Chapter 424: Doesn’t think anything of you

Fearing that Yilan might remain uncooperative and cause further trouble for Rory—subsequently ruining her own plans—Bree quietly placated her.

"Go pick out another item, and I’ll buy it for you, okay?" she coaxed softly.

Hearing this, Yilan’s anger vanished in an instant. "You really are the generous one, Bree. I’ll go pick something out then."

Yilan dragged her remaining mates along to choose something she liked.

Calling her a fool in her mind, Bree then walked over to Rory, an apologetic smile on her face.

"I’m so sorry about what just happened; it must have been awkward for you," Bree said to Rory. "I really didn’t expect Yilan’s mate to be so incredibly envious. Fortunately, Yilan is reasonable and knows her mate was in the wrong."

"Rory, you absolutely must not punish your mates over this. They only did it for your sake."

Rory had zero intention of punishing Jasper and Wen to begin with. "I’m not angry, and I won’t be punishing my mates, so don’t worry."

In reality, Jasper and the others hadn’t given her these items as official gifts, but they always bought them anyway and sent them straight to the storage vault.

Whenever she needed something, she just went to the vault to get it. When it came to material goods, Rory had never wanted for anything since bonding with Jasper and the others. To Jasper and Vincent, anything that could simply be bought didn’t count as a real gift. Only things they crafted with their own hands truly mattered.

After browsing for over an hour, Rory grew a bit tired. Dax arranged a lounge for them to rest in.

Taking advantage of this window, Bree had Sylas engineer an opportunity for her to meet with Dax alone.

"Master Dax," Bree called out, intercepting him just as he was heading to the lounge to accompany Rory.

Seeing her, Dax’s face darkened. "What is it?"

With Rory not around, Bree dropped her act. She looked at Dax, flashing a flawless smile. "I’m approaching you to talk about our bonding again. I hold a lot of technology that you don’t possess. As long as you bond with me, I can give all of these technologies to you."

"I can elevate you and your Starlight Prime Tech to a whole new level."

Dax sneered. "Without you, Starlight Prime Tech will reach the next level regardless."

Seeing Dax reject her offer so dismissively, the smile on Bree’s face instantly turned cold. "Dax, you need to realize that you don’t have a better option than me right now. Not only can I provide you with technology, but I am also a human female. My blood can even help you advance your rank."

No male could resist the temptation of advancing their rank, and Bree was certain Dax was no exception.

"Dax, I know you like Rory. But Rory doesn’t think anything of you. She already has powerful males by her side like Vincent and Vangar, not to mention Rank 11 powerhouses like Xarion and Aren."

Aiming to twist the knife in Dax’s heart, Bree continued, "You can’t compete with them. Setting Vincent aside, you can’t even measure up to Yuel. Yuel will never give you a chance to get close to Rory either. Because your rank is low, they don’t think you’re worthy of standing by her side."

"Dax, stop deceiving yourself and waiting for Rory to accept you again. Come to my side. I will help you increase your strength, and I can make you the wealthiest, most powerful male in the entire empire."

"When that time comes, no one will ever dare look down on you again. Don’t you want to experience the sweet pleasure of revenge against Rory and her mates?"

"Wouldn’t it make you happy to watch Rory weep bitter tears of regret over you?"

Dax genuinely thought this female had a psychological problem. If he ever saw his female master weeping bitterly for him, it would only break his heart and fill him with sorrow. Why on earth would it make him happy?

"I’ve told you before, you have the wrong person. I don’t like females like you, and it is entirely impossible for me to bond with you."

With that, Dax turned to leave. Bree’s gaze turned icy; she had genuinely wanted to settle this with him through civil conversation.

But this male simply refused to listen to her. Then she couldn’t be blamed for what came next.

She lowered her head, her dark eyes instantly turning a deep shade of green. A drop of green liquid hovered right at her fingertips. This was her venom; if he drank it, his spiritual consciousness would be corroded, trapping him in an illusion of her creation where he would obey her every word.

"Dax."

Suddenly, Rory’s voice rang out, causing Bree to instantly pull her hand back before she could make her move. She raised her head, her green pupils shifting back to black, and looked toward the direction Rory was approaching from.

Rory walked over with a smile, accompanied by Vincent. Dax stared at her excitedly; he hadn’t expected Rory to actively come out looking for him. Did the female master... care about him a little? Did he really still stand a chance?

Rory had no idea what Dax was thinking. She walked up and said to him with a smile, "So you were here. I caught sight of a new hovercar in your inventory that I’d like to buy. Could you help me check the price?"

"Sure, I’ll take... take you guys there right away." In his excitement, Dax almost blurted out the words ’female master.’

Rory nodded, then acted as if she had just noticed Bree. "Bree, you’re here too. Perfect, come along and check out the hovercar I just took a liking to."

Damn that Rory, she completely ruined my plans. Bree was furious inside, but she forced a warm smile onto her face. "Sure thing."

The group headed over to the hovercar showroom together.

In truth, Rory hadn’t actually taken a liking to any hovercar. The excuse was just a pretext to get Dax out of that situation. She pointed randomly at a hovercar in the showroom that had a decent coat of paint. "This one right here."

Bree wasn’t stupid. She looked at the hovercar Rory was pointing to and frowned. "There doesn’t seem to be anything special about this car, does there? Rory, why do you like this one? You’d be better off buying one of the newer models."

The reason Rory fabricated rolled right off her tongue without needing a second thought. "Because the color of this car is beautiful. It’s my absolute favorite. It’s my lucky color."

Rory rattled off this nonsense with a completely straight face, then immediately told Dax to have the car prepped for her. She wanted to drive it back later.

Dax nodded at once. "Then I’ll have the team swap out the interior configuration to match the exterior color as well." He genuinely believed her made-up excuse, thinking that this color really was her favorite and her lucky charm.

Bree didn’t suspect Rory further either, since beastmen could be quite superstitious about things like that from time to time.

After purchasing the car, Rory seized the opportunity to invite Bree and Yilan out for a meal during the upcoming Female Festival. "Since you bought me so many gifts today, I absolutely must treat you and Yilan to dinner for the Female Festival the day after tomorrow. You have to promise me you’ll come."

Bree’s own plan revolved around making her move against Rory during the Female Festival. Rory inviting her out for a meal on that exact day played right into her hands.

"Of course, Yilan and I will definitely be there," Bree agreed readily.

During the Female Festival, females would attend accompanied by all of their mates. It would be the perfect opportunity for her to strike in secret.

Stepping out of Starlight Prime Tech, Rory watched Bree and Yilan’s starships depart. She spoke in a low voice to Vincent beside her. "Did you see it clearly? Were her eyes actually green at that moment?"

Vincent nodded seriously. "I saw it clearly. They were definitely green." His gaze sharpened as he stared in the direction Bree’s starship had gone. "It seems highly likely that she belongs to the Zerg race."
