Infinite Nightmares
Chapter 234: New Ability
THUMP-THUMP, THUMP-THUMP. Zhang Wenda’s heart pounded violently. He watched as all the prefabricated people across the plain stopped working, their numbers growing and spreading out into the distance.
He watched as a trace of hostility toward Qianxi began to form in all their hearts, a hostility that grew ever stronger.
Zhang Wenda could even feel their emotions. Something was making them deeply uncomfortable. Their ultimate response should be to resist, not just to earn money for a better meal.
Without the red, they never had such a choice. But now, under Zhang Wenda’s influence, they did. All the prefabricated people began to advance and, at Zhang Wenda’s lead, they surrounded Qianxi.
"Heh heh." But faced with such a threat, Qianxi just chuckled. He shrugged, completely unafraid, as a large smiley face popped up on his computer screen.
The prefabricated people clenched their fists and charged at Qianxi. They were numerous, but they were nothing in the face of Qianxi.
With a few quick clicks of a mouse, all the prefabricated people were instantly frozen in place. The imposing crisis was defused in an instant.
"Is that it? This is your choice? You think you can take me on with these prefabricated people? Aren’t you being a little delusional?" Qianxi stared at Zhang Wenda as if he were an idiot.
However, facing the exceptionally powerful Qianxi, Zhang Wenda glared back fearlessly, the rage in his heart only burning hotter.
"Is that so? I don’t think so!"
As Zhang Wenda slowly spread his sharp, scythe-like hands, the red in his heart radiated outward once more. This time, his targets were the prefabricated people neatly arranged to form the floor and the walls.
Under the influence of the red, the prefabricated people acting as the floor and walls stopped persisting in their work, no longer content to be objectified. The ground and walls began to crumble, and the entire building started to teeter on the verge of collapse.
"Qianxi, I don’t know where your Ideological Tide came from, but it’s finished now!"
As Zhang Wenda roared this at Qianxi, the entire building collapsed. Everyone present was instantly buried under the sea of people that fell from the sky.
The enclosed environment was shattered in that instant. Zhang Wenda had already charged with incredible speed toward a crack in the wall.
He burst out just before the building of people completely collapsed, landing on a thought-cluster high above the sea of people.
As he moved, Zhang Wenda realized that the moment he grasped the red, he had become faster and stronger. His entire body felt as if it had been completely reborn.
Although he was outside, he knew he hadn’t left the other’s Ideological Tide. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to hover in mid-air by standing on thoughts.
As Zhang Wenda quickly glanced left and right, his body suddenly twisted to one side, trying to dodge a danger from behind.
But he was a step too slow. A mouse cursor, sharp as a dagger, pierced straight through his chest.
Just like that, his broken body fell limply through the air toward the sea of people below.
Qianxi’s computer-like body gradually materialized in the air nearby, its expression full of regret as it watched Zhang Wenda fall.
"What a shame. I never thought you’d make such a foolish choice. Because of this choice, you’ll never get that method to bring your uncle back."
Just moments after Zhang Wenda hit the surface, a tiny wound appeared on the chest of every single prefabricated person. He then shot up from the depths like a red afterimage, completely unharmed, and charged toward Qianxi on a path of thought-clusters.
"I’ll fucking kill you! And that method will still be mine!"
Just as Zhang Wenda’s scythe was about to strike Qianxi, Qianxi quickly moved to click on him with the mouse cursor, intending to select ’delete’.
But in that instant, Zhang Wenda unhesitatingly whipped out the Obsidian Dagger and plunged it into his own chest.
As Kopan’s Gaze descended once more, all the rules of the Ideological Tide were nullified. With no obstacles remaining, his body slammed violently into Qianxi. A sound of shattering glass rang out as his scythe smashed straight into Qianxi’s monitor head.
"Die!" Filled with hatred, Zhang Wenda put all his strength into his arms. With a tearing sound, he ripped the entire computer screen in half.
’Did I succeed?’ Just as Zhang Wenda had this thought, a square island suddenly rose from the sea of people. It was a screen—a massive computer monitor.
The massive computer monitor that had once been on the back of a cavalryman reappeared before Zhang Wenda.
"Had enough fun? It’s time to end this." Qianxi’s voice was deafening, and the large word ’DEATH’ flashed on the screen.
As Qianxi raised a right hand larger than a car to smash down on him, Zhang Wenda dodged and ran straight up Qianxi’s arm, charging toward its head.
Even though his opponent was now countless times larger than before, he felt no fear. His only thought was to kill it.
A giant cursor attempted to freeze Zhang Wenda, but under Kopan’s influence, the effects of the Ideological Tide were nullified around him. Qianxi’s foolproof method was now completely useless against Zhang Wenda; its greatest ability had been restricted.
Just as Zhang Wenda was about to reach it, a large image of the "Panda Burning Incense" virus flashed across the screen. A dense swarm of computer viruses immediately surged toward Zhang Wenda like a tidal wave.
Although the Ideological Tide’s rules were void, preventing the viruses from infecting Zhang Wenda, the variously shaped digital pathogens were still physically real.
He slaughtered them frantically, but they undeniably pinned him down.
But in that brief moment, Kopan, far away in America, seemed to have noticed something. The Gaze vanished with incredible speed.
"Did you really think you could beat me with petty tricks?"
Just as the giant mouse cursor was about to click on Zhang Wenda, the calm surface of the human sea began to churn. A massive wave, formed from countless prefabricated people, came crashing down upon Qianxi.
And the crest of that wave was none other than the prefabricated people who now possessed the red once more.
"We’re about to quit! We’ll help you before we get off work!"
They gathered into a wave, crashing against Qianxi again and again, unleashing the rage they had assimilated from Zhang Wenda’s heart.
Although they didn’t do much damage to Qianxi, they gave the beleaguered Zhang Wenda an idea.
Something suddenly occurred to Zhang Wenda. He quickly moved away from Qianxi and rushed toward the towering, prefabricated structures nearby.
’It seems that "getting off work" appears in a different form in Ideological Tide No. 6. If that’s the case...’
