you had me join the Security Department, right?"

Tan Yougen didn’t answer the question directly. Instead, he looked at Zhang Wenda. "I’ve already paid you. You don’t actually think that training in a Thought Wave Ability, and even having a Thought Wave Strong Person to mentor you, is the kind of treatment everyone gets, do you?"

"Besides, you’re not getting that 120,000 a month for nothing. You can hate me all you want, but you get paid to do a job. It’s as simple as that."

Tan Yougen took two steps back, watching as the cleanup crew began cordoning off the area and taking pictures, collecting as much intel from the battlefield as possible.

Zhang Wenda took two steps forward, stopping in front of Tan Yougen and looming over him.

At that moment, the 2.5-meter-tall monster Zhang Wenda was extremely intimidating. The blood on his sharp scythe hadn’t even dried.

Just as Ouyang Shuangdian was about to step forward, Tan Yougen stopped her.

Completely engulfed in Zhang Wenda’s shadow, Tan Yougen looked up at the monster before him. "Something I can help you with?"

Under everyone’s gaze, Zhang Wenda spoke. "Fine. I agree to join your plan!"
